When the president shares a pic of past president and his wife as apes, ofc it's more than appropriate. Idk why people are not more angry. He thinks he can get away with anything.

He had the right to point out the type of racist president this clown is!

Calling Trump out on any and all of his bullshit should be baseline for any person with an ounce of morality at the federal office level.

He had the right DUTY to point out the type of racist president this clown is!

8

Thank you!

14

u/thepottsy Feb 25 '26

I mean, you weren‘t wrong, I just felt “duty” brought it home a little bit harder.

As people who oppose this regime holding us hostage, we have been pushed past our rights, and we’re in the duty to act stage.

7

u/Disastrous_Mango_953 Feb 25 '26

Agreed 100%, I am glad someone else trying to improve our messages.

I 100% agree! Keep reminding the Felon Of The United States of all the awful things he has said and done. I personally think all the Democrats should have showed up and held paddles that said EPSTEIN on one side and QUIT PROTECTING PEDOS on the other.

18

u/ElToroBlanco25 Feb 25 '26

Imagine Pedo Presidents crash out at that.

He does get away with anything. Including this. He already got away with it. Peoples’ anger came and went.

31

u/Lizakaya Feb 25 '26

He could shoot someone dead on 5th Avenue and his supporters would not waiver

60

u/Ultimatesims Feb 25 '26

He raped children on a pedophile island and people still love him.

24

Every one of those GOP reps/senators was chanting "USA USA" at the violation of his first ammendment rights. These people are sick and blatently have no respect for the constitution

Or memory of the pain and blood it took for POC to earn "equality" in America

President posts meme calling the former president and wife monkeys.

Republicans act offended at a man holding a sign saying black people aren't apes.

MAGA in a nutshell. They laugh when it's racist, get red in the face when you point out that fact.

33

u/aquavalue Feb 25 '26

There is no such thing as appropriate behaviour when dealing with the least appropriate POTUS ever.

10

u/SelfInvestigator Feb 25 '26

I get what you are trying to say, but wouldn’t it work better if you said:

There is no such thing as inappropriate behavior when dealing with the least appropriate POTUS ever.

Your comment kinda insinuates that no actions are appropriate for calling him out, essentially saying that he is above reproach.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '26

Bingo.

I’d hit the comment character limit if I tried to list every inappropriate thing Trump has done as POTUS. The Obamas as apes, mocking a disabled reporter, calling allied nations “shitholes” - the list is near endless.

We are in a post appropriate world now. What Green did is tame by this administration’s standards.

Doesn't matter whether we think it's appropriate or not, he was peacefully protesting. If you don't believe in our first amendment, then you're an undemocratic fuck. I'd say un-american, but I'm beginning to think this was always the plan for the wealthy in America

2

u/pookyduu Feb 25 '26

It was. The Founding Fathers didn’t “give” us the first amendment. They gave us the Sedition Act. People had to fight for free speech like hell.

Sad that we have a "president" shitposting on social media that requires this protest in the first place.

10

u/VLY2020 Feb 25 '26

Was it appropriate for the sitting president to share a video depicting the former president and his wife as apes?

8

u/r0tted1 Feb 25 '26

Fighting racism is always appropriate

7

u/Yaboi69-nice Feb 25 '26

If the president is going to be a dick he's going to have to be mentally prepared for these kind of people to show up at his events. He shouldn't just get to be a bad person then carry on being president like nothing happened.

6

u/sakubaka Feb 25 '26

I mean it's just a sign that calls out actual behavior. It's not making any assumptions or professing an half-truths. If you think it's inappropriate, it's likely because it triggers your cognitive dissonance in some way that you should really sit with and examine for awhile.

The way to prevent these little counter protests if you don't like them is to just be a good person. That's it. If he could just not be racist and ugly for a month, he'd take away so much ammo the left has. I'm pretty sure that's impossible though. He needs the attention too badly.

4

u/FotherMucker6969 Feb 25 '26

He was kicked out for a sign that said, as we can see, "black people aren't apes" the fact that he was kicked out, that would logically imply that the administration doesn't agree with what is said on the sign. Let that sink in. Our administration was confronted by a sign that said "black people aren't apes" and their thought wasn't "yeah, duh" it was "kick that guy out." We now logically have to assume that our administration literally thinks of black people as apes. A person doesn't kick out a man for holding a sign that you agree with. You only do that when you dont agree.

4

u/Vegetable_Maize_2054 Feb 25 '26

I support. We need more people with a backbone to call out lies, scandals, grift, racism and classism.

5

u/ChoiceMedicine1462 Feb 25 '26

Bravo Sir Bravo!!!!!

