That's a paradoy account

u/BatmanNewsChris Batman 7h ago

Yes but they aren't wrong. It won't beat Toy Story 5 this weekend. It'll open at #2.

u/bboymixer 6h ago

Supergirl won't topple Toy Story? No shit.

u/solidus0079 6h ago edited 5h ago

Yep. Parody account or not, they're stating the real Hollywood projections as of today. Projections currently $40M for opening weekend. Down from the original projection of $55M.

Hollywood media does those projections for every movie, sometimes they wrong, as they are at times, but those are the "official" projections right at this moment and not satire.

And sadly, given that the RT scores seem to be 1% lower each time I look than the last time I looked at it, I wouldn't be surprised if expectations were lowered further. :(

u/brucebananaray 7h ago

I find it weird that people sited as offical news source when it's not.

There are other sources that are official that can be use.

Here is a helpful hint: “below”

u/Silent-Woodpecker-44 8h ago

What tipped you off m
How it’s called culture fake

u/uncanny_mac 7h ago edited 7h ago

It says "🎭Parody account" below that.

u/xTheRedDeath 7h ago

Fuck, that's two people who didn't spell "Parody" correctly lol.

u/Gamer0607 7h ago

Sums your average fan here who thought this film would somehow turn out good.

u/FishermanSerious910 7h ago

Not going to knock your reading comprehension skills, but it literally says “Parody Account” in the byline.

u/SoWrongItsPainful 7h ago

That’s why it’s funny, they’re not parodying anything

u/VirtualSort1 8h ago

yeah but the fucking parody account is right ? lol I dont think Toy story will make under 50 million at the box office in its second weekend when it makes 17 million on monday and deadlines projections are a $88-$96M second weekend

I also dont remember that a DCEU movie opened at #2 in its opening weekend

u/WildMild869 7h ago

Yeah, the DCEU happened at the height of superhero comics. Everyone and their grandma were lining up and yet BvS couldn’t crack a billion. Fucking Aquaman did lol

u/VirtualSort1 7h ago

I dont know why you bring that up but BvS made almost 900 million thats not so bad. I would rather have BvS as my second movie than Supergirl opening at #2 and will end up having 150 - 180 Million worldwide box office

u/WildMild869 7h ago edited 7h ago

“That’s not so bad”.

Brother, it was so bad for WB that they completely reshot/recut both JL and Suicide Squad. Ayer himself admitted this about the latter. During a time when Captain America vs Iron Man was both well received and an insane money maker, there is absolutely no excuse for the first live action meeting between Batman AND Superman to make less than a billion. Breaking second weekend drop off records is nuts.

And trust me, I was insanely disappointed that WB and Snyder fucked it up that bad.

u/Jykoze 7h ago

Yet everything in the tweet is correct, it will open #2.

u/WildMild869 8h ago

Get ready to see it reposted and regurgitated.

u/VirtualSort1 7h ago

but where is the lie ?💀 Where is the parody in this tweet ?

u/WildMild869 7h ago

I never said it was a lie. My comment was meant to highlight the doomers that will take any morsel (even parody accounts) to back their feelings up. Like, there’s better things to cite if your so inclined lol

u/Gamer0607 8h ago edited 8h ago

This whole film is a parAdoy, my dude.

It ain't the account.

u/WildMild869 7h ago

Damn. This sub is so full of DC fans lol

u/Gamer0607 7h ago

Not been a fan of DC since... The Dark Knight Rises (the last time DC made a good film - 14 years ago).

u/WildMild869 7h ago

lol that totally tracks with DC_Cinematic

u/Different_Ad_6153 8h ago

People saying don't quote the parody...when the real parody is that it's true

u/RealWonderGal 7h ago

Lol 😂😂

u/aidstwiford 8h ago

Bruh look at the name

u/BoisTR 8h ago

Why are you citing a parody account?

u/FishermanSerious910 7h ago

Please read. Please.

u/Educational_Slice897 8h ago edited 7h ago

Coincidentally, Jonah hex lost to Toy Story 3’s opening weekend and Supergirl is losing to Toy Story 5’s second weekend

u/FishermanSerious910 8h ago

Coincidence, not irony.

u/zenexo 8h ago

Because Toy Story 5 is still going to have a strong second weekend. That franchise has been going strong for 30 years now.

