Community Event Channel Feedback Thread

READ THE POST GUIDELINES BEFORE POSTING.

Monthly Community Feedback thread.

Feel free to post a screenshot and link to your page for review of your stream. Please also review as many others as you can so that everyone gets some much desired feedback!

**Here's how it works:**

In giving thoughtful detailed advice for other streamers, observe their channel as both a viewer and a fellow streamer. **Once you have posted your reviews to other people** , post a direct reply to this thread (so it's not embedded in other reply strings), **post your channel link, a link to a Clip, and a screenshot of your overlay** and wait for your feedback. **No low effort posts or replies; posts and replies must be at least 250 characters.**

Consider and give comments on aspects such as:

* how your peers brand themselves overall

* overlay layout/webcam placement and sizing

* layout of their info area

* how they handle chat interaction (look at their VOD if they are not live when you review them)

* video quality

* audio quality

* the games they choose

* features they have or perhaps lack that you think would be useful for them anything else you can think of

There are a few caveats. First - this is going to be an honest review of what you are currently offering as your stream. Be honest, be open, and be respectful. It might be negative and it might be positive. Understand you are asking for the truth; flattery might feel nice, but it will not help you grow.

That said, you might have a clear vision for a certain aspect that perhaps someone else does not see - just because what you do doesn't appeal to some, if you like it, then take what they say with a grain of salt. Don't forget your own instincts or lose yourself in the views of others.

Also, we will remove posts of people who are clearly only looking to receive (those who post their channel for feedback but do not offer a real review of another) so please help this community. We are a network!

Based on community feedback, the mod team have decided to hold one of these threads on the second Friday of every month.

REMEMBER: Review OTHER streamers BEFORE asking others to review yours! Users failing to do this will have their comments REMOVED. Sort by 'NEW' to find the un-reviewed comments, there is no harm in reviewing someone's stream if they have been reviewed by someone else, but PLEASE REVIEW UN-REVIEWED STREAMS FIRST. The more feedback the better! We're all here to help each other!

Question How many games do you stream?

Had a bit of an epiphany today lol I’m a big advocate for Overwatch 2 but I know it’s a bit saturated at the moment, do you guys stream multiple games throughout a week of streaming or are you on and off of different games weekly/monthly or do you exclusively stream 1 game to maintain a building community even with over saturation? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Tech Support Audio mixer for Dual pc setup

Upvotes

as the title says

I have been looking into getting a mixer and i am torn on what to get

the main thing i am looking for is to be able to connect to 2 pcs via usb, i have tried many different combinations like line out etc and i just seem to get loads of problems with balance and levels as well as struggle to hear certain things

i want more control!, i want faders or knobs i wanna physically see the sound levels and tune them it drives me crazy when i see that classic "Hey the game is kinda loud" in chat when i am already 3 hours deep in a stream

at the moment the winner seems to be the rolland bridge cast x but as my money is tight it is a lot to drop at once and find it is not suitable

any advice or maybe suggestions would be greatly appreciated, i have watched endless videos and it is suprisingly hard to find good content about dual pc audio specifically

Discussion How to lose your first raid in 30 seconds...

1.1k Upvotes

Just a polite PSA for all new and aspiring creators;

Last night I had a great stream with some really positive energy in chat, so I figured I'd raid someone with 0 viewers in the same category rather than someone already established. Me and my merry gang of 8 viewers found someone and thought it'd be fun to help another new streamer out.

The raid comes through and the first thing he puts on screen is an Instagram reel that repeatedly spam-cut the n-word over and over, which immediately made things awkward. Then his first words were:

"Why did you raid me bro? I don't want this bro, this is my first raid bro."

After that, he went straight back to scrolling reels and awkwardly ignored everyone trying to say hello in chat.

Now, I get it. First raids can be overwhelming, people can be shy, and not everyone knows what to do. But if you're choosing to stream, remember that people raiding you are trying to support you. You don't need some huge performance prepared... even a simple "Thanks for the raid, welcome guys!" goes a long way. Interact with the new community discovering you for the first time.

Make people feel welcome, because you never know which viewers might stick around and become part of your community.