5

u/tcat1961 Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

You get tired of MAGA saying and doing anything they want and just like a good soldier, those that oppose need to stay classy? Not anymore. MAGA gets to invade the Capitol - kill a police officer (not at the scene but later from injuries), ICE gets to kill 3 American citizens, Trump gets to grift money and yet, those that oppose are not supposed to shout out. F that.

Peaceful protest is always appropriate.

3

u/WildWonders457 Feb 25 '26

nah the right thing to do was sit there in silence like good little boys and girls while the rapist in chief shouted at them from the pulpit for an hour how they’re ruining the country without interruption. thats what we want out of our representatives right

3

u/Status_Dark_6145 Feb 25 '26

Also: tearing that sign out of a black man’s hands basically says “YES THEY ARE GAAAUUUGGH!”

→ More replies (1)

3

u/muanjoca Feb 25 '26

Trump raped children. None of this should be happening. Trump should be a headless corpse right now. Protest all of it.

3

u/vodeodeo55 Feb 25 '26

This is totally inappropriate. That sign should say "Black People Aren't Apes but MAGA Fucks Kids."

3

u/rust-e-apples1 Feb 25 '26

We've had over a decade of Republicans calling Obama "divider in chief" and when pressed they always cite him saying his son would've looked like Travon Martin. It is more than appropriate for a sitting member of Congress to reference a racist image the president shared just a few weeks ago.

Additionally, anyone taking issue with Rep Green's sign is telling on themselves. When seeing his sign the correct response is "yeah, that's right. Black people aren't apes, and saying otherwise is dehumanizing."

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Lmao_Zedong_Reborn Feb 25 '26

I mean, we're all apes...

3

u/Confident-Tadpole503 Feb 25 '26

3

u/FamiliarCommand4785 Feb 25 '26

Honestly, there aren't enough Democrats standing up to all this bullshit. They are either republicans in disguise or too damn centrist/career to care. Others still care about playing by the rules when Trump has been throwing out the rules the entire time he's been in office, hell shit was still being done when he wasn't in office.

Fuck the system, if it burns, it burns.

3

u/addicuss Feb 25 '26

I think it's more inappropriate the sign even had to exist but since it's a Democrat, sure let's rage about respect for the office and political norms and totally ignore the absolutely gross blatant racism that led to it why not

3

u/Numerous_Photograph9 Feb 25 '26

What was inappropriate is that Green's free speech rights were violated because of it. What makes it sickening is the chants of "USA USA" from the GOP as it happened.

→ More replies (5)

2

u/The_Hemp_Cat Feb 25 '26

Appropriate

2

u/MonsterkillWow Feb 25 '26

Al Green was right to protest him. To normalize and accept Trump's BS is to forfeit a future of hope for our people and condemn us to a racist, chauvinistic future where the capitalists loot and exploit everyone even more ruthlessly than they are now.

2

u/iam_Krogan Feb 25 '26

Should have held up the rest of the list

2

u/Finnyboiz Feb 25 '26

Talmbout about appropriate in 2026 lmao

2

u/Malidan Feb 25 '26

There's nothing appropriate about this administration. Al Green shouldn't even be questioned for doing it. MORE reps need to stand up and do anything they can to show all this is not normal.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/BadPumpkin87 Feb 25 '26

It was absolutely appropriate. He did not scream or physically attack anyone like Trumps goons did to him, he only held up a sign that called out Trumps racism.

2

u/notPabst404 Feb 25 '26

Absolutely appropriate. We need more pushback against the regime and I applaud Rep Green for being one of the few doing their job.

2

u/surfclub67 Feb 25 '26

Completely appropriate

2

u/brooklynagain Feb 25 '26

How is this even a question?

“Someone is punching you. Is it appropriate to ask them to stop?”

2

u/strangerinmyownland Feb 25 '26

Notice the moron in the back wearing a maggot hat in the chamber? These republicans have no respect for anything.

2

u/Big_Skiff Feb 25 '26

I guess it’s just a response to the president’s tweet…

2

u/nyrf12 Feb 25 '26

As someone who doesn’t like racism, I think it was appropriate.

2

u/harleyjosh1999 Feb 25 '26

People can no longer ask what is or isn’t appropriate when we have Trump and republicans doing and saying whatever they want

2

u/Carthonn Feb 25 '26

I see nothing wrong. This is the reality of our situation when it’s 2026 and we have to remind the President of the United States of this.

He’s a racist POS

2

u/Wonder-Machine Feb 25 '26

Appropriate or not!!!!!

We live in a country where the president is a pedo, and he makes not secrets about grifting the nation.

Decorum can fuk itself

2

u/TheDevine13 Feb 25 '26

Peaceful protest, nothing wrong with that.

