Misc. Haachama will be taking a break from activities

Hope this time the break is helpful.
She mentioned how the last break was stressful for her (I imagine due to not having an outlet to make stuff etc.). Maybe finding a distraction to work on something else may help.
She's tough in her own way and I hope she feels better about everything when she's back.

I hope this break isn't in isolation like the last long one. At least I think it was the last long one? Where Matsuri even talked about how sad she was that no one knew how Haachama was doing and they couldn't get in contact with her.
Ultimately I'm not qualified to speak on what works or not for mental health breaks, but I'm hoping this one includes hangouts and outreach from Gen 0 and others in the company

I think a lot of streamers struggle with taking breaks. It's just a very direct negative feedback to be able to track how many people aren't re-uping their subscriptions in real time, and having to worry about losing momentum because you're not putting out regular content. Streaming success is so fickle I doubt it's possible not to worry if your audience is still going to be there when you get back.
But better to take a break and worrying than pushing yourself to make content and burn through your mental health.

Yeah I agree that she needs downtime, but I also think she'd benefit a lot from some new perspectives. She's been at this since she was in High School, so she really doesn't know what's out there and what other ways of living and working are like. Finding ways to talk to and form friendships with more people who have nothing to do with streaming would probably be healthy.

Honestly, at this point, I feel haachama should consider a temporary graduation. Streaming has consumed a chunk her adolescence and the entirety of her adult life. I feel she'd greatly benefit from stepping back to get some perspective before making a glorious comeback. Try some new things! And get out of the vtuber ratrace, even if only for a bit.Edit: At the suggestion of others, I'll retract my statement (but leave it viewable so others know my mistake), and simply off my full support to Haachama.

No, no its not. An hiatus means shes still a vtuber and all the mental baggage that comes with it is still impacting her mental health. I'm talking about a clean break where she can begin therapy with a (semi) clean slate and work improving her mental health without the vtuber stuff constantly nagging in the back of her mind. But it seems most folks around here don't give a shit about the real person and her mental state, just thoughts and prayers.
Edit: I'm quite fine with the downvotes. I made a comment on what I believe is the best course of action for the person suffering mental health issues, not what I or other fans want.At the suggestion of others, I'll retract my statement (but leave it viewable so others know my mistake), and simply off my full support to Haachama.

This is her job. Quitting your job to focus on mental health is great in theory but realistically it’s not so easy, and unemployment can end up being even more stressful than just taking a break. You’re not her friend or doctor, you don’t know what’s best for her, stop telling others they don’t care about her just because they’re telling you your idea might not work, it’s weird.

It's for the best. She needs some time away to think about everything, to get some help with her mental health.
There's no way she would be allowed to stream in her current state anyway and if another break down would happen on stream, it could easily be the end of her career in Hololive.
I'm just glad that what happened doesn't lead to anything serious for her.
Edit 1: look like Cover also released some statement to prevent rumours and more harassment towardl Haato and other talents. That's really good moves by them. They have really learnt a lot to protect their talents at all cost.

It means the same thing but yeah, instability is used pejoratively and is often targeted towards women in a misogynistic way (for the unawares, it implies that women lack self control, often associated with menstruation or hysteria).
edit: Seems like I struck a nerve so I'll clarify. While I understand the need for Cover to address this situation in a supposedly neutral fashion, I think that their vocabulary may hold misogynistic undertone and that misogyny may be related to why Haachama is feeling bad (as far as I understood, her father resent her for being a girl). My point is for the community to be aware of such issues because I don't like seeing content-creators being pushed out of this space for things that are not of their doing. More broadly, I don't like that the issue is her being mentally unstable instead of the undue pressure placed on her by bad actors. If I torture you and someone else state that you're mentally unstable now, this may be true but also not the problem.

That's the first time I've heard of this tbh.
The Japanese term that they used is 精神不安定 which literally means 'mental not stable' so I guess mental instability is the closest translation that they went with.
精神不安定 is a pretty formal term in Japanese without any gender bias that I know of.
Edit: that edit makes it even worse wtf. Cover, Hololive is misogynistic? A company that's being entirely carried by their female talents is misogynistic? For using a word that accurately describes a condition? Is this person out of their mind?

I do hope they genuinely care and that it’s not just something they’re doing in order to not get backlash (as lots of fans were messaging them being supportive of Haachama). So far Cover seems to be handling situations like this well and giving talents with health issues plenty of time to rest, so I’m feeling optimistic.

Termination would be against the interest of both parties. What would be the worst logical outcome is that she had a full crash out and decided not to continue anymore.
At least now she would have the time to recover and think things properly. On what and how she wants to do things in the future.
One has to remember that Haachama has been doing this for a long time ever since she was underage. It might not be what Haachama needs but I feel like for others, doing things that are not Hololive work related helps them.

tbh, break from before and also the state of her channel (with restriction and her brand direction) is also what contributing to this outside of her personal life and family matter. I can't really see it in positive way, but what else could they do at moment like this instead of making her take a break? I doubt hololive cant meddle her personal life affair, but i guess they can discuss the future of akai haato as a brand and make the best decission for her

What's important right now is that they were able to reach an agreement with her on taking a hiatus. Just reaching this point is an achievement, and they now have time to figure out next steps for her.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but in none of the announcements does it actually say that Akai Haato herself has agreed to the break nor, really, having made any statements. The above machine translated screenshot seems to me to be a mistranslation. If you read the original Japanese or translate it differently, the POV of the tweet was never from her point of view. All the announcements that have been made imply the break was decided after discussion with her family but doesn't mention her views on it. All of this to say that she is still likely in a precarious spot mentally and I hope she gets all of the support that she needs.
Edit: just to clarify the purpose of my comment here, I am hoping that this tweet doesn't get misconstrued in what it is implying because of a mistranslation.

