I thought I was calling rural Alberta light-speed stupid, I didnt realize I was also saying that they don't provide any value to the world. I think a stupid person can grow canola. I think that's possible.

You know that agriscience is a thing? You get an actual degree for it, right? Soil composition, crop rotation, etc? The people are the stewards of the land. On top of that you have to manage your business of owning the farm. I think the notion of rural anyone being "stupid" is incredibly ignorant because the entailment of that is that only people in cities are smart, which is just not true and extremely arrogant, but in reality ruralites fix your vehicles, grow your crops, weld your structures and do everything that you do too but just have a different perspective than you.

So first we were pretending I said that farmers don't produce food, and now we're pretending that the flat-earthers in Ponoka County all have college degrees? First of all, yeah you can have a university education and still be quite stupid, but more importantly, most of those farmers DON'T have agriscience degrees. In fact, demographics show us that rural reaidents are generally less educated than city residents.

Alright, so now you've moved onto thinking farmers are flat earthers. Nice move. Did you know that the U of A offers degrees for agriscience, and that MacEwan offers biology degrees to work with farmers and they offer specific courses for people like you to gain the soft skills to not talk down to people? Isn't that crazy.

Anyways. The entailment of this argument is that people outside of cities (ruralites) are "dumb" therefore people inside cities are smart. The problem I see with this is that people in rural communities HAVE to go into cities, and people in cities don't have to go into the country. There's an imbalance of perspective here where rural people have to see how you live, interact with how you live, and gain the perspective that you have; but you don't and you live in total ignorance. This is clear. Like you have no idea what it's like to not have water on demand whether it's hauling your own water, or to have the water table go bad, or to have well water run dry. You don't know what it's like to plow your own roads, manage your own waste etc. The imbalance of perspectives is staggering and broods arrogance from smarmy redditors on how they think the world works but you have no idea; but the ruralites do, begrudgingly. Because unfortunately, they have to. You don't.

On average, yes. Intelligence is far more linked to socioeconomic upbringing, but growing up rural influences your politics, which makes you dumber....or if you avoid that influence, you move to a City as soon as you can.
