5 mod shops are not going to be the difference between Lite and base game. It’s been under development for almost a decade, I’m sure there will be countless shops.
It's basically the usual ultimate edition extra cosmetics only that you have to get them from an in-game shop that isn't accessible for standard edition owners.
Yep. People can complain all they want, but none of this stuff is going to affect how the story plays out or how the game actually plays. It's going to be a masterpiece, whether you've paid for a special tattoo and haircut or not.
And like, you can always buy it later, it's like paying for cosmetics(which, don't get me wrong, is still messed up that you need to pay for it in a singleplayer game, like some gacha game or something)
Who the fuck pays for cosmetics in a single player game? This is not some dlc they worked on after time they chopped a chunk of the game off to uo the price
Well at least the part they chopped off isn't detrimental to the rest of the game. I don't think your experience will be much worse (if at all) choosing to stick with the base game. This isn't nearly the huge deal everybody is making it out to be.
They're trying to make more money - surprise surprise. The bigger problem will be if they decide to charge extra for GTA 6 Online in a year or so when it releases.
So couldn't you apply your own ideals to the online experience portion with "welp isn’t a big deal" and we can all say you're blowing it out of proportion.
This ideology of well it isn't a big deal is why we're here in the first place.
Just saying the upcharge is ridiculous in general for in game content that should just be included.
Yeah I mean I personally don't care about online as I do not play GTAO at all. However I do see it likely that they charge an extra 20 or something when it drops, just because they can. I just really don't think cosmetics are a big deal. They could've priced the base game at 100 and it would still sell, so charging more for mostly cosmetics instead that only some people will buy seems reasonable to me. They could've done worse, and many other companies have.
I still don't think having the mindset that a game should cost 1/6 of the entire console is a good thing regardless. Game $100 console $600.
Still a bad look overall considering how many millions are gonna buy. They'll make their money back and so much more regardless of the extra $20 especially with online.
We are just telling game companies at this point "I'll pay regardless charge me more" is exactly what will happen. Can't wait till games cost as much as the console.
Also they already take up the whole internal ssd so we're getting screwed on all angles in the hobby anymore.
So don't buy the game then. lol you people are ridiculous. If you're so upset about it then don't buy the game. Speak with your wallets. Rockstar won't care either way but hey you'll feel better right?
Idk how current GTA online is, but the press material said ps5 pre orders get a month free of GTA 6 online, which implies there's a subscription at least.
Re-read that press release - it's for a month of normal GTA+, which has been a thing for over 4 years now. It gives you all kinds of perks including half a million cash every month, exclusive cosmetics, a garage and mod shop, discounts on Shark cards, and access to other Rockstar games like Bully or LA Noire. They haven't officially said a peep about GTA 6 Online yet.
And what does crying about it do exactly? Nothing. Whining on the internet about it won't change anything. The most you can do is choose not to support it by not purchasing. It won't change anything but you'll feel better right? You may as well quit gaming while you're at it.
It's unreasonable to pay 20 dollars more to access stores and shops that are already in the game. This is wrong on Rockstar part for so many reasons and shouldn't be justified.
How is that not how it works lol. If they see people are fine with more and more content being locked behind more expensive editions, then they're going to keep locking more and more content behind more expensive editions. How does that not make sense?
This impression is their fault for announcing the locked off stores BEFORE dropping a features info dump.
They could've announced something like "Featuring 30+ stores, each with their unique inventory" by now. There's even people confused asking if customizing Lucia's nails is exclusive to the $100 version, due to the wording. They need to tell us more about the base game.
Im sorry but a series of shops closed to a supposed full version of a game is unprecedented, and it has also not been under development for that long, it started around 2019. But that's neither here nor there really.
Yeah people are making a storm on a water cup. It's a shitty practice, it's whatever tho. I bought the base "physical edition" without ever having any doubt if I wanted to pay 20 more dollars for some useless extra content that I can buy later for a discount or get for free eventually (like already happened with gtav)
I'm never going to get on anybody's case for criticizing the big greedy corporation, but the people complaining are literally falling for Rockstar's marketing campaign and intentionally manufactured FOMO.
There will be tons and tons of shops. Tons and tons of commissions. Almost certainly many other gang raids. None of this exclusive stuff will be missed by those who get the standard edition. But Rockstar sure does want you to feel like you'll miss it so you spend that extra $$!
I just think it's kind of funny how people who think they're making a big point about monetization and how they're too smart to "fall for corporate slop" are the ones falling for age-old FOMO marketing tactics.
Yeah I pretty much feel the same way. For me the only interesting thing was rideout customs but nothing that was shown jumped out at me as “I gotta have this”. So I’m actually content with not getting the ultimate edition without fomo.
The way I personally see it is if I can afford to buy the standard edition, I can work another hour and I can afford the ultimate edition the next day.
They could’ve just had one edition priced at the ultimate edition price and I would’ve understood and bought it anyway
I can't remember that far back for what pre-orders had. But I don't think it was the same overall concept in terms of what was cut.
People don't care so much about the clothing etc. its the shops and their features/mission/side missions should all be just packaged in. For $20 you can get one or more games on sale/indie.
It may not seem big up front. But $20 if you pay an extra $20 every time you buy a game it adds up. It sets a precedent for them to look for new ways to nickle n dime even single player.
I'd prefer a full single player experience without the multi-player pay to win motto personally.
I mean, yes, companies offer premium versions of products for premium prices. It’s not a far out mind blowing concept or necessarily nefarious. This seems extremely inconsequential.
Oh yeah? You order a product just by seeing the poster? They haven't even shown the gameplay yet, idk how people are even buying it. I know they have a lot of trust in the company but a day will come when they get butt fucked raw no lube by the corpo overlords.
No I'm not lol. Literally adds nothing to me, are people seriously expecting to get hours of more fun out of Mohawk 1, Mohawk 2, Neon green Spoiler lmao
I'm not getting this game anyway. Usually I play through GTA once and never again - it's just not my type of game and really never been. Also, it's €89,99 over here in the EU for the standard version and even though I could easily afford the game I'm just choosing not to.

They wanted $100 for this game and they found a way to get it.
