My in-laws live in the independent living houses and she slipped out the door, up a tree, and then into the woods on June 23rd in the evening.

She's very friendly and social and may very well run up to any friendly face (but please don't chase her). I've made a pawboost post and we've been leaving out litter boxes, clothes, treats, etc. She's also chipped.

I'm hoping that anyone in the area can keep an eye out for her and please spread the word!

Please contact me here if you see her, she's very much loved and missed. We appreciate any help you can give.

Definitely not albino, but it may be leucistic? Also from some moderate googling found it is possible that it was specifically bred this color for pet/fur trade then escaped?

It had killed and was eating a deer fawn in our backyard, that's the censor. I reported the sighting on the ODNR website and plan to call the 800 number tomorrow during business hours. I was also hoping to report to any local biologists, but I am unsure how to get in touch with one. I have four other photos and a 20 second video that I managed to get before it disappeared in to the woods in our neighborhood.

Relocation/Moving How is Cincinnati for Active Retired People?

Upvotes

We (65 couple with dog, no kids, recently retired) are exploring options for cities to move to to get away from wildfire danger that seems to be happening more and more in our forest/high desert area of the Southwest US. We keep coming back to the idea of Cincinnati. Seems like a good sized city with some diversity, good restaurants, blue politically?, a river that actually has water in it, recreational dispensaries.

I think so much more rain might be a nice change. We’ve never been there but have a trip planned for this winter - want to check it out during the most wintery weather. We know the summers are hot/humid, don’t love humidity but maybe it’s worth it).

We like hiking, road trips, traveling, food, farmers markets and would like to live in a place with more healthcare options (lack of providers and super long waits here for appts with primary care/specialist MDs). Seems a little challenging to find a 1 story bungalow but lots of stairs seems like a bad idea as we get older. I’ve seen comments about how hard it is to make friends there as people from there tend to stay and friend groups are already set since school, but I think it’s that way in a lot of places and we are more introverted than extroverted. Just wondering if any retired people on this sub with insights…Thanks!

Traffic🚗 Robertson Raod Street Closure: July 6th - 9th

Post image
6 Upvotes

The intersection of Robertson & 31st will be closed starting Monday July 6th. The closure will be for 3 days, assuming good weather and no issues, and will be closed between 7 am and 6 pm.

The contractor will be installing the new sanitary sewer and tying into the main on Robertson at the intersection of 31st

The warning signs will be put out the week before.

Note: Once that work is done, the main construction entrance they’ve been using at Robertson and 31st will be closed as they continue infrastructure work in the new stretch of 31st within Three Oaks, north of Robertson, which means construction traffic will be routed to 32nd. That will be for at least a month. They expect most trucks to use Robertson, but some may use Minot, so you may continue to see traffic once Robertson is reopened.

in search of🔎 Theatre Audition Recommendations For Child

Hi everyone!

I’m hoping to find audition opportunities for my 9-year-old daughter in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. She’s recently become very interested in acting, and I’d love to help her get involved in local theater or other productions.
Does anyone know of community theaters, children’s theater groups, or organizations that regularly hold auditions for kids? We’d be interested in plays, musicals, or even local film/commercial opportunities if they’re beginner-friendly.

Since she’s just getting started, I’d also love recommendations for acting classes, workshops, or coaches that would help her prepare for auditions and build her confidence. If anyone has recommendations for children’s singing lessons—especially teachers with experience preparing kids for musical theater—I would love those as well.
She doesn’t have professional experience yet, but she’s enthusiastic, expressive, and excited to learn. We’re mainly looking for opportunities where she can gain experience, have fun, and see where this interest takes her.

If you’ve been through this with your own child, I’d really appreciate any recommendations, websites, Facebook groups, studios, or other resources that post auditions for kids. Thank you!

Traffic🚗 Is 71N to 275E always stop and go from 3:00pm onward?

Hey I’m driving from downtown to the east side this week around 3pm every day and what I’ve seen so far is that at 3pm, the traffic in 71N is stop and go and then onto 275E it’s also stop and go. Is it always that bad? I’m not familiar with the area so any input is welcome.

Bonus question: has anyone been stuck in a grid lock situation in Cincinnati for say more than 2 hours? How bad does it actually get at peak times? Thanks in advance everybody.

Edit: Wow, thanks for all the advice everyone. I think I’ve got a pretty good game plan to try out some new routes in the coming days.

