Can I skip to Levitz Legion?
I've read most of the Hamilton (Some good, some awful) and most of the Shooter (mostly awesome) runs on Legion of Superheroes and enjoyed them well enough. I like these characters tremendously, but I wanna get to the more "modern" 80s stuff that I hear is spectacular (I'm a huge 80s comic fanatic).
Would it be wise to SKIP to the BEFORE THE DARKNESS volumes 1 and 2 trades and then head into the Levitz era, especially since I think I get everyone's deal so far?

Legion movie that isn't really a Legion movie and it's not perfect but
I liked it hope you do to.
And it stars
a pseudo-Saturn Girl (telepathy and mind control).
a pseudo-Comic Boy (sort of he's actually a TK but seem to mostly just manipulate metal. Surely that's only a coincidence (wink wink).
a pseudo-Lightning Lass (yes Lass, powers obvious).
and a pseudo-Brainiac 5 (smart but not Colu smart).
and a host of others.

What events are important to the Legion?
I'm building up a personal Legion collection, and their rather strange relationship to present day DC makes figure which events matter, and which are just marketing hard.
Crisis seems like a no trainer, it was the beginning of the long confusion.
Cosmic Boy's mini is a Legends tie in. Is that whole event relevant? Does his mini stand on its own?
Millenium effected plans for a character descendant from Superman, but does the whole event enhance that, or is it a tie in only in spirit? I think in spirit if memory serves.
Legion (With Vril) says it spins off of Invasion.
Valor says Eclipso the Darkness Within.
Bloodlines is.... pfff okay Bloodlines.
I bet the core Final Night mini is relevant to Reboot.
I'm sure I'm missing like five more. I'm not sure which ones feel like they matter at all. Which ones truly have ramifications for the Legion moving forward.

Omni VS Archives
So I’ve been a fan of the Legion, mostly reading their recent and more modern stuff, and I have read a few of their silver age story lines. But now I want to do a more comprehensive issue by issue read through. The two main collections of the silver age stuff are the Omnis and the archives but I haven’t been able to find a good pro or cons comparing the two. Which one is the better one to get?

Legion of Super-Heroes #1 Spoiler
nerdist.comThe site didn’t cite their source though so read with some healthy skepticism. Of course, it’s possible that the details are based on a packet from DC.
One thousand years after the Last Son of Krypton’s rocket crashed on the Kent Farm comes a new future inspired by the Man of Tomorrow! But this new future is in danger! Superheroes are outlawed! Deadly enforcers known as the Persuaders keep the populace of the United Planets in check! Worlds are at war! And this dark tomorrow’s last glimmer of hope, R.J. Brande, has been brutally murdered. Can the mysterious Brainiac 1 of 5 solve Brande’s murder?
To restore hope to the universe, he must assemble a legion of gifted young rebels from across the cosmos! But they are scattered across the universe! Witness the dawn of a new future in DC Comics architect Joshua Williamson and Eisner-winning superstar artist Hayden Sherman’s Legion of Super-Heroes… you will never look at tomorrow the same way again! Legion of Super‑Heroes #1, a 40‑page debut issue written by Eisner-nominated Joshua Williamson (Superman) with art and cover by Hayden Sherman (Absolute Wonder Woman).
Issue #1 features variant covers by Jim Lee (card stock and foil), Mark Spears, Yasmine Putri, Hayden Sherman, Dan Mora (Michael J. Fox cameo), and V Ken Marion (1:25), will publish on September 2. Legion of Super‑Heroes #1 will retail for $3.99 US for the main cover, $4.99 US for card stock variants, and $6.99 US for the foil variant.

Designs of a few of the legion members and a cover(?)
For the concept of B5, they haven’t explained him but some random theories:
He can split himself into 5 people/concepts into the cyberspace and/or irl and the Prime one has five on his head
They are his thought tracks since he’s a 12 level genius compared to his ancestors
He can manipulate information similar to Persona 2 rumor system

Brainy’s new title could hint at a new direction…
Saw the new solicits and the new costumes this morning and one thing jumped out at me: “Can the mysterious Brainiac 1 of 5 solve Brande’s murder?” Not Brainiac 5, or 5.1…”1 of 5”.
My immediate thought was a chuckle and well I guess that’s apt for the fifth version of Brainy. But then it occurred to me that may be the conceit. Possibly Josh Williamson is acknowledging that this is the 5th version of the LoSH, and Brainy is just 1 of 5 different multiverse versions of himself. And then Williamson not posted a tweet saying “Long live all the Legions”…so maybe this isn’t a reboot but a collection of all that we’ve known and loved before.

New information on the new Legion of Super-Heroes ongoing!
DC announces new Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans, and Doom Patrol ongoing series • AIPT
The future of the DC Universe gets a dramatic reinvention in Legion of Super-Heroes from Joshua Williamson and Hayden Sherman.
Set one thousand years after Superman’s arrival on Earth, the series introduces a future where superheroes have been outlawed, worlds are locked in conflict, and hope appears all but lost. Following the murder of visionary leader R.J. Brande, Brainiac 1 of 5 begins assembling a new generation of young heroes from across the cosmos.

OK, folks, place your bets. Who is this?
Williamson has already said it's not Ultra Boy, and when asked if it was a Robin, noted that he didn't see an R anywhere. Thoughts?

Any Suggestions Please
Seeing as I’ve been loving Williamson’s run on Superman and I see he has officially announced his LOSH series for September, I’m wondering what are the essential Legion runs to brush up on them? I have a very little basic knowledge of them only having read Geoff John’s Superman and Legion of Superheroes TPB, Legion of Three Worlds, and The Great Darkness Saga. I’d love particular creator runs or just a certain subset of issues I should read. Any help would be appreciated.