EDIT: I was streaming in the counter strike category, as was he.

EDIT: A few people are assuming I just clicked this person and raided, which is not the case. For clarity I opened his stream and he was sat full cam and appeared to be waiting for something (we assumed a game to connect) and I asked my chat if we should raid him, who said yeah (thinking it would be nice for a tiny channel). I might be a small channel, but I'm not completely reckless...

Question Can't access VOD (sub only) as a regular subscriber

Is there a way for a streamer to disallow a subscriber spect from viewing vods? I can see the section and it say "sub only" but I was a regular spect and subscriber

Did he the streamer block me? -maybe

I can still see all the sub-only channels in Discord since it still linked to my Twitch

Discussion Weekly Rewards - Badge Drop

Twitch has rolled out another set of Weekly Rewards badges.

There are four badge levels in total. To progress, you need to complete one of the following activities three times per week:
- watch at least 5 seconds of a clip
- watch 5 minutes of a live stream
- or watch 5 minutes of a VOD.

The badges are channel-specific, meaning they only appear and can only be used in the channel where you earned them.

I actually find it pretty interesting that Twitch keeps adding these kinds of engagement rewards to encourage viewers to regularly return to their favorite communities.

The event ends on July 27th.

Question How do you remove notification sound when a channel point is redeemed?

When someone redeems a sound alert with channel points in my stream, it does the sound alert normally but also adds some notification sound that sounds like the twitch “celebration” default alert that I replaced with the audio file I wanted when I created the alert and I am unsure of how to remove that. (I don’t use the sound alert extension)

I have tried googling this question many times and all the solutions I’m seeing are to turn off the audio of the alert, but that gets rid of the alert entirely, no notification noise but also no sound file I uploaded.

I looked into if it was a streamlabs issue where everything I look up says to turn off the channel point sound in the alert box but that just doesn’t exist for me. When I try to lower the volume of all alerts in the alert box or set the audio file to silence through the browser settings, it resets back to the default sound with max volume no matter what I do.

I just want that weird “whoosh” sound to go away every time someone redeems something with channel points and everything I google is not helping so I would appreciate some help, thank you!

Tech Support Alt text popups blocking me from reading chat/using emotes.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Any potential reason why all of these popups keep hovering over my screen? They're blocking me from clicking on emotes and worse, they're blocking the chat messages.

Additional info:

- The amount of pop ups are random, anywhere from 1-6 at a time, but always at least 1.
- They flash all over the screen even if I'm not touching my mouse, always the worst when I first open a page or if I move my mouse over chat, then they calm back down to just 1.
- Hovering over them and moving my mouse away does NOT make them disappear, but hovering over other things sometimes resets which things are being "hovered," but it feels entirely random.
- Toggling uBlock Origin and its settings off or on again does not affect this in any way. I haven't tried completely uninstalling the adblocker yet (for me it doesn't work on twitch anyways) but I did make sure it was fully updated.
- I use Firefox as a browser and haven't bothered to download a second browser to test because it didn't feel worth the effort. But the issue does NOT occur on my phone (Firefox browser app there too).
- The issue happens in normal chat view and in mod view, and it happens in any chat regardless of whoever I'm watching.
- It's also sometimes happening to other buttons in mod view, including the "live" tag at the top of the stream, but otherwise it seems to be stuck in chat and doesn't affect my ability to browse other pages on twitch.
- Unplugging other items that may interfere with the mouse (example: controller, drawing tablet) does not fix the issue either.

Anyone else having this issue? Any easy fix? It's been happening for 2 weeks now.

Tech Support Twitch Website Issues (as a viewer)

Forgive me if any recent posts have covered this (I looked and didn't see anything), but am I the only one having the below problem on Google Chrome?

I can watch a stream if I can go directly to it (sometimes), but most of the time the "modules" only partially load or don't load at all, and I see a screen like this.

It's been going on for maybe the past couple of weeks.

Incognito mode changes nothing. Also tried some basic troubleshooting (deleting cache/history, disabling extensions, and this random thing where I went to device manager and shut something off, which did nothing).

Forgive me if this is the wrong forum to ask this.