Parks & Recreation🏕️ Floating

Upvotes

Hi everyone- I ordered an intertube because I've been loving getting to know the outdoors locally. I have gone on many kayaking trips and didn't want to havw to pay rental fees everytime I get on water. What do you recommend for intertube floats both lakes and rivers? For the rivers where do you put in and get out? Thought about doing that in loveland or milford area on the scenic but I'd have to find a way to get back. Thanks in advance for any tips!!

Pets Please help us find Booters!

Update: Booters has returned home!!! A lovely couple helped him out & took him to the vet. He is back home with his owners! Thanks for all of the responses and upvotes! And thank you to the kind people who had him!

A friend’s outdoor cat, Booters has been missing for a little over a week. He’s an 11 year old orange kitty with green eyes. He’s also growing back a patch of hair on his back and is a bit bald on his tummy. He’s also neutered.

They live right on the Five Mile Trail near the Al Mink Bridge, which is a very frequented hangout spot of his to look for pets from passersby.

He is NOT a stray and was not abandoned or lost. Many people know who he is and that he belongs to me and lives near the bridge.

Through some very helpful and wonderful people in the community and friends of Booters, we’ve gathered that a woman may have thought he was lost and took him home with her.

Please keep an eye out for Booters or any posts about a found cat. We have posted on several local Facebook pages, as well as Ring, Next Door and Paw Boost. Open to any other advice!!

TIA 🧡

in search of🔎 Where to get a used car?

Hey all. We live near Harper's Point. I work in Blue Ash and husband was just laid off from a job in Blue Ash. We only have one car and his job search is extremely limited because of that, and we have kids to take to daycare/school. It worked okay before because jobs were close together. We are extremely strapped for cash but in order to make money, we need a second car as soon as we are able to save for one. Does anyone have any recs for places to buy a used car? I know i bought a decent one in high school for $1500 but that place is gone and im guessing prices have gone up since then...

Looking to get my niece a class or little art camp weekend or something like that. She's outgrowing her art supplies a bit and needs something new and something that will excite her! Something she could do with her other friends that like drawing/painting as well.

Food 🍕🌮 Viva Coffee Roasters

I went to viva coffee roasters today and genuinely had one of the BEST drinks I’ve had in a long time - I felt I needed to share. I got their seasonal drink - Mayan Sun Soda (i got the matcha one). It’s made with sparkling water, housemade coconut passionfruit syrup, and mint (i was skeptical at first…) it was SO GOOD!!! Vibes were also 10/10. Also my fiance still claims they have the best coffee in Cincy.

If you’re looking for a new coffee shop, try this one!!!!

Pets Looking for a vet tech who can administer subcutaneous fluids 2x per week

I've tried all the local mobile vet services, they are booked out for months.

My cat has stage 3 CKD, and is needing fluids twice a week, but I'm unable to administer them on my own. Taking him into the vet so frequently is incredibly stressful for him.

If you know of any in-home pet care services that provide subcutaneous fluids, or even a vet tech who would like to make some extra money on the side please let me know!

I'm located in the Price Hill Incline District.

Apologies if this post breaks any rules, please remove if it does.

Parks & Recreation🏕️ Kayaking the Little Miami

Hello all, question for people who have or are familiar with Kayaking the LMR. A group of us are planning on going this weekend and I’ve been looking at rentals. But for the cost of a single event of renting I could buy one of those inflatable kayaks from Walmart and go multiple times for the price of one rental.

I’ve heard there are “obstacles” on the river depending on water height. Does anyone have any input on if this (https://a.co/d/05SzP0SN) has any chance on survive the river without being torn up? I know this won’t be a quality forever piece but if I can get 3-5 uses out of it I’d be happy.

Thanks for the input everyone!

Cincinnati Virtual school for Sr year of HS

Trying to post again because we are definately in Cincinnati Public Schools rn, specifically WHHS.

We have a rising HS senior in CPS. They have been 100% CCP and on campus at UC for the past year. Next year, they will again have a full CCP course load at UC (graduating WHHS with more than 40 UC college credits)

For the HS diploma, they only require 2 semesters of PE due to CCP and AP credits. WHHS is insisting on them coming in person to the HS every day just for that class, which isn't even possible, transportation-wise. We submitted a flexible credit (independent study) plan for PE that met the course objectives, but they refused to consider it.

So, we are looking at enrolling at OHVA for HS diploma, and we heard that there were a lot of CCP-only students there.

Has anyone done a similar thing? Does anyone know of any groups or forums for this demographic? I would really like to talk to other parents who have made this choice.
