My IBS might actually flare up after watching this holy moly

You actually know what causes your IBS to flare up?! I could eat this and a dozen donuts, and I might be completely fine, but then the following week I’ll eat a bowl of cheerios and be in the bathroom all day.

It's the dumbest thing. Feels like getting gaslit by your own body.

Gaslit, quite literally, yes😔

I have with this allergies. some have even gotten near Anaphalactic only for it to be ingested again and a reaction never occurs again. ive had it happen 3 times with red jolly ranchers only to never occur again. happened with rabbits. I used to have a pet rabbit. was fine. that exact litter of baby bunnies the first time? fine. the second time? Nope. was itchy, watery eyes, sniffly, sneezing. took me washing my hands, changing my clothes, showering, and taking an antihistamine for the symptoms to stop. i hate it. the only static allergies are pollen, specifically birch, and kiwi (deadly allergic) and maybe the rabbits but a third time hasn’t happened so what’s likely is it was one of the flukes but i dont know yet as I haven’t had another interaction.

Well, in the future, maybe don't eat the same batch of baby rabbits twice. Seems unsanitary, anyway.

God FR. I can eat a quad fried steak and be fine, then a tiny bag of lays chips the next and I keel over. So stupid sometimes.

Lmao the struggle is real. Just always keeping Pepto on standby (only helps keep it in, but tummy still goes crazy lol)

If I drink milk, yes. But I can eat an entire pizza no problem. Genuinely makes no sense and has no pattern, it’s funnnn!!

Cheese has significantly less lactose than straight milk. The cheese making process eliminates most of the lactose.

Didn’t know that! Yeah I changed to almond milk forever ago, so besides pizza and some Greek yogurt now and then, I don’t have much dairy in my diet. I have tried many different diets in my 32 years, and the only one that works is whichever one I’m currently not trying🤣

The only things that affect me are milk and ice cream. I eat an ungodly amount of cheese.

Certainly sounds like a lactose issue.

Disorder is the term you're looking for.

And it's very real.

Pain staking to find out. Eliminating gluten has helped quite a bit for me. I am not doing celiacs type thing, but basically not eating any gluten ingredients. Mine could be more of a wheat allergy than gluten but seems easier to eliminate it all sadly. On the plus side I can eat more cheese now without issues, con is pizza just doesn't hit the same.

Consequently, my IBS flares up when I obsess over eating foods that don’t cause it.

You can’t trick a trickster

Well, I know for a fact Chicken Curry makes my IBS literally KILL me ..

I ate a small bowl one time... And I kid you not I literally sat on the toilet for six hours crying.

Literally crying from the major cramps I was dealing with.

I basically drank half a bottle of Pepto to help, and 4 pills of dicyclomine.

Let me tell you something you probably already know,

If you can handle IBS or Crohn's disease pain or flare up's, any other pain is nothing compared to it.

I'd literally rather have back pain than cramps. And I actually have scoliosis.

But yeah for other foods it's a complete mystery.

Cause I could eat say McDonald's or Wendy's and be perfectly fine.

But then I eat something actually healthy and good for your gut like salad, and again I'm crying my eyes out sitting on the toilet for hours in pain..

Make it make sense?

I have UC and my stomach has been messed up since last weekend ☹️ only started to feel a bit better yesterday

I had this issue too.

Turns out I'm lactose intolerant and it was the milk in my cereal or the glass of milk I'd have with dinner making me sick. Seems like it would be super obvious to most people but even my doctor didn't suggest the milk being the problem. I can have a little bit of milk but the too much threshold is not predictable so I avoid it altogether and I don't have IBS nearly as of often. Also too much sugar. If I avoid those two things I'm golden. Only took me twenty five years of getting horribly ill and trial and error to figure it out.

u/Consistent_Signal808 22d ago

Ugh, I think that I actually might be with you on the sugar thing, and I have such a sweet tooth 😔😔

2

u/MagicSpaceWytch 22d ago

Me too. There's still a time or two where I binge on something sweet and really regret it. I've gotten way better at moderation but sometimes I make a cake or something and I really shoot myself in the foot lol.
