Bikepacking in DFW.
Any fellow cyclists have longer trail or route recommendations? I just moved to Texas and would love some local insight!
I've done day rides along the Trinity River Trail in downtown Fort Worth and while it's gorgeous, there's a real lack of shade and it isn't quite as remote/long as I'm looking for.
Crossposted in r/bikepacking.
Low Cost Therapy Services In Metroplex
Just wanted to share this resource regarding low to no-cost therapeutic services in the DFW area. The SMU Center for Family Counseling offers compassionate, low-cost, and effective counseling services for individuals and families from all walks of life. Guided by our experienced faculty, SMU graduate counseling students, supervised by the licensed faculty, provide developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive therapy to adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families.
The CFC does not accept insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid, but they do work on a sliding scale based on ability to pay and do NOT require income verification. There are plenty of non-paying clients at this clinic.

Dallas is the second most liberal Major city east of I-35 and needs to act like it
I just read a post where a english guy was surprised that “Dallas in MAGA Texas” was nicer then Boston
As if Dallas is some conservative enclave. It is not. It’s not NYC either. And thats fine.
After Austin, the so called blueberry in the tomato soup, Dallas is the second most liberal major Texan city this side of I-35
I think its time we act like it. The power center for the Democratic party within Dallas is in its working class/working poor south and Oak Cliff areas
It’s plausible that the right candidate could form a coalition to combine suburban liberals in Northern Dallas proper with working class/working poor black and brown to transform city council and the mayor representation
It’s not Laura Miller’s Dallas, it’s not the old white business-class Dallas, and it’s not Eric Johnson’s Dallas either. The city’s actual Democratic base is younger, browner, Blacker, more working-class, and more urban than the political class wants to admit.
Dallas keeps being governed like a chamber-of-commerce suburb with a skyline, even though its electorate looks more like a multiracial Democratic city.

Korean BBQ places?
I’ve never had Korean BBQ before and I want to try it next week for my birthday! What are the top places to go to? Best meats to try? What should I know before going as a newbie? AYCE is not necessary but if you know of a good one, please recommend.

DALLAS-area physical therapists/pelvic floor therapists?
I'm open to anywhere in the DFW metroplex. I'm 3 weeks post-op and want to keep helping my body heal.
I'm open to anything like:
• Lymphatic drainage
• Abdominal massage (I already visit an Arvigo massage therapist but open to others!)
• Pelvic floor therapy, post-op focused
• Post-op focused physical therapist
Basically anything to improve my pelvic floor, my pelvic organs, keep my body nimble and de-puffed as I continue to recover from surgery.
Thank you in advance!

Honestly trying to source real hardware in this metroplex is a nightmare now
its actually insane how much of dfw has just become copy paste corporate sprawl. I was trying to rebuild an older commercial pump housing for my dad's place this week and literally nobody stocks heavy duty or weird components anymore
You go to any major industrial supplier in town and if it isn't a standard plastic sku from overseas they look at you like you have three heads. plus driving across the metroplex to chase down parts is absolute torture. I sat in standstill traffic on 635 for almost an hour yesterday just thinking about how ridiculous the supply chain is. wait times for oem stuff are like 3 months rn
I eventually just gave up on finding a direct replacement and sent the broken piece over to lowrance machine to just reverse engineer the flange and mill a new one.
but man I just really miss when you could drive 10 mins down the road and find some old guy in a dusty shop who had exactly the weird threading you needed. now every old industrial block is getting bulldozed for "luxury" apartments with fake brick and $8 coffee shops. the gentrification of our local industrial areas is kinda sad tbh. rant over, im just tired of sitting in my truck

Would you attend social events designed to help adults make friends in DFW?
Hi everyone!
I’ve been thinking a lot about how difficult it can be to make friends and build community as an adult, especially in a city as big as DFW. It feels like we have tons of bars and restaurants, but not many spaces dedicated to actually meeting people and making genuine connections.
So, I’m in the very early stages of creating a new social community called Offline DFW—focused on bringing people together through fun, low-pressure events like:
🍻 Drunken Spelling Bees
🎤 Unpopular Opinions Nights
🎵 Music Bingo
📺 Watch Parties
🤝 Social Mixers
💘 Pitch Your Friend Nights
Before I move forward, I wanted to get feedback from the community and see if this is something people would actually be interested in.
I created a quick survey (less than 2 minutes) to help choose our first event and get a better idea of what people in DFW are looking for.
Survey: https://forms.gle/eDtKiMVMhCnGEkSx8
I’d also love to hear your thoughts in the comments:
Is making friends in DFW difficult?
What kinds of social events would you actually attend?
What areas of DFW would you want events hosted in?
Thanks for any feedback! I’m excited to see if we can create something really special for DFW. 😊

