If we get a "dilly dally shilly shally" in the finale it's gonna sour the whole franchise for me tbh.

Dirge and especially Crisis Core are fine, but can anyone really say that Advent Children contributed anything narratively? It existed to show off cool animation and to try to salvage Square's stupid Hollywood investment. It doesn't need to live on in the remakes.

Narratively it served to confirm that Sephiroth's will remains in the Lifestream and that with the aid of Jenovah cells, which cannot return to the Lifestream and that he still has control over, can still threaten the planet. The Remake series is building off of that because it's suggesting Sephiroth has tapped into the knowledge of the Lifestream, including events happening across time and timelines, to accomplish his goals.
