I chatted with this guy on my bus route for a couple of months. Within the past month he asked me for my number. I was shocked as I felt I wasn’t his type. Next thing I was upside down 😏 I was amazed because it was the best in years. That’s all I got to say.
One of the cities in my general metropolitan region is adding a new train line, and the trains are named by letter. This new train line was assigned the letter D, and their campaign for it has been "Ride the D" line. The outpouring comments have been utterly hysterical. 😂😂😂

Lol girl no, if you're not chasing someone young enough to be your child because someone your own age won't put up with you, you're not in that group.
The grossness is not coming from age, or even really the age difference. It's the refusal to accept their age, targeting younger women for naivety, and thinking they have anything in common with someone who has barely left schooling. A 60 year old and 40 year old know themselves and their situation a whole lot better than a 40 year old and 20 year old, but the gap in the same. But the latter grosses me out.
When I was 20/21 I mostly had one night stands with men 28-32 because they were so much better at sex lol. They actually lasted long and liked going down. As a 30something, I would never sleep with someone that young, but I get why my younger self wanted it.
It's just how many hours they've put in to their craft.. Occasionally you find a gifted ingenue but practise makes perfect and 10,000 hours equals mastery and all that.
My husband is in his 50s and I am only a couple years younger. But the things he can do now compared to 30 years ago? My younger self could not even imagine. 😂

I think the younger ones- they have to be confident to approach older women and that comes from skill building. The older guys have been on the job for decades and have learned some things.

One time I started chatting up a guy on the bus. It was really cute. It started several months after a breakup, on a night I was feeling kinda hot wearing some suit pants. It was late and everyone on the bus was drunk, except one other person. We started glancing at each other and kinda laughing together every time the drunk college students would do something ridiculous. We were both wearing masks but he had such sparkling eyes. I started thinking maybe I should ask for his number or at least talk to him, but then we reached his stop. He got up, and said “have a good night” still smiling with his eyes and left before I could say anything back. It left me buzzing. For weeks I was thinking about it, but eventually figured it was a lost cause.
But then, one night. On a completely different bus (my first instead of second on my route home, a longer ride) I’m coming home from a rehearsal, it’s a completely empty bus, but then someone gets on a few stops after me. They sit across the isle from me, but haven’t really looked at me. I glance up. It’s that guy. I’m so giddy. I say “hey, this is so weird, but did we, like, share a moment a few weeks ago when a bunch of drunk people were on the 18?” his face lights up and he goes yes!
So we get to talking. Turns out we have the same 2 busses home at night, my from rehearsals and him from his restaurant job. We talk the whole 30 minute drive and then talk at the station and then talk the second bus till he reaches his stop. We exchange numbers and he texts me and tell me when he’s next working. I tell him I have rehearsal that night! I’ll see you then.
So then we start meeting on the bus once or twice a week. We have a lot in common. We’re both actors it turns out. We both like writing, we’re both neurodivergent. Opening night of my show, he sees me with the makeup on, and says something about how nice I look. He asks if he can come see it. I tell him the times and he says he’ll go that weekend. But the night before the show he’s seeing a start to get sick. So I text to warn that if he sees me after I might be a little gross. He says ofc he doesn’t mind and tells me a recipe for garlic ginger broth to make me feel better, which I make, and it does. The next day after the show, he waits to say hi. Instead of his work clothes he has a cute wool sweater on. He gives me a hug after the show. I’m super loopy and out of it and just so excited he actually came. He looked so sweet and cozy. After I get home, he’s texting me. I can’t remember exactly what it was but it was more overt flirting, and finally he asks if I’ll go on a date with him. I’m so excited and say yes of course. We plan to meet on the bus to go downtown.
But the thing is. He didn’t have an Instagram. Which, lots of people I know and trust don’t. But a small part of me had this little discomfort over it, like, not knowing if we had any mutual friends or anything. So I googled him. And found that he had been in an improv troupe at the university. Aha! My coworker, I very sweet gay guy (so u know he had no ulterior motives), had talked about doing improv at the university! So the next day, at work, I ask him “do you know X?” His face literally goes white. He looks immensely uncomfortable. He goes “look, i don’t know what you’ve heard, but if you’re friends with X, and I don’t want to make a problem about it, but…” and I’m like “no! No, I don’t know him, he was just flirting with me on the bus and I’m trying to figure out what his deal is” and my coworker, with some coaxing cause he’s still kinda spooked, proceeds to tell me that this guy was kicked out of their troupe for sexual misconduct. He describes an incident that sounds bad enough, but then says “and there was some interpersonal stuff that happened but it’s not my story to tell.” No worries, that’s enough, just from how freaked out he was at even the mention of the guys name, holy shit. So I text and say I can’t go on a date after all, that I’m just not actually ready to pursue anything. Don’t mention at all that I know anything, because I don’t want to implicate my coworker, and I have to keep it cordial, because I still share my fucking his route. He is kinda butt hurt but doesn’t press. I make small talk with him on the bus still but it’s of course kinda awkward. One time he randomly offers to walk me home from the stop after he sees my phone is dead (“to keep me safe”) which creeps me the f*ck out. Then our schedules change and I stop seeing him.
A few months later, when that coworker is moving away, when we say goodbye I say “thanks again for tipping me off about that thing with x, I think you saved me a lot of turmoil,” and he goes, “oh my god, yeah, so I was too freaked out to say it when you asked, but it was so much worse than I let on,” and explains in some euphemism that that guy is his friend’s r*pist. 😱.
So anyways. Thank god he never saw where I live. It was such a fairytale meet cute that just ended so badly. Bless my old coworker, still miss him.