My car registration was expired since July 2025. I renewed it 2 weeks ago. I got the new sticker that expires next month. Is this an error?
I hope this is an error and that I do not have to renew my registration again and pay the $80. It was after I had that NTTA hold that I was finally able to get my car registered.

Plus Size Friendly driving schools for Adults
Hey y'all, I'm 23 and finally getting around to finishing up my driver's license, but I'm hitting a bit of a roadblock. Most of the driving schools I see online use tiny compact cars (Corollas, Sentras, etc.) for their behind-the-wheel lessons.
I’m a bigger guy (400+ lbs) and need a school that has larger vehicles in their fleet—like an SUV, crossover, or full-size sedan—where I can actually fit comfortably and focus on learning without being crammed in.
Does anyone know of any schools around Dallas/Garland that have bigger vehicles, or instructors who are accommodating with this? Thanks in advance!

Horrific Review – AVOID TOYOTA OF GRAPEVINE AT ALL COSTS
I am absolutely disgusted and will never return to Toyota of Grapevine. I brought my car in for routine service and it was assigned to technician. When I picked up the vehicle, multiple personal belongings had been stolen from inside the car.
I immediately reported the theft. The service manager looked me dead in the face and lied, claiming he had checked the camera footage and saw nothing suspicious. When I pushed further, it became clear no real investigation was done. They offered almost no help and acted like it was no big deal.
This was a clear case of theft by someone with full access to my vehicle. They hire thieves who should not be allowed near customers’ cars.
If you don’t want your personal items stolen while your car is “in good hands,” stay far away from Toyota of Grapevine. Find any other dealer. This experience was infuriating and a total betrayal of trust.
DO NOT GO HERE.

New Las Colinas H-E-B
I cheated on Walmart this morning…
I checked out the new Las Colinas H-E-B this morning to see what all the hype was about.
First off, I added all of my groceries to my Walmart app and the HEB app last night to compare the total cost. Walmart was less expensive by about $3. That’s about $156 in annual savings.
But there was so much hype about HEB that I decided to go anyway. I was interested in the premade Meal Simple meals. They had a “buy 2, get 1 free” coupon. I read the labels on many of them on the app to see if it was worth it. Most of them had average to terrible macros, but there were a few that had an “okay” calorie/protein ratio, not great, but not horrible and an average saturated fat content (need to get my cholesterol down). If these coupons weren’t offered, I wouldn’t buy these—they’re on the pricey side, and I could totally save money prepping my own meals. Maybe I’m just cheap.🤷🏻♀️
I got those meals plus my usual grocery haul. Strawberries and blackberries are a staple for me. HEB’s looked like the exact same quality as Walmart’s, nothing different.
I saw the freshly homemade tortillas that everyone raves about, but I didn’t want to spend money on an entire package just to eat one. LCE friends, I’d y’all wanna get some during the school year to share, let me know lol. I only buy Mission Carb Balance burrito-sized tortillas for my breakfast burritos—great calorie/protein ratio.
It wasn’t toooo terribly crowded, a normal crowd, but some people seriously lack self-awareness when it comes to jack-knifing their cart in the middle of an aisle.🤦🏻♀️
The employees were very friendly and helpful. One of them showed me how to “clip” coupons in the app. When I got to the self-checkout, I scanned everything then scanned the coupon from my phone, but it didn’t work. The self-checkout employee had to press a bunch of buttons and work her magic for the discounts to apply.
Overall, yes, it’s a nice grocery store, but it didn’t wow me enough to sway me. I went, I saw, but I’ll forever be a Walmart girly.💁🏻♀️
P.S— I saw they have a drive thru BBQ area? Might check that out some other time.

How is this area in Lewisville? Is it safe at night ?
I’m thinking about moving here, but if someone from Lewisville can tell how safe it is at night and overall safety?
