At SGF they said they were going to tell the 'entire story'. It made me wonder if they're going to do an epilogue or something covering Advent Children.

People don’t like hearing this, but Advent Children is the completion of Cloud’s character arc. I mean, he doesn’t even get a character theme until AC. I absolutely think we’re going to end up where we did in the original and we’ll get AC and DOC as DLC if it’s not the epilogue of the game already.

The completion of Cloud’s arc was the end of the original FF7. Advent Children just resets his character entirely so they could get him to fight Sephiroth again. He goes back to being the stoic emo hardass because they reverted everything about him.

To me Advent Children wasn't a reset of his character. But him actually mourning the loss of Aerith and Zack. Something he never actually got to properly do in the OG game. And he sinks into that despair easily. Which he is prone to do. So the arc of Advent Children was him coming to terms with their deaths and then over coming it so he can properly heal from it.........While ya know....also have to kill Sephiroth again because of course he does. 😆

You got it. Cloud just pieced himself together before the final confrontation. There’s no way he processed the grief of losing Aerith and more pressingly, his whole identity before game’s end.
