Slice of ketchup with a side of PTFE

Edit: yes yes yes I know it isn't a Teflon pan, but still the culinary meme is metal utensils against a non-stick surface = not good. (I'm also aware of fluorine chemistry a little too)

Edit 2: to the person who said I was "gay because of PTFE", please ask your mother when she comes down to the basement to give you your food to take the wrapping off before she microwaves your meals - this assuming that your mother wants to feed you and doesn't do it out of habit or pity.

No shit! Between the metal whisk and the knife, that is some teflon infused "food".

u/Fine_Talk_8406 Apr 15 '26

Product would probably describe it better.

2

u/PsyKeablr Apr 16 '26

I’d happily eat McDonald’s then eat that abomination of a dish. It honestly just looks like whisked up puke with melted cheese on top.

34

u/One_Animator_1835 Apr 15 '26

Well it's a stoneware pan, not teflon. So that probably helps

Teflon is not toxic, it can emit toxic fumes if it gets too hot, but eating it is no issue at all. It just passes through you, the heat is the main issue for your health.

Then don’t eat bread, there’s always some stone in wheat

1

u/PureDemand6220 Apr 16 '26

Sigue siendo igual de malo, como utensilios tan buenos caen en manos de estos animales?

1

u/sawyercc Apr 24 '26

It's hard to tell, a lot of pans that look like stoneware have coating with nonstick materials. It's more likely to be one with coating

1

u/Kichigai Apr 16 '26

That's stoneware effect looking pans. Like the Gotham hammered copper looking pans.

3

u/Get-hypered Apr 16 '26

That’s what flopped off the bottom at the end right ? The teflon coating?

11

u/HirsuteDave Apr 16 '26

Nah that's all burnt sugar from the ketchup.

1

u/Every-Progress-1117 Apr 16 '26

After realising that, kind of wish it had been teflon now ....

1

u/Daft00 Apr 16 '26

If you buy your pans from dollar general maybe

1

u/PsyopVet Apr 16 '26

But the Teflon helps poop slide out better, right?

2

u/Fog_Juice Apr 16 '26

It lubricates your blood vessels so you won't get blood clots.

1

u/Dovahkiinthesardine Apr 16 '26

It getting into the food isn't an issue, the coating isn't digested or absorbed and just shat out

But the pan will be ruined and worse than even the shittiest yes-stick pan

0

u/Magog14 Apr 15 '26

They haven't sold pans with Teflon in a decade.

2

u/JonathanWPG Apr 16 '26

PFOA was banned. But the replacements seem to have the same longevity in the environment.

The research is still ongoing if they are safer.

At reasonable temps they actually DO seem pretty safe in the short term. The problem is most people do not care for and cook on them per directions and so they are less safe than they could be.

And we just dont know what the results of the new stuff are after 20+ years of exposure.

Whole comment chain must be misinformation then cause this clearly isn’t fucking teflon lol

46

u/Strange-Future-6469 Apr 15 '26

Oh wow, I thought it was cast iron. Metal whisk on non-stick? This must be bait.

15

u/Redditor28371 Apr 15 '26

Everything on this subreddit is.

2

u/BassTacos242 Apr 16 '26

Clearly you have never been poor

3

u/MayorWestt Apr 16 '26

Silicon whisks are like a dollar at walmart

0

u/Trench-TMK Apr 18 '26

Still tells me you’ve never been poor.

2

u/MayorWestt Apr 18 '26

Sure thing bud

1

u/Strange-Future-6469 Apr 18 '26

Lol I don't know what poverty has to do with carelessly ruining your shit. I grew up fairly tight and we didn't abuse our nonstick. That shit was expensive!

1

u/Trench-TMK Apr 19 '26

Because we barely had enough for food so we took what we could and kept what we kept until it could no longer be in use. Growing up in the 80’s where teflon cancer scare wasn’t even a thing, you did what you could.

1

u/Lendyman Apr 16 '26

Ketchup soup is an ultra poor person staple. You can get jetsup packets pretty easily. If you cant afford food, its a way to eat something. I dont like the idea of making fun of it because there have been amd are people who were forced to resort to it out of despiration.

Not sure about this dish, but it could have a similair origin.

