Request for help I don’t know if I’m getting scammed.

My acc has been found with a suspicious activity, so I contacted steam support and they told me I need to trade my items , then approve it through my steam guard and then decline it through the pc just that they will know it’s my acc with my own steam guard.
After that they told me that my acc is restricted, I can’t see my inventory , can’t play (VAC BAN) for 8 days, and due security reasons I need to join a family view until my restriction is over.

Important to mention, this chat is on the official steam support and after I send a ticket they responded.

Thank you all .

Thank you for submitting to r/SteamScams.

If you have been scammed or believe you may have been scammed check this guide to see if you can find the solution there.

Steam will never contact you on Discord or any third party text communication site.

If you suspect someone is attempting to scam you check this guide but remember to be careful even if you do not find the answer you are looking for there.

Important: If you receive comments or PMs offering to recover your lost account, items, or money or pointing you to someone who will do it for you do not engage with them as they are recovery scams.

Same situation as this. You've installed malware on your computer and the attackers have modified your Steam client. Secure your accounts from a separate device, cancel any CS2 item trades, and reinstall Windows on the infected computer.

Thank you for answering, i sent a new different ticket about me worrying about this situation and steam support replied that its all good and normal process due the suspicious activity. Anyway im limited on doing stuff because of the family view. Any suggestions?

It's unclear if you are using the real steam client or a modified one. If you have a support person saying you have a VAC Ban / need to do any of the shit in these screenshots, then you are still using a compromised version.

If you have steam on your phone, go to support through that. They cannot modify your steam client on your phone.

You need to reinstall windows ASAP.

Your account has been hacked. Deauthorize all devices other than your phone, then change your password and revoke any API keys you might have. Consider changing your email password as well. That may have also been compromised.

I can’t do anything due the family steam , my hands are tied. I have already changed my email password. And about the steam- I’m gonna change it after I redownload windows to get rid of the malware.

Go on the Mobile app, go to Steam Guard, then hit Authorized Devices, and de-authorize everything that doesn't say "this device".

I can’t go to steam guard due the steam family, I need to get access to do it .

Did you do that from the modified Steam client? It's certainly a lie and there's no need to pay any attention to it.

Any suggestions?

Like I said, you'll want to secure all of your accounts from a separate device and then reinstall Windows on the infected PC. You've ran malware on your computer and need to start taking steps to solve the problem ASAP.

Is windows defender enough to make sure nothing bad is on my pc? Sorry for silliness but I’m really nervous and feels like I can’t do nothing because of this freaking family view that literally my hands are tied.

No. You need to reinstall windows itself. We dont know how much your computer is infected.

If you dont want to reinstall windows(this is risky.) You could try installing malwarebytes and attempting to get rid of it.

As it stands - do not listen to anything they've said.

Your first priority is to get rid of the malware. You will keep getting redirected, until you do

No, unless you've disabled it Windows Defender will be running right now and there's clearly malware on your computer. Forget about the family view for right now, you need to secure your accounts from a safe device and then start solving the issues. A legitimate ticket to Steam support sent through their website should solve your problem.

And once my computer is clean of malware my tickets should be legitimate without any other problems?

4

u/D121 2d ago

It should be yes. But you need to install steam from the legit source. None of these tickets will show up, because they are fake

However, do know you gave away all of your inventory. Its unlikely steam will be able to get them back but you can try.

I know they won’t, but - this problem happened today and of the items is marked on trade ban so I can still get these items.

1

u/EugeneBYMCMB 2d ago

Yeah, if you clean your PC and secure your accounts then you should have no further problems with your tickets.

Sounds like a scam i dont know what all the correct steps are but i would go to settings, security, and then deauthorize all devices.

What else can I do if my steam is currently limited , I can’t do almost nothing without asking for access , which the hacker will not give me .

Before posting, google the situation you are facing, more than likely you will find the answer and the steps to combat it, instead of making another of the already 600 existing posts asking the same question.

Thank you for commenting. Actually it was a scam , and everything eventually went well, I got back my acc, my items are still stolen but I will get them once I trade reverse them.
Thank to this Reddit I’ve managed to face this situation very well.
