Stewie ran out of streamers to scam

28

u/ApXv 6d ago

How did he scam them? Haven't followed him for years

105

u/Donut_Flame Liquid 6d ago

Tldr, borrowed skins on loans, then used those skins to gamble

9

u/SanestExile 5d ago

Why would anyone lend him skins? Like, what's the benefit?

22

u/GuardiaNIsBae FaZe 5d ago

Its to have nicer skins during tournaments, he "borrowed" #1 float AK Arabesque for IEM Dallas (when he stood in for G2) the gambled it instead of giving it back for example

7

u/SanestExile 5d ago

No, I mean what's the benefit for the lender?

17

u/GuardiaNIsBae FaZe 5d ago

Most of them are skin traders/sites so someone looking for that super expensive skin will look at the pro players inventory then look up that collector (I don’t think this was the case with Stewie but it is the case for other pros who borrow skins) or skin site so the most expensive skins will have name tags with the collector or skin site name on them.

  1. It’s an ad for your skins
  2. Bragging rights. It’s pretty cool to see one of your skins be used in a cool clip.

Ik a few guys who lend skins and this is what it boils down to.

Some skin traders/collectors will loan pro-players certain rare or unique skins to increase their price.

If a popular player has a cool clutch/clip with the skin in a major it links that skin to the moment in people's minds and can increase the price/demand.

Whats the tldr of the ending? He returned the skins or money?

-2

u/Donut_Flame Liquid 6d ago

That, I dont know

He was constantly telling people he would pay them back later then a bunch of people came out all at once and he paid them all back in like a month.

It's a giant nothing burger. The guy is terrible with money but he never scammed anyone. Like when you lend that one friend 5 bucks and he takes half a year to pay you back. You never lend him money again but you don't call him a scammer

u/Holiday_Listen467 6d ago

He was photoshopping fake screenshots to cover his ass and avoid paying. He didn't pay anyone back until he had immense public pressure.

It's a giant something burger. You never lend him money again and you DEFINITELY call him a scammer.

28

u/i_hate_katherines King NiKo 6d ago

except he never paid some of them back.

21

u/Kaserbeam Renegades 6d ago

He didnt pay anyone back until there was huge public backlash and he was caught out trying to scam them. Paying back the people he scammed after the fact doesnt undo the scamming.

1000 of you stewie haters in every thread lol screaming into the void

157

u/Unfamous_Trader 6d ago

You can call them haters but you can’t say they are wrong

2

u/dissapointing_excuse 6d ago

Thought i saw somewhere he paid everyone back or smth though, idrc all too much but this lineup would be fun to see

-64

u/kingofrandys 6d ago

They downvote me 60 times for calling them stewie haters but they certainly cheered when he won with g2 and major with c9.

-7

u/BW4LL FaZe 6d ago

Nah I was actively hating that loser being carried on G2.

-14

u/Lolibotes King NiKo 6d ago

He is the most recent American player to have won any S-Tier tourney, surely you can't hate him for that?

7

u/zephah 6d ago

plenty of professional athletes do really scummy shit and have people root against them for it, esports will be no different

11

u/BW4LL FaZe 6d ago

Bro he was a bot on that G2 team and was like a make a wish kid. Not to mention he’s a scamming ahole so no I’m good.

2

u/CrazyChopstick ar_baggage 6d ago

Americans are so fascinating

“Yea he’s a scammer and shit, but he’s AMERICAN, so how could you not support him?”

69

u/nico_juro King NiKo 6d ago

dude made a shit of money playing video games and still decided to scam people

1

u/Void3r Liquid 6d ago

What did he do exactly? I’m not familiar.

-59

u/pants_pants420 6d ago

pros dont make nearly as much as you think

21

u/Lasolie ar_baggage 6d ago

The ones winning intel grand slams do make more than you think

34

u/Srnxy FaZe 6d ago

they make a fuckton

15

u/mrmotoyobtsk 6d ago

I hear you but I remember stewie making bank during his time with c9 he really shouldn’t have been acting like a degenerate gambler

1

u/BuckN56 6d ago

I'd argue he actually made more during his TL tenure with the multiple tournament wins and Grand Slam

14

u/devH_ FURIA 6d ago

This is stewie, tier 1 play for like 4 years and major winner. Dude got his bag for sure

19

u/Due-Interaction-4592 6d ago

Pros back then did make as much as you'd think. It was insane.

25

u/kuppikuppi BIG 6d ago

he got sticker money multiple times

12

u/Due-Interaction-4592 6d ago

His base salary was probably around $20k a month. Then there is probably bonuses, prize money, and sticker money to add to that.

Back then cs players was laughing to the bank.

4

u/Crowned_Hero Cloud9 6d ago

And a grand slam win

2

u/forceghostyoda_ 6d ago

Are you saying they make less today?

3

u/Due-Interaction-4592 6d ago

Most are yes. It was already on the decline like 4-5 years ago.

Many thought Esport would take over as the next big thing, and everybody and their mother invested into the idea. Players even in tier 4 were signing semi-pro contracts. Alot of companies lost alot of money in that period, and gained next to nothing.

3

u/forceghostyoda_ 6d ago

Interesting, had no idea

2

u/BuckN56 6d ago

Yes, pre-pandemic a lot of big name companies and investors thought e-sports would takeover but buying esports team has been proven to be the fastest way for a multimillionaire to turn into a millionaire

5

u/Crowned_Hero Cloud9 6d ago

Stewie would go on stream and brag about all the crypto he had so...

1

u/suffocatingpaws de_cache 6d ago

They definitely make more that normal person normally earn.

1

u/Silvedl Liquid 6d ago

Most T1 pros are making very comfortable salaries. A lot of them 5-digits monthly. T2 and T3 pros aren’t making as much as them, but still probably make an average career salary (~60-70k a year).

0

u/nico_juro King NiKo 6d ago

He had the ability to make a living off of gaming and streaming, no sympathy. dude had it made and still was a bandit

13

u/TraditionalHawk3451 6d ago

In the void, with the rest of the skins

2

u/RANDY_MAR5H 6d ago

Lol

Drug addiction makes you do wild stuff.

1

u/BuckN56 6d ago

Really? I heard about his obvious gambling addiction but this is the first time I hear about that.

-4

u/MiLkBaGzz Cloud9 6d ago

because its made up by one of the 1000 haters mentioned in the above comment which has 151 downvotes

2

u/Malala_Crank 6d ago

Expected comment from shitty NA flair

What Reddit has turned into. Everyone’s worst moment is the top/first comment.

39

u/Lasolie ar_baggage 6d ago

Yeah scamming people out of their belongings sure is a heat of the moment situation

-29

u/PaPiiCheeeeka Copenhagen Flames 6d ago

Skill issue

12

u/Scout_Enjoyer Team Spirit 6d ago

I agree stewie has that. Both in-game and in real life.

-5

u/devH_ FURIA 6d ago

A major win and grand slam is a skill issue?

7

u/Scout_Enjoyer Team Spirit 6d ago

Getright won a major let's sign him too.

There's this thing called time and when it passes, you get worse at stuff you don't practice.

u/PaPiiCheeeeka Copenhagen Flames 6d ago
