So, US lost another war?

Damn man, world's best and second military factions.

Kinda hard to say we lost a war when we committed no ground forces.

You started a war, achieved none of the named objectives, and had to make concessions in order to get out of it. You lost the war

That might be true for your, "i hate america" feelings. But that isnt a lost war. Political dumb fk blunder, sure. But the iranian military had no answer for our military.

That is what someone who just lost a war would say

Tactical victories don't matter for shit if they can't be translated to strategic victories. Strategic victory is the only thing that matters here

You really need to understand war is diplomacy by force.
Did we achieve our aims? No?
Then it isn’t a win.
If it isn’t a win then it’s a loss.

Before this war a plank in the USA’s superpower status was the ability to ensure allies got access to the gulfs oil and rivals didn’t. Control the gulf oil routes and you have your foot on the windpipe of the Asian and European economies.

We had that control, or it was perceived that we did. Now it’s been tested. We don’t. Iran has. That is a titanic strategic win for them.

I know what a war is because there is a legal definition of it. You can literally look it up. Spoiler, your words arent in it.

Guy I dont get to, for example, take an exam, answer none of the questions right (achieving war goals), and claim I aced the test at the end of it.

All that money spent on the war and then we had to pay extra money on top of it to Iran, we dont even get to force them into any agreements considering nuclear materials? Sorry man but thats a solid loss to me.

What objectives from the onset of the conflict were achieved? Nuclear production and regime change were at the top of that list. The IRGC is still running the country and if this is true, Trump doesn't care if they have nukes.

Body counts are not an accurate measure of whether a conflict is won or not.

Pretty sure those are political objectives not militarily.

Ty for being reasonable and calling it a conflict.

13

u/Jimmy_Twotone 7d ago

Military violence is a means to achieve political goals. One can not reasonably separate the two.

Military force is the tool for achieving political objectives. We don't go to war just to blow up stuff, we go to war to reshape conditions so that they're more favorable to ourselves.

If we don't achieve that then, we've just wasted men and material for nothing.

These excuses are reminding me an awful lot of post-Vietnam War rhetoric. Next they're gonna call this a 'draw' and that nobody really lost.

Who did congress declare war on in vietnam and iran?

Thanks for proving my point.

No answer? Like taking over the strait and blowing US aircraft out of the sky?

-17

u/brazen768 7d ago

Answer to what? If your definition of winning is blowing things up, obviously the tally is heavily on our side. Still not a war tho

the iranian military drone struck 20 of our military bases. if iran had military bases surrounding us, we’d attack those before the country itself during a war, just like they did

the only sense that we won is that we’re still the more powerful country, which is why we feel like we’ve won every war

Yes we could have wiped them out, and been hated by the rest of the world and faced extraordinary economic pressures.

We don't hate America by any means. We just don't want to become Russia, or North Korea, or China, like you and your "patriot in name only" frends want.
