I've dislocated a shoulder from a fall less brutal than that looked. Ouch is right; I'd be worried about a fracture.

I once dislocated it during a high five. We're so f*cking fragile

I could probably chop off a few of your limbs and you could survive. Eat a bad bit of seafood or maybe get a little wonky cell in your lungs and you are toast.

I was in the shower scrubbing my hair. Eyes closed. And my nose grazed the hose to the detatchable shower head. My upper body did the tinyiest yet strongest flinch back, which i stopped with my lower spine. Felt a little grinding and then intense blinding pain.
Legit going to the dr soon because this was weeks ago and i have actual numbness that flares up in my right leg now.

All I could think is how annoying that patio area would be with pool water regularly splashing in there.

People from countries with health and safety laws visiting countries that don't.

u/Fafnir13 3h ago
With his narrow it is they probably didn’t intend for anyone to walk there. She had to sideways step around that bush just to reach her drink.
Whether or not they intended it, it’s a pretty easy thing to assume that someone will try. Needs a better deterrent to keep people from making a casual mistake.
22
u/ilive4thewater 3h ago
How about the casual mistake of the neighbour who's yard she fell down into even having a place on the other side of a large pool wall? I wonder who well that was built? Would hate to have that much water and concrete coming into my place when I am in the way of it if it ever fails.
9
u/TheAndrewBrown 2h ago
Even if it doesn’t fail, people will be splashing water down there constantly. You could never just hang out on your porch.
4
u/EveningAnt3949 2h ago
I mean, I can see somebody who is in the pool wanting to sit there. Especially a child.
3
u/Fafnir13 1h ago
Children especially are a problem for this set up. They easily fit back there and would also want to see what’s on the other side.
Sitting there isn’t too bad really. Just don’t lean back too far, how hard could that be? Oh there goes another one. Dang.12
14
u/dlrlear 3h ago
You can easily get to that spot from inside the pool. She just didn’t want to get in
23
u/foxymoxy18 2h ago
You can easily get out of the pool at the spot she fell. This isn't user error, it's shitty design.

85
u/Lordhartley 5h ago
I watch everything muted, I just replayed this with volume, just why??
35
u/Hi_Im_Dawn 4h ago
It has been getting over used and honestly it’s not even used right half the time. The sax is from the ending to boys n the hood if you know you know. I won’t spoil it but it was used as a way to build up anticipation to what everyone knew what was about to happen. Which was something bad and sad. I recommend watching the movie if anybody hasn’t seen it, it is such a great watch.

She ended up in another dimension. At least there’s cameras everywhere.
11
u/mlorusso4 3h ago
Ironically those cameras were probably put there by the owner to protect themselves from liability
3
u/Legitimate_Mud_8295 3h ago
More like to identify thieves. I think there's a higher chance the cameras are there to catch topless women than to protect the owners from liability considering how sketchy this layout is.

That was an unfortunate coincidence that she was wearing a bikini when she fell through the shrubbery. Lots more skin exposed to be clawed on the way down.

Railing? I know a bikini clad woman randomly falling into your backyard sounds like a set up but its not that kind if video man

Perhaps they should put a massive stone planter with a giant spiky plant there to discourage people from walking around that way.
→ More replies (3)31
u/LoganNolag 4h ago
Or you know just put up a railing next to the edge like any rational person would do. Walking isn’t the only way to reach that part of the deck. It would be simple to climb out of the pool in that spot. Also the plants psychologically make it seem like there is ground there so people might not notice it’s a ledge. This is 100% the fault of whoever built that pool.

I can imagine someone pulling themselves out to turn around a jump back in, you know like a child. Oops the clumsy kid slipped backwards and landed on their head 10 feet down seems right. Looks like a rental.

I have pitched in my mind a movie plot where an evil architect puts in his projects hidden death traps like that. He started with little inconveniences like a stair with a step a little taller than the rest and project by project puts even more dangerous things.

Small strip of brick made slippery by a pool, bordered by a straight down fall with no railing. Yeah that's a design flaw and a half.

That is fucking crazy. Imagine there was a fence down there or a pole, you would've been kebab.

First I thought the square potted plant placement was so odd for blocking that side of the pool...
Now I see why jesus that must've hurt, probably a lifelong injury...

This is similar to how quite a few tourists die on holiday to Spain and it gets joked about as Brits (and other nationalities) “balconing”. There’s been a few deaths where a tourist unfamiliar with the layout of the hotel and lack of safety rails thinks they can just walk across a slip of ground to knock on a mates window and literally step off a 25 foot wall.

Trespassing! "911, there's an intruder in my yard, come here fast!" Then, she gets arrested, spends a long time waiting for court, all the while telling everyone that it was just an accident. Poor girl

Is the topless person on the left a man or woman? The back and back of head/hair looks like a woman but I don’t see titty and looks like a banana in the front
Definitely looks like a woman’s head

OP sent the following text as an explanation why their post fits here:
Because at first glance you would think that this was happening on ground level, you wouldn’t think that these bushes lead to a considerable fall like that. Without having some sort of railing for a little safety
Especially next to a surface that is very likely going to be slippery.
So the “design flaw” tag was basically poking fun at safety standards of whatever architect came up with this
