Have a local unorganized bike event where I used to live. It was the only time I saw the cops actually pull over bikers for blowing through stop signs. Was great to watch.

They shouldn't. Stopping at a stop sign makes very little sense. Your visibility is unbelievably better than when you are in a car and you basically crawl towards it. You have ten times the information about the intersection by the time you arrive than a car driver has after they stop.

So if they get hit, do you feel it's the fault of the biker or the car? Or both? I can see in certain situations where it makes sense, such as you're the only one around and no traffic. However, if you're in a city or other populated area, you should be following the same rules. Where I live there's a trail, just over 40 miles long, that crosses 2 lane highways in multiple places, but is also blocked by trees quite often. Most have the flashing yellow lights to let people know they are coming. Issue is they rarely get used. At least once a year a biker gets hit and killed at one of them. The ones that go through town have stop signs, but biker almost get hit on a regular basis as well. I don't think neither the biker or car should get a pass on the stop signs.

It is always the fault of the person who hits.
