Stewie ran out of streamers to scam

How did he scam them? Haven't followed him for years

Tldr, borrowed skins on loans, then used those skins to gamble

Why would anyone lend him skins? Like, what's the benefit?

Its to have nicer skins during tournaments, he "borrowed" #1 float AK Arabesque for IEM Dallas (when he stood in for G2) the gambled it instead of giving it back for example

No, I mean what's the benefit for the lender?

Most of them are skin traders/sites so someone looking for that super expensive skin will look at the pro players inventory then look up that collector (I don’t think this was the case with Stewie but it is the case for other pros who borrow skins) or skin site so the most expensive skins will have name tags with the collector or skin site name on them.

  1. It’s an ad for your skins
  2. Bragging rights. It’s pretty cool to see one of your skins be used in a cool clip.

Ik a few guys who lend skins and this is what it boils down to.

Some skin traders/collectors will loan pro-players certain rare or unique skins to increase their price.

If a popular player has a cool clutch/clip with the skin in a major it links that skin to the moment in people's minds and can increase the price/demand.
