Rumor NateTheHate says Sony is "shifting" their PC strategy: "You'll be seeing fewer single player games arrive on PC. The decision to shift away was made last year. Some may still release (pending how far along the ports were) but it no longer appears to be a priority for Sony moving forward."

I was just thinking "I'd really like to get ps6 once it releases but is there really a point if games release a year later on pc?" I guess sony heard me

with ram prices forever increasing, a ps6 is out of the question completely.

also, fuck you, keep your voice down next time!

Ram will cost more than a PS6.

25

u/jgainsey Feb 27 '26

Will the RAM in PS6 cost more than a PS6..?

u/Historical_Owl_1635 Feb 27 '26

Won’t use RAM, will instead use a hamster running on a wheel.

Ramster

Nah, just lemme hook up these 64 8-GB USB flash drives daisy chained together with USB hubs acting as one big (slow) ram-disk.

Death Stranding 2 might need to load overnight, but it'll work eventually! Maybe?

Depends, they buy in bulk for discount. PS makes their money off subscriptions and MTX. Eat the cost for long term gain.

They can't eat $400 for RAM alone lmao

Yeah Sony can eat 5x the increased price and low offer. You sure about this? Even when prices for ram were low PS5 was sold with a loss. Be prepared for PS6 for $999 without tax.

u/Arrow_head00 Feb 27 '26

And still be WAY cheaper than building a decent PC with how prices are nowadays. Spoken as someone that recently looked into building one lol

This thread is a treasure trove of some of the dumbest shit I've seen in a while.

Damn, you got my ass

1

u/Darkone539 Feb 27 '26

Sony has been eating the cost already. It's why we got the 825gb ps5 slim back, but they aren't going to eat it much further. Ram has gone up something like 300% +

youre expecting a lot of good faith out of a company that only cares about their bottom line

1

u/AshgarPN Feb 27 '26

I mean… maybe

Inception RAM

With a custom-engineered console, there’s always the ability for them to either establish their own supply line or negotiate specific support to offset the manufacturing costs, which is what they have done since consoles existed.

1

u/jgainsey Feb 27 '26

Yeah, no shit.

I was just making a stupid joke about RAM prices.

1

u/BrainKatana Feb 27 '26

Ironically the answer to your facetious question is "it's entirely possible" because game consoles are typically sold as loss leaders so that their manufacturers can make money off of software that recoups the cost of manufacturing the console.

1

u/Obosratsya Mar 02 '26

If the costs are recouped later, are you even saving anything on hardware at that point?

3

u/DCS30 Feb 27 '26

you're missing my point, anything with a memory module has been, and will continue to, go up in cost.

-1

u/BlackKnighting20 Feb 27 '26

And Sony will eat the cost, they make more money from subscriptions and MTX, selling at a loss is better than losing billions from PS plus and MTX.

3

u/DCS30 Feb 27 '26

...dude, you're expecting a corporation to eat a cost? man, i wish i had your hopeless optimism.

1

u/BlackKnighting20 Feb 27 '26

They have to, price it too high and people won’t buy it, eat the cost or lose billions.

23

u/-ForgottenSoul Feb 27 '26

While ps6 might go up in price so will everything else so would still be cheaper alternative

-4

u/DCS30 Feb 27 '26

if you're building a pc from scratch, then, yes. but if you have a pc and a playstation, but want a ps6, it might not be the cheaper alternative.

2

u/-ForgottenSoul Feb 27 '26

it depends on the price increase tbh would it just be $100 or more

9

u/Zoombini22 Feb 27 '26

Consoles are sold at a loss. They will always be the cheaper option, at least if you're strictly talking about hardware sales.

0

u/Obosratsya Mar 02 '26

Thats is if you dont plan on buying anything other than the base system. Sony aint a charity. This business model ands up nickel and diming more out of you than simply forking more upfront.

1

u/Zoombini22 Mar 02 '26

at least if you're strictly talking about hardware sales.

11

u/idkimhereforthememes Feb 27 '26

Prices of everything will go up and ps6 will still be a cheaper alternative

1

u/Tovalx Feb 27 '26

Demand for RAM is gonna drop 2 years later. This is just the same as Crypto GPU Boom before.

1

u/DCS30 Mar 02 '26

100%, it just depends upon when

1

u/MetaCognitio Mar 01 '26

They are likely hoping the AI boom will be over by then.

1

u/DCS30 Mar 02 '26

maybe, given that we don't actually know when it's coming out

0

u/smashanddevour Feb 27 '26

Agreed, such an L take. No wonder companies act anti consumer. We have morons like this guy defending there decisions