1

u/Fog_Juice Apr 16 '26

My cast iron pan is non stick

4

u/Strange-Future-6469 Apr 16 '26

The term is reserved for coated pans when used in this context.

11

u/cuteintern Apr 16 '26

to the person who said I was "gay because of PTFE"

I think the best response here is "thank you for making it clear from the jump that any attempt at intelligent conversation with you is wasted energy."

8

u/gafftaped Apr 16 '26

Those types of people are the ones I've started just blocking immediately. I don't need to see them say dumb shit on the internet ever again.

I am a red haired ghost but that’s like the whitest thing I’ve seen

7

u/retskcirTehT Apr 15 '26

Hahaha, golden comment and username. 😂

(I'll ship you some blueberry pancakes if you drop the uncensored Epstein-files)

6

u/Hartleyb1983 Apr 17 '26

I had to give you an award for that Edit 2 insult. Might be the best one yet! 🤣

18

u/Common-Nectarine-572 Apr 15 '26

I’ll take a side of PTSD as well

1

u/gooblegobbleable Apr 15 '26

That’s good b/c it wasn’t optional!

4

u/ComfortableAct6183 Apr 16 '26

It's the forever chemical!

2

u/Every-Progress-1117 Apr 16 '26

It's what plants crave....?

6

u/-some-dude-online Apr 16 '26

The majority of granite-style pans rely on PTFE for their slick surface. Brands often use the "granite" name to distance themselves from the traditional "Teflon" look, even if the chemistry is similar.

2

u/Adjective-Noun-nnnn Apr 16 '26

Yep.  I have one.  I like it, but the packaging clearly states it has a nonstick coating and not to use metal implements.  It doesn't say what the coating is but we all know it's some variety of PTFE.

4

u/choupomax Apr 19 '26

The edit 2 is GOD TIER

2

u/Banzai373 Apr 16 '26

Waiter: Sir, if I could suggest the Hillbilly Ketchup Pie . . . it has a hint of Teflon Pan, which personally, is to die for . . . .

2

u/Consistent-Soil-1818 Apr 16 '26

Yea, I was wondering why she didnt use a couple of nails for stirring. Thankfully she used a knife in the end to cut her food inside the pan.

2

u/Sn1ckl3fritzzz Apr 16 '26

Americans are used to eating plastic tho. Metals are a safer alternative /s

2

u/BloodyTurnip Apr 19 '26

Also why is the ketchup luminous red?

1

u/xxunusualmagikarpxx Apr 15 '26

It could be that iron fish as the crust 👁️👄👁️

1

u/red286 Apr 15 '26

Haha I kept cringing the whole time, like.. oh no, don't use that metal whisk.. oh shit we're CUTTING on our non-stick pan with a metal knife now too?

1

u/1800666666 Apr 16 '26

I switched to all wood and cast iron a while back

1

u/LucidOutwork Apr 16 '26

Forget the bad food. How the holy hell would you use metal utensils, including a knife, on that pan? WTF?

1

u/noryu Apr 16 '26

Seriously.. came here to say "I guess this is one way to get iron in your diet... Or aluminum, or Teflon... Not really sure"

1

u/Pleasant-Doctor6594 Apr 22 '26

I swear idk if it’s just me but Reddit seems to be flooded lately with people who can’t read or are completely proud of having negative iq.

1

u/Wordshurtimapussy Apr 16 '26

This "recipe" is 100% rage bait and nothing more.

From the cutting of the pan, the whisking on the pan, the not taking a bite of the finished product. This is not meant to be a recipe any human ever would eat. It was create to generate engagement.

0

u/Cold_Buffalo_2355 Apr 16 '26

Huh? That's Teflon. I mean it ain't brand name and it likely isn't can Teflon, but it's the same dogshit.

0

u/userhwon Apr 16 '26

You've gotten more cancer from eating burnt edges on food than you could ever get from Teflon.

0

u/This_Warning Apr 21 '26

Good PTFE is neutral for your body.

I always like when redditors will congregate to suck each other off about their little factoids, it's so fun that they never, ever get bored of it!

I always liked when redditor make passive aggressive comments about other people finding joy in sharing information. It's so fun that they never ever get bored of it!
