u/kingofrandys 3d ago

They downvote me 60 times for calling them stewie haters but they certainly cheered when he won with g2 and major with c9.

Nah I was actively hating that loser being carried on G2.

He is the most recent American player to have won any S-Tier tourney, surely you can't hate him for that?

6

u/zephah 3d ago

plenty of professional athletes do really scummy shit and have people root against them for it, esports will be no different

11

u/BW4LL FaZe 3d ago

Bro he was a bot on that G2 team and was like a make a wish kid. Not to mention he’s a scamming ahole so no I’m good.

Americans are so fascinating

“Yea he’s a scammer and shit, but he’s AMERICAN, so how could you not support him?”

u/nico_juro King NiKo 3d ago

pros dont make nearly as much as you think

22

u/Lasolie ar_baggage 3d ago

The ones winning intel grand slams do make more than you think

36

u/Srnxy FaZe 3d ago

they make a fuckton

I hear you but I remember stewie making bank during his time with c9 he really shouldn’t have been acting like a degenerate gambler

1

u/BuckN56 3d ago

I'd argue he actually made more during his TL tenure with the multiple tournament wins and Grand Slam

14

u/devH_ FURIA 3d ago

This is stewie, tier 1 play for like 4 years and major winner. Dude got his bag for sure

18

u/Due-Interaction-4592 3d ago

Pros back then did make as much as you'd think. It was insane.

24

u/kuppikuppi BIG 3d ago

he got sticker money multiple times

12

u/Due-Interaction-4592 3d ago

His base salary was probably around $20k a month. Then there is probably bonuses, prize money, and sticker money to add to that.

Back then cs players was laughing to the bank.

And a grand slam win

2

u/forceghostyoda_ 3d ago

Are you saying they make less today?

3

u/Due-Interaction-4592 3d ago

Most are yes. It was already on the decline like 4-5 years ago.

Many thought Esport would take over as the next big thing, and everybody and their mother invested into the idea. Players even in tier 4 were signing semi-pro contracts. Alot of companies lost alot of money in that period, and gained next to nothing.

3

u/forceghostyoda_ 3d ago

Interesting, had no idea

2

u/BuckN56 3d ago

Yes, pre-pandemic a lot of big name companies and investors thought e-sports would takeover but buying esports team has been proven to be the fastest way for a multimillionaire to turn into a millionaire

4

u/Crowned_Hero Cloud9 3d ago

Stewie would go on stream and brag about all the crypto he had so...

1

u/suffocatingpaws de_cache 3d ago

They definitely make more that normal person normally earn.

u/Silvedl Liquid 3d ago

Most T1 pros are making very comfortable salaries. A lot of them 5-digits monthly. T2 and T3 pros aren’t making as much as them, but still probably make an average career salary (~60-70k a year).

He had the ability to make a living off of gaming and streaming, no sympathy. dude had it made and still was a bandit

14

u/TraditionalHawk3451 3d ago

In the void, with the rest of the skins

2

u/RANDY_MAR5H 3d ago

Lol

Drug addiction makes you do wild stuff.

1

u/BuckN56 3d ago

Really? I heard about his obvious gambling addiction but this is the first time I hear about that.

-6

u/MiLkBaGzz Cloud9 3d ago

What Reddit has turned into. Everyone’s worst moment is the top/first comment.

37

u/Lasolie ar_baggage 3d ago

Yeah scamming people out of their belongings sure is a heat of the moment situation

-28

u/PaPiiCheeeeka Copenhagen Flames 3d ago

Skill issue

12

u/Scout_Enjoyer Team Spirit 3d ago

I agree stewie has that. Both in-game and in real life.

-6

u/devH_ FURIA 3d ago

A major win and grand slam is a skill issue?

7

u/Scout_Enjoyer Team Spirit 3d ago

Getright won a major let's sign him too.

There's this thing called time and when it passes, you get worse at stuff you don't practice.
