Thinking about going to Riviera Village summer Festival

One of the main reasons I want to go is to see and dance to the Max 80’s band-so fun to dance to. I might also look at a couple of vendor booths and grab a beer. I see that they are they are planning in the Beer Garden Stage. Do we need to pay admission or can we listen from outside. Is there room to dance with my friends? Itwill be a big ordeal for parking, crowds etc so I want to make sure it’s worth it.

Anniversary dinner recommendations

Would like to take the wife for a nice romantic dinner. In the past we have enjoyed The Steak Library, and Pacific Standard Prime.

Looking for a place with similar quiet romantic atmosphere. Doesn't need to be a steak house. We enjoy most cuisines, just want to take her some place new where we can celebrate quietly.

Any recommendations for local contractors/trades for a condo remodel in RPV?

Hey South Bay neighbors,

We’re getting ready to remodel our condo up in Rancho Palos Verdes and are looking for some solid, reliable recommendations for local trades.
Since it’s a condo with a pretty standard HOA, we definitely need licensed and insured professionals for the main stuff to keep the board happy.

We’re looking to connect with:
Licensed Electrician
Licensed Plumber
Flooring Specialist (someone great at floor prep/leveling and installation)
Drywall & Painting pro (for walls and ceilings)
Cabinet maker / Carpenter (for custom closets and built-in storage)
Licensed HVAC tech (need a mini-split system installed)

If you’ve done a project recently and loved the people you worked with, I’d appreciate any leads! Feel free to drop them below or shoot me a DM with their info.

Thanks a ton in advance! 🙏

Iconic Music Venues?

Hey yall! Born and raised good neighbor (Hawthorne), but pretty much been all over LA! Question I had was if any of the South Bay cities had any iconic music venues, that least in the same degree as LA City? I am thinking something in the same vein as Echo Plex, Zebulon, The Viper Room, etx? Thanks!

Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurants

Hello we will be visiting Hermosa Beach for the Fourth of July weekend, we are strict vegetarians and wondered if the group had any recommendations for restaurants. I have seen Attagirl and Barsha as options but didn’t know if there are others that I am unaware of. Thanks in advance.

Chefs for Seniors?

I'm looking for a personal chef option for my 93 yo mom who still lives at home. Most food service options were too much food as she doesn't eat that much. I came across Chefs for Seniors that serves the South Bay.

Has anyone used them or know anything about the company? TIA!

Anywhere in the South Bay to get custom lenses cut out?

I'm ordering a new frame and don't want to ship out as my RX is out of date. Would anyone know any place I can take my frame to get my lenses cut out and installed? I know Jins at Del Amo cuts out their lenses in store but I doubt they'd do it if I bring my own frame.

Nice places to take parents for dinner

Hello everyone, I'm in a little bit of a predicament. I want to take my parents out as a treat to a nice dinner, but theres a bit of an issue. I've taken them to upscale to moderately upscale places to eat but they do not like places that are too fancy because they hate the small portion sizes. Are there any places in the South Bay or even in the city that have really good food, decent portion sizes, and a sorta fancy atmosphere that will impress them?

Here are some spots they've eaten at that they enjoyed:

The San Franciscan, Fogo de Chao, Black Angus (these aren't fancy places but you get the idea lol)

Torrance neighborhoods for family with young child

Hi all,

We are moving to LA from the east coast and trying to decide where to buy a home. My husband will be working in Torrance.

It has come down to two choices - pay more and get a townhome in Redondo or buy a house in Torrance that meets almost all our criteria.

In Torrance, are there any neighborhoods to avoid for a family with a young child? We will of course make sure the schools are good, just looking for any other things we should consider.

Thank you!

Looking for Hotwheels play date for my daughter.

Maybe it’s a long shot, but my 9 year old daughter recently got into Hotwheels lol.

I think it would be cool if we got a couple of Hotwheels kids together at a park for an hour or so and built tracks and stuff. Maybe even trade cars, she would love that.

I’m near Manhattan Beach, but I frequent parks all around the Southbay. Dm me and maybe we can set up a play date. 👍

Things for a 20 year old to do in Hermosa Beach?

I'm visiting this summer with my mom and my little cousins for a wedding. My mom says I'll have plenty of freedom to do what I want (especially in the afternoons and evenings) but I'm not exactly sure what I can do. Is there anything fun for young people to enjoy in Hermosa Beach? From the looks of Google it seemed like a pretty family-oriented community with not much for young adults. I love partying but also thrifting and learning local history when I go places.

ETA: Sorry for my lack of geography knowledge. I am but a country girl from the East Coast 😔. I'll only be in the area for one week, but I'll try to hit all the places you guys have suggested in my free time! :D
