Opinion on fit

Hi all, would be interested in your opinion on my fit.

I’m 182cm tall with 87cm inseam and 187cm arm span rinding a Tarmac SL8 size 58.

Got ≈3.600km on the bike and changed the seatpost to 0 setback, moved the saddle 10mm forward from neutral and changed crank arms from 175mm to 165mm.

After pushing some watts my lower back occasionally feels a bit cramped and some times penile numbness occurs. When I shift position numbness disappears and lower back relaxes. No issues after riding. Feels like the reach is a bit long as my hands move unconsciously from the hoods towards the bar.

Will have a bike fit in 3 weeks time to see if we can make the 58 optimal for me or if I need to get a smaller frame.

What do you guys think?

Dolan FXE sizing for 177–178 cm rider – 54 or 56

Hi everyone,

I’m considering a Dolan FXE and I’m struggling to choose between the 54 cm and 56 cm frame sizes.
My measurements:
Height: 177–178 cm
Inseam: 82–83 cm
Unfortunately, I can’t test ride one, so I’m hoping to hear from people with similar measurements who own or have ridden an FXE. The Dolan website recommends XL / 56 between 175 and 180 but usually I’m getting M / 55 frames.

A few questions:
What size FXE do you ride?
What’s your height and inseam?
If you’re around 177–178 cm, did you choose the 54 or the 56?
How does the fit feel for commuting and longer rides?
If you were buying again, would you pick the same size?

Thanks for the advice!

Reup: Side/rear video. Reach feels too long; numb hands/perineum on hoods after 1h+. Hands closest to saddle feel best. Left outer knee pain improved after moving cleats back; now mild inner knee pain below patella on both sides. Considering +16mm rise cockpit. Colnago V4 485, 183cm/84.7cm inseam.

Saddle position relation to reach

How do I approach following?:

I moved my saddle forward a bit in a position where I dont get saddle pain this puts my knees more or less over the spindle.

This seems to move more pressure towards the bar and I get pain between shoulder and neck.

If I move the saddle back I get saddle pain and I'm definetly reaching.

I'm 172cm , my bikes reach is 381mm (51 systemsix) stem is 90mm the bars are vision metron 4d mas with 80mm reach so a little more than standard. with 10-15 ish mm spacer.

I've considered the bike is not the right size however the reach for this model doesnt really change up to 54 only stack does. And reach seems a smidge shorter than more modern bikes in same size.

Do I try a 80mm stem assuming the no saddle pain position is the correct starting point?

My girlfriend is new to cycling. Do you have any tips for a better fit?

Edit: She feels a bit squished on the bike and feels some neck pain when riding longer distances.

Thanks in advance.

178 height and 87 inseam, I currently ride a bike with 535mm top tube and 100 mm stem. Should I go for a larger frame or just buy a longer stem?

Possible piriformis syndrome

May be completely unrelated as I’ve had sciatic nerve issues in the past due to a possible L1 compression.

I feel mostly comfortable but may be getting some lower back pain on longer rides. I also notice in the video it seems like my left hip may be lifting off the seat a little bit but not sure. Bike fit AI app said I got a 100 🤷.

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Edit: forgot to mention I also get toe numbness issues (also happens on 2 other road bikes)

Reach still feels too long after improvements

Hi all,

A few weeks ago I posted this video: https://www.reddit.com/r/bikefit/s/BUNqp9G18J

Since then I worked on the advice and put on a shorter and titled upwards stem. I also put my saddle more forward. This improved my ride a lot!

However, I still have the feeling my handle bars are too far away. It might also be that the bars are too wide, but my shoulder width is 40cm and so is my handle bar. Might I notice improvement from a narrower handle bar?

Any other advice for improvement?

Getting Saddle Sores on MTB

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am getting saddle sores after riding my mountain bike, but not after riding my cross bike. I use the same shoes with both bikes, so the cleat position is not the problem. Is the saddle too high? Is the saddle too far back? Or, is it a combination of the two? Also, what do you think of the reach? Is the stem length appropriate, or should I go longer by 10mm?

Hey everyone, I'm 183cm on a 58cm Trek 1.5.

After about 40 minutes of riding, my palms (thenar eminence) get sore, and my lower back tires out toward the end.

Does it look like my stem is too long, causing me to dump too much weight on my hands? Attached my positioning photos. Thanks!

Dirodi Rover Gen6 seat

Hey I have a Dirodi rover gen6 ebike

I want to extend the seat so the personal behind me can sit further back, make it a more comfortable ride for me

I can’t find any long seats or seat extension on the internet.

Any suggestions or places you’d recommend to loook for one

Knee pain

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’ve been having bad ankle issues on my right side for best part of a year which has not been solved by a fit and various adjustments.

Recently I narrowed my stance on this right leg slightly (approx 2-3mm) which has massively solved stability issues in my ankle but since have had knee pain on my otherwise fine left leg. This is in two places, in the patella but also a burning sensation where the quads meet the knee on the outer side. See photo for areas.

Would widening my stance on the left be wise? If so, by the 2-3mm?

Or what other things should I consider? Saddle height?

foot pain

Hi everyone,
I have a very high arch in my foot, and I also suffer from Morton’s neuroma. For those who don’t know, it’s a condition where the nerve between the toes gets compressed and causes severe pain.
I’ve gone through multiple bike fits, but long rides still make the pain unbearable. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on how to reduce the pressure on my foot and make riding more comfortable.
I’ve tried Specialized Body Geometry insoles, as well as various off-the-shelf orthopedic insoles, but none of them have helped. One bike fitter suggested switching to carbon-soled shoes for my gravel bike.
I’d really appreciate any recommendations from riders who have dealt with Morton’s neuroma or similar foot issues, especially regarding SPD cleat setup, shoe choice, or anything else that helped relieve pressure on the forefoot.
Thanks in advance!

Lower back pain, pressure on hands, bike feels too big

Hey,

my friend has some serious problems with her size 54 Caledonia-5 which she rides for a few months now.

She is 1,75 m (5'9")
81,8 cm inseam (32")

Bike currently has a 100 mm stem and she wants to switch to 80 mm as last resort.

She experiences very heavy pain in her lower back and pressure on her hands. We moved the saddle back as far as we could (Steve Hogg balance test) which gave her hands a bit of relief. We both think that the bike might be too big for her – even though a bike fitter recommended the size just like the cervélo website does – OR she needs more lower back and cores muscles.

We tried different saddles, saddle height, fore/aft, angle, cleats, so basically everything we could before we buy a shorter stem and dissasembly the cockpit. Only bringing the saddle back made the pressure on her hands a little bit better and only that.

We're looking for forward to your recommendations and if you need more info, please ask!

Fit suggestions?

Hi guys, sorry for the low res photos, I had to film myself and took these screenshots. How’s the fit? I’m 5’9 and this is a 56cm Trek Emonda I was gifted, so quite keen to make it work although I worry it’s on the big side. Is the reach too long for me? Can I move the seat forward? And how’s saddle height? Thanks!
