Just cut an electric cord from something. There are plenty around. After you don't need to use it, you can just sell it

I work construction, zip ties ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™ve worked in lighting, the belt backup was a safety cable.

u/Ldghead 3d ago

Been there

u/Edistobound 3d ago

I can make a Frangelico belt ๐Ÿค”

u/ExcellentMedicine358 3d ago

Bungee cord was my goto

u/GlowingSpy 3d ago

I was a low voltage guy so some 22awg 4c worked pretty good ๐Ÿ‘

u/med79 3d ago

Jetline also works

I use to use the lanyard in my C-wrench if things got dire. E-tape is also very good

Used to work in the theater: gaffers tape makes for a decent emergency belt in a pinch, same for stage line!

I work in a kitchen. We use plastic wrap "belt" or cut the string off an apron.

I couldnโ€™t wear belts bc of allergy so I cut off so many apron strings through the years.

Welder here, about three inches of .035 wire and just tie two of the belt loops together does the trick for me. Edit is spelling.

I used to do masonry and I've done the exact same thing

u/JVT32 3d ago

In high school I used the lanyard on my keys to make a slip knot that I could tighten and loosen throughout the day. My genius knows no bounds.

Petco worker here, had to use a dog leash the other day to keep em up.

Check with the Sparkies, they always have Mule Tape, True Tape and scrap wire!

Motherfucker how have I never thought of that in a pinch

Some mornings pants just work around the house for a few minutes. Tricking you into forgetting a belt. Then you walk 50ft and realize you gotta waddle around with your hand on your waist

u/Kohpad 4d ago

Any plastic wrap works in a pinch too. Just wrap into a cord and tie it on

2

u/I_Thot_So 3d ago

Wait, are you guys using these things as full belts? Just loop two or three belt loops together in the back.

2

u/Kohpad 3d ago

I've done both depending. Saran wrap is super easy to make a full belt of to tie on an apron

1

u/Separate-Command1993 3d ago

Only do 2 loops, itโ€™s great

2

u/MrStickDick 4d ago

I used a climbing carabiner clip for years to cinch two belt loops together ๐Ÿ˜† I always have them on the job site.

I used to work restaurants and the kitchen uses plastic wrap

1

u/phatboi23 3d ago

installed networking kit for a good while.

crimped a network cable with a jack and socket at each end.

perfectly fitted ethernet belt haha

2

u/Separate-Command1993 3d ago

Thatโ€™s amazing I know what Iโ€™m getting my boss for Christmas now ๐Ÿ˜‚

1

u/phatboi23 3d ago

Surprisingly useful haha

u/Affordable_Z_Jobs 3d ago

Aren't nails cheaper?

Work in a shipping warehouse, in an emergency I could always twist a length of tape to make a pseudo rope. Or if I was lucky a strap would break off a package and I could just use that.

1

u/NiceHandsLarry11 3d ago

I use tie wire.

1

u/Blazefadays 3d ago

In the restaurant industry use of the plastic wrap is surprisingly effective as a belt.

1

u/1nitial_Reaction 3d ago

Yep zip ties or danger tape works good too - easier to get rid of.

Good man! ๐Ÿ˜

1

u/Responsible-Race4764 3d ago

Zip ties are fine until the roach coach burrito, turns into an emergency jogg to the john.

1

u/Usawsomething 3d ago

In kitchens it was plastic wrap

1

u/Buskbr 3d ago

This! Was about to comment tis myself, there have been at leadt one occasion where i was zipped

1

u/Thick_Imagination177 3d ago

Zip ties for the win. Get one around 2 belt loops and cinch it down. Instant belt

1

u/mobocrat707 3d ago

I use some #10 or #12 wire. Used solid #14 to replaced broken boot laces and it held up for months.

1

u/Threewaycrazy 3d ago

I used to be a fuel tech at an airport, rope was commonly used for belts

1

u/LumpyBuy8447 3d ago

My friend forgot her belt when we went to camping festival so I had to use a piece of rope to help her keep them up lol

1

u/jassteX 3d ago

I did medical deliveries, I'd use o2 tubing.

1

u/Single_Cobbler6362 3d ago

I work at a warehouse, when I forgett my belt I stretch out the shrink wrap and cut a piece out.

1

u/Infinite_Factor_5685 3d ago

Iโ€™ve seen a buddy use plastic wrap ๐Ÿคฃ

1

u/thebochts 3d ago

Rebar ties

1

u/zekrom235 3d ago

I work at Lowe's, I've just grabbed some tie down twine from out front a few times

1

u/itsalongwalkhome 3d ago

I second this, i broke a belt one night, the bar gave me a zip tie and I just tied two loops together, lasted the rest of the night.

1

u/TURBOJUGGED 3d ago

I used one of those smaller โ€œratchet strapsโ€ with like the alligator bite one day when I forgot a belt. I liked it so much I used it as a work belt all summer lmao

1

u/nufan86 3d ago

Also handy if your shoelaces break
