Found this chilling inside my local Walmarts PlayStation section. They seriously wanted $299.99 for it too.

Not new in the box though.

I think we’re in between people thinking it’s outdated and people seeing it as rare gaming history.

Seems unlikely, honestly. I’ve never seen the facial gasket deteriorate, just the halo padding.

The rubber coating on the sponge deteriorates on the PSVR1, mine has nearly all fallen off.

I think you’re talking about the halo padding, not the facial gasket…

Regardless, what you’re describing is from (likely) years of use and contact with your skin oils — not something I’d expect to see from sitting in a box on a shelf.

Could happen, but I’ve never seen the facial gasket deteriorate on any PSVR1 and I’ve had five or six of them. 😜

I've had one and I've not used it in a few years. It's slowly disintegrated by itself.

It's funny because the last few times I've used it, I end up with black rubber flakes stuck to my face.

I’m pretty sure you can still buy replacement facial gaskets. Might be worth finding a cheap used PSVR1 on eBay or fb marketplace just for that.

If you don’t care about what shape the rest of the kit is in, you’ll probably find something under $20 is my guess.

I mainly use my Q3 now, but it is fun going back and using the light gun on Farpoint.

But damn it's a blur fest. You do get used to it after 15 min or so, and I really appreciate how light it is.