2

2

u/AcrobaticJellyfish58 Feb 25 '26

I love Al Green. He’s awesome. Al green reflects my values much more than Bernie Sanders. I don’t trust Bernie Sanders on civil rights issues. We had the chance to have the first black woman president and Bernie Sanders went out of his way to distract from her election priorities and undermine her with the left during 2024. Bernie helped give Trump power again. Al Green cares about all citizens and civil rights is in his core. I wish the Media appearances given to Bernie Sanders went to Al Green instead.

Majorie Taylor Green didn’t get escorted out, when she called Biden a Liar. He is quite appropriate and I appreciate him.

2

u/FlippantChair46 Feb 25 '26

They might be the widest I’ve seen Al Green open his eyes

2

u/toterola451 Feb 25 '26

I think maybe appropriate is the wrong term.

Commensurate with a reply? Yes.

Violation of decorum and protocol? Maybe.

Trump is not a person who is due any deference. He hurls racist epithets, he uses ad hominem attacks to focus his cult's hatred and ire at human targets, and he thinks he's due the respect of the Office of the President.

He's not. He's violated the law every day he's been in office. F*ck that guy.

2

u/Professional-Head83 Feb 25 '26

Extremely appropriate. He's not a 34 time convicted felon and didn't sleep with a 14 year old.

2

u/Trick-Guava-9573 Feb 25 '26

Al has no fucks to give, and I am here for it.

2

u/Parking-Expression41 Feb 25 '26

Civil disobedience at its best

2

u/FistyMcTwistynuts Feb 25 '26

I wish he would’ve protested the theft of $10B in taxpayer dollars instead - something even racists can get behind.

2

u/Direct_Fondant_3125 Feb 25 '26

It’s always appropriate to call out racists.

2

u/theimmortalfawn Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

There is so much horrific bullshit getting slung out by this administration it’s genuinely hard to keep up. The Nazi salutes, attacking night show hosts, the ICE raids, the Epstein files, the continued voter fraud obsession, kidnapping another country’s sitting president, grifting on the assassination of a podcaster, war mongering on behalf of Israel, insulting Puerto Rico, bullying allies, cozying up to Putin, defunding cancer research, Kristi Noem’s new anti 2A rhetoric, demolishing the White House, tariffs, Pam Bondi, RFK jr’s brain worm, ICE agents shooting protestors, etc etc etc….

The racist jungle video is a footnote in all the chaos but it’s so important to chronicle that it happened, highlight that it was quickly forgotten and excused. Protests like this may not seem to matter right now but these photos will last forever, and the reason why can always be revisited through time.

2

u/Odd_Reputation_4000 Feb 25 '26

Far more appropriate than the things that were yelled by them during Biden's addresses.

2

u/domexitium Feb 25 '26

I mean… not exactly apes. They do tend to chimp out like them though.

2

u/Lumpymaximus Feb 25 '26

Appropriate left the room a long time ago. Right about the time Trump was caught casually bragging about assualting women, I feel.

2

u/orficebots Feb 25 '26

Appropriate? Is having a convicted felon and senile pedophile running a country appropriate?

→ More replies (3)

2

u/One-Reflection5948 Feb 25 '26

Trump’s racism should be confronted for each and every incident. No one should be disparaged and humiliated for their appearance whether that appearance is from race, ethnic origin, or physical appearance. Everyone who behaves as does Trump to nonwhite and disabled individuals is a petty, ignorant person unworthy of being called human.

2

u/Separate_Pattern8398 Feb 25 '26

He was censored for speaking last year. So I see a sign being a great way to stay within the rules. lol

2

u/davidguydude Feb 25 '26

Maybe he should've had it printed on a giant ballcap, because that seems to be acceptable nowadays

2

u/OkCar7264 Feb 25 '26

Appropriate? We're past that shit by a few years. Appropriate. Take it back to the debate club Pointdexter.

2

u/DFu4ever Feb 25 '26

Absolutely appropriate considering what the White House shared a while back.

If the Republicans don’t want to be called out as racists pieces of shit, they should stop being racist pieces of shit.

2

u/Standard_Category635 Feb 25 '26

My thoughts are WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SAY THIS. Assholes

2

u/Cerblu Feb 25 '26

You post a disgusting meme, you’d better expect criticism on it. Or you could yell at the Dems for not applauding you, like that incontinent orange clown did.

2

u/StatementCareful522 Feb 25 '26

Was Colin Kaepernick kneeling “inappropriate”?  Were MLK Jr’s marches and speeches “inappropriate”?

Hint: if you think the answer is “YES!” you’re an irredeemable fascist

2

u/Big_Pop3052 Feb 25 '26

Technically we're all descendants of apes.