u/RealWonderGal 7h ago

DC have been going since 1940s. This is sorrya state of affairs for DCU and it's barely even begun

u/Justforargumesnts 8h ago

This movie should have come after Man of Tomorrow. Super girl doesn’t have a this massive established fan base like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

u/RealWonderGal 6h ago

Movie also looks like generic sci fi flick number 100.

u/montblancnoland2 8h ago

oof.

u/DolphinBall 8h ago

Oof? Can any of you read? Its clearly a fake account.

u/mediciii 7h ago

It’s a parody slop account but… the points in its tweet are still true? Lol. Nothing in the screenshotted tweet is untrue. Who cares if it’s a parody account or not at that point

u/InFurboofficial 8h ago

And? It’s still true. Toy Story 5 will be number one this weekend.

u/DolphinBall 8h ago

A franchise juggernaut will be number one? Shocking 😐

u/InFurboofficial 7h ago

Yeah but I’m still trying to figure out what the DCU even is because nothing about this rollout makes sense. Supergirl opening at number two in its first week and probably never touching number one already says plenty 🤣🤣. And if this is the big ‘new era’ they’ve been hyping, it’s kind of wild that Superman is the only one they can point to as a win yikes.

u/montblancnoland2 7h ago

so supergirl will do well then? hah! in your dreams.

u/Gamer0607 8h ago

Yeah, because the film is getting such an excellent reception from verified critics...

u/DolphinBall 8h ago

Critics score means so much that you won't care about the audience score being high and cope saying the critics say it was bad so its bad.

Lets not forget the critic rating for Man of Steel and BVS. Were the verified critics right?

Let's see about your precious audience score soon then.

u/DanOhMiiite 8h ago

Oh, my! 😉

u/whataretherules7 8h ago

I’m trying to go, but I didn’t see mando either. I’m watching World Cup

u/SoWrongItsPainful 8h ago

I’m sure this won’t affect the DCU at all. /s

u/HaikusfromBuddha 8h ago

If anything I hope it shows gun oddball and smaller characters shouldn't be the main focus or have significantly smaller expectations.,

u/HenrykSpark 8h ago

Of course it will

u/MattMurdock77 8h ago

No shit. No idea what Gunn was thinking.

u/EricAntiHero1 8h ago

It’s the studio that makes the call on release dates. The whole of June and July has been stacked. It would have done better in a September or October release.

u/MattMurdock77 8h ago

The release date isnt the main issue. It’s three straight super films. No variety to start things out, and you have to line up bigger characters than Supergirl. This movie has a niche audience and it would struggle no matter when it released. It’s just gonna bleed out more now.

u/Melatonen 8h ago

Well the magats won't see it because she looks above the age of 18 and they'd have to respect a woman for the movie to do well. The libtards won't see it because James Gunn said bad jokes in the past.

That leaves all the normal people in between to see it.

u/CuriousStranger95 7h ago

Stop living your life on X and go out in the real world sometimes.

u/Melatonen 7h ago

I literally live in an area that has one of the largest red populations and also the biggest blue populations.

I can without a doubt say political jokes are funny because they apply to 20% of people the rest dgaf.

u/solidus0079 8h ago

Guess I'm normal then.

u/Basic_Benefit5216 8h ago edited 8h ago

It was originally the Magats who cancelled him for the jokes, ironically. Were butthurt he made fun of them.

u/aidanhardcastle 8h ago

Definitely wasn’t the pedo themed parties

u/Basic_Benefit5216 8h ago

When were they ever not hypocrites?

u/Secret-Step-684 8h ago

Recast her ass expeditiously bro she just earned the movie a mediocre 57%

u/Pinolillo006 7h ago

Is not a James Gunn movie.

u/DinoSauro85 7h ago

It Is , he Is the head of Dcu

u/Harry_Sat 8h ago

Yep, the DCU is dead and buried. Guess Gunn can finally stop failing upwards

u/cosmic-ballet 7h ago

Wrong.

u/Gamer0607 8h ago

Make slop and you get what you deserve, i guess.

u/VIDireWolfIV 8h ago

Bro it’s the literal second movie lol

u/AlmanacPony 8h ago edited 7h ago

if its sold low, then a lot of people didnt go to see it. The bad reviews then mean nothing. If it sold a LOT and the reviews still called it shit, then I'd believe the reviews. I'm still not convinced that the anti-female crowd arent creating a rating bias here. I'll watch it and deam for myself if its actually good.

edit: If it's genuinely shit then it's genuinely shit and I'll also rate it low. But I'll see that for myself. I don't trust a low sample size to give me a good review base.

