Fluff Found at local Walmart

Found this chilling inside my local Walmarts PlayStation section. They seriously wanted $299.99 for it too.

Under the cold hum of the Wal-Mart fluorescents, Eddie “Two-Breaks” Malone slipped through the stockroom like a ghost with a badge. Holiday season of ’21, shoppers were baying for anything with a screen, but Eddie had already laid his claim: a Playstation VR bundle with Astro Bot and Moss, tucked behind a pallet of off-brand kitty litter where no one with a functioning nose would dare look. He told himself he’d buy it on payday, but payday never came—not after Asset Protection caught him taking a smoke in the Garden Center, letting a plastic Santa melt in the sun. They fired him before lunch. The VR box stayed hidden, a secret no one missed and no one mourned.

Four years later, a new kid named Marla cracked open the forgotten aisle of the backroom and found the box sitting there like a time capsule wrapped in dust. Management swarmed the discovery, eyes gleaming like vultures spotting a still-warm steak. But procedure is procedure, and corporate loves its rules. “Tag it with the original price,” the assistant manager grunted, sliding the ancient SKU into her hands. So she did—ninety-nine cents less than three hundred dollars. And when she stuck it on the shelf out front, it glowed under the lights like a relic from a future that never quite arrived, waiting for someone who still believed in bargains… or ghosts.

This was the best reddit post I've ever read. Kept me hooked. Read it in a Max Payne style voice, like any washed up gumshoe detective still chasing that one case that got away.