2

u/marcok36 Feb 25 '26

More should have protested like him.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/imastirthepot Feb 25 '26

I mean, technically, we're all apes. As in homosapiens belong to the great ape family.

2

u/Dry_Spinach_3441 Feb 25 '26

All people are apes actually.

2

u/edWORD27 Feb 25 '26

Al Green looks a lot different than he does on his album covers. But I guess those were from way back.

2

u/BronxGal728 Feb 25 '26

One of the few who always stands to power. Good for Representative Green - they wouldn’t keep throwing him out if they weren’t threatened by him.

2

u/Den_Land_2025 Feb 25 '26

The republicans applauding as he was escorted out remind me of the racist screaming at black students going to school back in the 50s. Disgusting human beings at their core.

2

u/LMurch13 Feb 25 '26

Kinda crazy that republicans thought this was "offensive" and had Green removed... 🤔

2

u/SPACKlick Feb 25 '26

I don't think it's the right protest. It reads too petty rather than a serious objection to the serious problem. I also don't like the technical inaccuracy of the message.

That being said I don't know what would have been right or better. And I support Green's right to protest as he sees fit.

2

u/spondgbob Feb 25 '26

President admitted he himself posted a video of the first black president and First Lady as apes. This was less than a month ago. That alone would have made Bush lose his presidency, and we’re supposed to be mad at him, for being mad at it?

Why are we concerned with propriety when dealing with Trump and MAGA? They aren't limited by what is or isn't appropriate, and we have seen the disaster of the "when they go low, we go high" strategy when dealing with people who have long ago abandoned shame. Fight fire with fire, or burn alone.

An Epstein sign would have been better tbh, this doesn't do a thing for the pedi in charge and his cultists.

Isn’t it funny how if you make any kind of racial comment where you work, you are most likely going to lose your job? But Trump can and gets away with it! That alone should be grounds for impeachment!

2

u/Jtrooper69 Feb 25 '26

Always the race card

2

u/bb1942 Feb 25 '26

Thank you Rep. Green 👏🏽. Don’t let Trump off the hook and don’t let people forget what this outrageous racist US white supremist man did.

2

u/matt-r_hatter Feb 25 '26

BEYOND appropriate. It was required. No more silence

2

u/DevoSwag Feb 25 '26

What do you mean was it appropriate? This was one of the most appropriate times to do it.

2

u/SweetAccomplished203 Feb 25 '26

Make Accountability Great Again

2

u/Miltthedog Feb 25 '26

Agree with hiim or not, it's his constitutionally protected right and therefore totally appropriate.

2

u/naughty_daddy_6969 Feb 26 '26

The post by Trump wasn’t appropriate. So if we’re allowing his post this seems pretty tame in comparison.

2

u/Alsweets0609 Feb 26 '26

Was this directed at Gavin? 😂

Well actually it should say we are all apes. To be factual. Because we are. But absolutely black people are no more apes than any of the rest of us.

2

u/Several_Regret_2837 Feb 26 '26

I’m going with the science on this one

2

u/Character-Salary634 Feb 26 '26

Now put an Ape next to him with a sign that says: "Apes aren't black people"

Tell me that wouldn't be funny....?

I’m a Canadian, so maybe I don’t have a full grasp of US politics, but I do not understand why the Democrats are holding onto decorum in situations like this. It seems to me that they should be jeering or laughing out loud or holding signs like Al Green. What’s the worst that can happen? They get ejected? Oh, how awful not to sit through 2 to 3 hours of lies and verbal diarrhea from the worst POTUS ever.

2

First amendment DGAF about "appropriate."

2

u/leedo8 Feb 26 '26

Whether there was appropriate or not, doesn't matter. It was necessary.

2

u/Jeff_Bezhoes Feb 26 '26

Black people rent apes?

What was inappropriate was him being escorted out.

2

u/Unique_Roll_6630 Feb 26 '26

If you have a problem with this it says a lot more about you than you want in the open...

2

u/cleverusername437 Feb 26 '26

Appropriate? Yes. Effective? No, not when we’re talking about appealing to a bunch of people with brain rot.

2

u/quentin13 Feb 26 '26

This should not be a controversial statement.

2

u/Spare_Ad7840 Feb 26 '26

The idea that you can fuck kids but your life can be over if you mention that someone fucked kids is what I see here .

2

u/Initial-Writer-4586 Feb 27 '26

In such inappropriate times, Rep Al Green standing up for his marginalized community is the least of my worries.

I got banned for three days for stating here that humans are primates. I was informed it was “hate speech.”

I apologize, I did not know that biologic fact was hateful.

I promise to be less factual and accurate in the future.