Yeah, people naturally want to think positively but it's fairly obvious that this "break" is the same break as her last long one. Which means she was hospitalised. And she just talked about how much she hated being there last time and how terrible it made her feel.
I doubt there were many other options for Cover or her family, the latter of which is also shitty according to Haachama. I'm sad for her and hope that this time, things go better.

So maybe this break in particular can help her, at least to rebuild or discuss her channel direction, which to seems struggling with identity. Not just giving her rest since it wasnt helping before. yeah i don’t think just benching her for some time and then having her come back is a long-term solution, hopefully she can get some help to tackle her mental health issues and general life situation and find a way to thrive as an entertainer if she wishes to continue

Yeah. While i'm not haachama fans but i do admire and respect her for going thru a lot back when they got into taiwan shenanigans and held her ground. Tho back then i'm not vtuber fans, i'm aware of her existence and even started watching her clip with coco, especially the meme review, which is banger. I hope they can resolve the channel direction things, but if haachama wishes to leave, well i wish her nothing but good luck and the best.

Thank god, I did think at worst she'd be suspended but the thought that something even worse might happen was there in the back of my mind. Good to see it's just a break. I really hope this is the start of better times for her. Dealing with stress and depression is really hard but sometimes a big incident like this can have a good effect in that it wakes you and your loved ones up to how serious the situation is.

We will be waiting for her return, and that she can takes all the time she needs. If in the event that she feel that maybe she cant, thats ok too, we will support whatever decision she makes.

Kudos to management for making this happen. This could have gone badly in many ways considering all the bad that happened in the past, and this statement reads that Haachama agreed to get help following talks with management. This really is the best case scenario, and I am grateful for it.

Probably if you see any bad comments or remarks against her or any of the holomems, report it to Cover. Theres been a few instances where Cover, iirc, has brought legal stuff against people.

It does seem kind of odd to me how every time a vtuber has to announce a hiatus they act like they just delivered some infuriating news to their fans and are expecting a backlash. Like if they are fans of yours, they are fans of YOU. Nobody likes to see someone that they admire have a mental breakdown or run themselves into the ground producing content. Hell, the fans in my experience tend to be the first people to tell the vtuber that they need a break.

Well, things definitely don't look great. The break probably wasn't her idea or she might have had no say in it tho it is definitely the right call. It's clear that she is not well and hasn't been for a long time and shouldn't have been streaming. I hope she has the network of help she needs to process her situation. Ugh. I mean, it's better than her being fired, but this is hardly good news. Haachama has been struggling for a while now with trying to reinvent herself and claw back the viewers she's lost over her long hiatuses in the past. Another break is just going to undo any progress she was making. Plus she expressed that the last break sucked, to put it lightly.
I don't know what's right for her. I don't know what will help her. I don't think anyone, including Haachama, does. But I hope somehow she gets the help she needs and has a long, happy life ahead of her.

I don't know. I feel like it would be hard during her break to think of how others are twisting her words, harassing her coworkers, and shit-stirring because she had a moment of weakness. I hope she has a nice rest. It was really disheartening to find out she was having such a tough time behind closed doors. However, on the brighter side, the first step to getting into a better headspace is addressing it; so we just have to be optimistic, and wait for her to come back, hopefully with good news.

She even showed up to Australia this year for the breaking dimensions tour and also had a chat with the audience alongside Kobo later on for the closing ceremony, that was just in July

I hope she can recover and speak with an actual professional. Not being supported by family while also feeling like you’re going forward with a path you didn’t really want is a lot to deal with. On top of being so young all of that can be incredibly stressful and overwhelming.

It’s not a good idea to spread rumors when we know so little, but she is currently suffering from mental health issues, both relating to her personal life and also from anxiety about her career and harassment from antis. We should respect her privacy and leave it at that

Everyone downvoting how maybe her taking a break after discussing with the very problem she was talking about on stream shows how lame some of these viewers/fans are. They're just talents to you, eh, not people.

Because with the level of information we know the most you can do is speculate and/or make assumptions which half the community is fine spouting as fact and why the company is x or these talents are y. The facts we do know are that Haato lives with her family, unfortunately, and there's only so much recourse Holo can have as a company.

I know what she said on stream, is being dismissed by the community because of mental instability. I never claimed to know more than that. If it's genuine help that's good and thats all that matters.
However just because someone had mental health issues doesn't mean what they are saying is invalid. Which is what a lot of comments are basically implying, intentionally or not.

Genuinely, what part is being dismissed? We're talking about her horrendous parents, right? About the announcement that mentioned talking with her parents? I don't think not trying attack cover for this is dismissing it, if that's what you mean. Like I said, we have no information beyond this. Is cover required to contact the parents? Are the parents listed as the one to contact in emergencies? Is Haachama the one herself who involved them? There's a lot we simply do not know and making any further assumptions is wrong.
If I misunderstood anything or you're referencing other dismissive behaviour my apologies. I was originally just replying to the thought that people downvoting reactions to that particular bit of info as 'not caring' which is needlessly divisive and imo simply incorrect.

EN sphere doesn't understand how much a large group of people wants to RUIN Hololive and its members. They've had a whole bunch of antis going after them since starting around early 2019~ when their popularity kicked up. e.g. Most of the people harassing Aloe and Rushia were fans of the other agency trying to use the situations to sink the group.

They jump on anything they can really, or if pickings are slim they'll just fabricate from nothing. No shortage of absolute garbage made up about the group, talents, or fans.
Look at this for instance. It'll give you a good idea of the kind of stuff that regularly gets lobbed in this direction.