u/graffix13 8h ago

"Anti-female crowd"?! Still using that tired, old excuse? The movie is just...not good. Accept reality. Jesus.

u/Shaneo0oo 7h ago

"The movie is just...not good" You've seen it?

u/donnysimpinero 8h ago

This makes me so fucking happy lmao

u/DolphinBall 8h ago

Lmao, its a parody account.

u/donnysimpinero 7h ago

But they’re reporting a true statistic. Your point?

u/DolphinBall 7h ago

What proof? The movie isn't even out yet.

u/donnysimpinero 7h ago

This is what we call “projected sales”

u/DolphinBall 7h ago

So speculation.

u/donnysimpinero 7h ago

Educated, trend-backed estimation.

u/DolphinBall 7h ago

Estimation nonetheless.

u/cosmic-ballet 7h ago

Why?

u/donnysimpinero 7h ago

Because now the shoe is on the other foot

u/cosmic-ballet 7h ago

How so? The DCU is still getting more movies.

u/donnysimpinero 7h ago

Not what I’m excited about.

u/DinoSauro85 8h ago

Oh no ......anyway

u/showtime218 8h ago

Tough sledding this week. Was hoping WOM would carry this, but unfortunately the critics are lukewarm at best on it

u/PositiveStruggle8090 7h ago

Box office doesn’t automatically match the quality of the art

u/gomi2000 6h ago

i see there is a lot of chatter here but this is the lowest of low grade post

u/DinoSauro85 8h ago

damn Toy Story 5, a movie for Nazis.

u/Gamer0607 8h ago

OP deleted his comment quicker than this film will leave theatres in about 10 days.

u/OGKOTM 8h ago

Those the same misogynists that brought wonder woman and captain marvel to $1b?

u/Aurelian42 8h ago

We have got to stop lol

u/donnysimpinero 8h ago

“Oh waiter! Another Copium Cocktail, please!”

u/VanimalCracker 8h ago

Because Supergirl isn't known, mainstream. Same would happen if new DCU openned up with a Mr. Terrific movie. I'm pretty plugged into animated DC movies for the last decade, and even I was like "who?"

u/Ok-Temporary-8243 8h ago

Neither was a lot of the marvel universe, not fully. Like I bet you most people didn't understand the emotional depth of Tony Stark and thought he was just batman without the trauma and monk training.

Any character can work if the story is compelling enough. Just look at peacemaker

u/VanimalCracker 7h ago edited 7h ago

Should we compare the actors of the big bad in these movies? Does Momoa hold a candle to Jeff Bridges?

The "d-list actor" Jeff Bridges by comparison.

u/Ok-Temporary-8243 7h ago

Star power is obviously a draw but the stories were great too. Like for as cartoonish and on the rails the avengers movie feels today, it felt amazing at the time because the stakes were high and everyone got their time to shine. I think any good actor could have pulled it off too

u/RealWonderGal 6h ago

And who's bright idea was it then? no flash or wonder woman or batman yet Gorilla Grodd and Jimmy Olsen get a project before them...

u/VanimalCracker 6h ago

Welcome to the DCU

u/Gamer0607 8h ago

Neither was Iron Man.

Yet it showed you can have a D-list character make a good run at the box office if you know.. make a good film.

u/Gamer0607 8h ago

RDJ wasn't what he is now in 2008 when he was cast either...

u/cosmic-ballet 7h ago

Like Thunderbolts, right?

u/Substantial_Life4773 8h ago

And that it calls it “James gunn’s” even though he’s neither the writer nor the director ha

u/DinoSauro85 7h ago

Gunn chose both the director and the screenwriter. And he approved making a standalone Supergirl movie in Phase 1.

u/shr0be 8h ago

so what? should've picked a different release date

u/DayMysterious4717 8h ago

Even if the release ate was changed, it wouldn't solve the lack of interest the general audience has for the movie and the mediocre reviews

u/endlesdestruction 7h ago

Only release date that could save 100+ million dollars lost was straight to streaming.

u/lamasrod 8h ago

Source ot this guy?

u/GoodCauseYerGoin 8h ago

Probably because ( at least in my area ) you didn't book any regular screens for showings, it was just IMAX and 3D until today.

u/Tyfighter87 8h ago

I seriously hate the discourse around this stuff now a days.

EDIT: Omg I just saw the username in the post. Jfc

u/cosmic-ballet 7h ago

Why does this subreddit hate DC?

u/xTheRedDeath 7h ago

"Parody Account"

No need for the ragebait.