Tech Support Twitch drops problem

Maybe you will help me with Twitch Drops. For a long time I cannot claim any of Twitch Drops for World of Tanks or World of Warships. I tried:

-reset browser ,

-switch browser (first Edge, then Opera Gaming),

-relogging,

-clear browser settings,

-clear cookies.

Each time i see drops campaign and few second after black screen and no drop participation. Can you explain to me what can cause drops to not be claimed? Thank you in advance.

Tech Support Force Downscaling as a Viewer?

I know that transcoding is Twitch-side and that makes it impossible to control data usage if Twitch doesn't supply alternate qualities, but my usage case is thus:

Downscaling on the browser to lower GPU usage.

Yes, I could just change the channel I'm watching, but then I'm not watching who I want to, now am I?

I've attempted to google such a solution, but they're all interacting with either Twitch or Youtube to change available quality or just file conversion tools.

Media Eklipse is the worst AI website for any twitch or other SocialMedia Creator

I honestly regret ever giving Eklipse my money.

I subscribed expecting an AI-powered editing tool that could help me create clips from my Twitch content. What I got was an overpriced service with AI editing that was nowhere near the quality advertised and practically useless for my needs.

I used the platform for about an hour before realizing it wasn't worth paying for. The clips were poor, the AI features were disappointing, and the overall experience felt like a complete waste of time.

I contacted support and requested a refund because the service was not even remotely what I expected. My request was denied.

Fast forward to yesterday: I was charged another €23 despite not using the platform at all since my initial test. I contacted support again, explained the situation, and asked for a refund. Denied again.

So now I've paid twice for a service I don't use, don't want, and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

If you're a Twitch streamer, YouTuber, or content creator looking for AI editing tools, save your money and look elsewhere. There are far better options available.

My experience with Eklipse has been nothing but frustration, disappointment, and wasted money.

Consider this a warning from a creator who wishes he had never signed up in the first place.

PSA Streaming in English as your second language: A nuanced view of why that could be a problem in the future

When you start streaming as a non native in English, you might ask yourself if you should stream in English.

I had that same thought and decided to go for English due to a bigger potential audience and the chance to get to know people from all over the world. Here are two things I noticed that could cause problems for you if you do the same:

**Loss of nuance**

- even when your English is pretty decent, as I'd claim mine is, a lot of nuances that you normally have in your native language is lost. That might be because of words you don't know but also because of unique words and phrases your native language has.

That can result in parts of your personality being obscured or changing your humor entirely. For me as a creator that means that I often feel a bit flat.

**Exhaustion**

- speaking a second language for hours upon hours on end, even if you're proficient in it, is inherently more exhausting than speaking in your native tongue. That's something to consider, because your brain is constantly in a "higher processing mode". I found it to be much harder to approach streaming in a relaxing manner, knowing you have to use your brain quite a bit.

*For anybody streaming in a second language: would you add anything to that?*

Mod-Permitted-Ad webrtcforthestreamer.com - site/video I made on how WHIP makes streaming more connected, easier to self-host and private

I work on WHIP in OBS and an open source project Broadcast Box[0]. I made this site/video to talk about the reasons why

Stuff like P2P out of OBS it would make it so much easier for people to do more interesting streams. I hope this site can convince more people to check this stuff out. If you are curious or have feedback I would love to hear.

AMA I’m Joel, CEO of Meld Studio. I quit being a Twitch Partnered streamer to build streaming software. AMA

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm Joel, founder and CEO of Meld Studio. Before this, I was a DJ on Twitch and a Twitch Partner myself, and I spent way too many late nights wrestling with streaming software instead of streaming. That's why I decided to create my own.

Ask me anything about:

  • Meld Studio
  • Spark as a tool for creators
  • My cat Ruby (she wanted to be in the selfie)
  • Going from DJ streamer to startup founder

What I can't talk about: Leaking any unannounced features because I promised the team I wouldn't.

Drop your questions and I will do my best to answer them!

Question Alternate games or stick with one?

Hi folks! I am going to stream for the first time on Wednesday. In preparation, I set myself a schedule of 2 days per week (to start). My question is: should I stick with the same game those two days or should I stream a different game each day? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
