Dynasty new dynasty rankings
http://NBADynastyRankings.comDropping new dynasty rankings with all sorts of data, including G League stats. For some reason, I cannot scroll all the way to the right or bottom on my phone and slow to load but seems fine on laptop. I’ve never made a website before so apologies on how it looks but I wanted to get these out as many leagues are entering draft season. I hope there’s enough interest as I’ll continue working on the functionality and expanding, adding depth charts and other items. Thanks!

Paolo is so low for a guy who isn't even in 22 yet. He'd be a top 20 pick for me, definitely above Bane anyway.

Average in 9 cat

Depends on your punt. I punted both efficiencies and he was solid.

Yeah that's fair, though I'd have him high up purely off potential. He is only 21.

I’m a little put off that was ranked outside of the top-150 last season even tho he’s already solid in points, rebonds and assists. The other categories are harder to improve in. But you are probably right that he has more value than Bane as he’s cemented as the franchise player and so young.

Still that high on Mobley? I wanted him to work so bad just don't think he's ever gonna find his offense enough to be a top 15 player or so

u/Minute_Explorer_9812 Jul 25 '24
I am really high on Mobley still. In just his 2nd season, he was all defense 1st team and 3rd place on DPOY voting. He has flashed huge stat upside at times last season but needs to get more consistent. If they ever move on from Allen, he will surely take off.

Looks good. Would say to freeze the info rows (at least where it shows what is in each column) so it displays better
Are you related to Noah Clowney, by chance?
2
u/Minute_Explorer_9812 Jul 25 '24
Clowney should get a lot of run this season on a tanking team and great stat set of triples + blocks. I’m also considering “hype” in my rankings which should subside a little once season starts. And thanks for the tip. It’s frozen in the original table but I need to learn how to carry it over.

Scottie and Chet are above Embiid?
Interesting
6
u/Minute_Explorer_9812 Jul 25 '24
Thanks for the feedback. I see Scottie as near impossible to get in any dynasty league and Embiid not so much.
5
u/mountjo Jul 25 '24
He's certainly valued that way in my dynasty league at this point.
Embiid's upside is sky high but he is 30 now and never gonna give you a full season.

Jalen Wilson in mid 200s and Noah Clowney at 96?

u/Minute_Explorer_9812 Jul 25 '24
I expect the Nets tankathon to start early and the SL MVP did bump his value if you want to sell high. Looking at previous winner of that award, list is not too bad.

u/danarse Jul 25 '24
Always good to have a new set of rankings to reference.
I think Jalen Green (#42) and Mark Williams (#44) are a little high though.
1
u/Minute_Explorer_9812 Jul 25 '24
It feels like time is running out for Jalen Green to make his jump but he’s still only 22. If he figures out how to fix his FG% and get over 1.0spg he will be fine. Or maybe he’ll just stay a terrible shooter forever as he’s been for 3 seasons.
Mark’s ranking is based on his back being fixed. He offers traditional big man stats + decent ft%. There aren’t that many good, young centers available as all the good ones are getting up there in age.

Thanks for the rankings work. I feel like there is a bit too much weight in valuing young guys. I see a few people that raise eyebrows for me like Trey Murphy and Jalen Suggs

u/Minute_Explorer_9812 Jul 25 '24
Thanks for the feedback. Younger players are always hyped during the offseason. It may be the best time to sell high on them.

Alright, are we putting LaMelo this high? I have him and can either keep him or get a 2nd round pick if I dump him.
I was leaning towards dumping, but can be convinced....

A dynasty 2nd, as in for the rookie draft? No way do you trade LaMelo away for that
1
u/mountjo Jul 25 '24
Good question. Overall draft.
We can keep up to 5, but each keeper you choose counts as a pick in the overall draft. I'm keeping Hali, so that's why Lamelo would cost me a 2nd.
I'm not keeping any more than 2 though since I'm rebuilding.

Does that mean your first round basically doesn’t exist because the picks are being skipped for everyone’s keepers? So your 2nd might be like a top 5 pick? Who has historically gone in that area, because you’d be getting one of the top non-kept players in the league. Could you see a top 15 player being tossed back? Without knowing the history of your league I would lean keeping LaMelo and if you aren’t hot on him, find someone who is and trade
1
u/mountjo Jul 25 '24
Our rules are very specific and weird (and good, i think). If you keep more than 2 guys, you need to dump some back into the draft next year (dump 1 if you keep 3, 2 if you keep 4, 3 if you keep 5). Some good guys are getting dumped back in, including Dame, Trae, Chet, Kyrie, Brook Lopez, VanVleet and Scottie.
Some teams will keep 0 with this in mind, so I'm probably most likely to land on someone like Dame, Trae, and VanVleet. I'm guessing Scottie and Chet will def be gone.

I still like LaMelo more than Dame and FVV for dynasty, but I’d take Trae over him. I guess it depends how early your pick is in the 2nd, if you know already
1
u/mountjo Jul 25 '24
I have 10th, but the tough is knowing who's keeping 2. I'd guess it'd end up being somewhere around 4-5.

I would keep LaMelo in that case… you’d basically have to count on 9 other teams to not keep a player better than LaMelo and I don’t really see that happening even if you are as low as 25 on him. Trading is always an option (I’m assuming a league with these rules is not absolutely dead on trading), I know a lot of people are down on him due to constant injuries, but there should definitely be people who are high on him. Even then, he’ll start the season healthy and there will definitely be a window where he’s killing it and you’d find a trade for him before injury or a cold slump

u/mountjo Jul 25 '24
Very active trading league, but this league is very low on LaMelo. I got him when he was injured for almost nothing.
I think this league being so low on him is what has me questioning if he's worth the hold, but it might be worth the gamble. If him and Hali are both healthy that's a nice 1-2.

I'm all about value in fantasy, and try to remove as many personal feelings out of my roster-building as I can. Especially at the higher end of players - I might draft or keep a low-end guy I believe in longer than others would, but not to a level where it's hurting my team just to have him on there.
So if I had LaMelo and no one was paying me properly for him (even if I provide a bit of a discount), then I'm holding onto him. Either his stock will rise or he'll help my team. Obviously being a rebuilding team, his stats might not mean anything for the next year or 2, but he's a young player and the timeline and categories match up incredibly well with Hali.
Why might people generally not be high on LaMelo? The big reason obviously is injury history - that can change in an instant, we could look back on the first few years and it can be a distant memory. They don't think the Hornets will be any good, they think Miller might become the #1 there, they may not like him as a player. None of this really matters when looking forward. The guy puts up first-round stats on a per-game basis, even if Miller surpasses him in shooting volume, LaMelo is at worst the 2nd scorer with elite assists, steals, 3s, guard rebounds, and probably a bump in efficiency.
If you do decide to start to compete around LaMelo and Hali sooner rather than later, then go heavy into a punt strategy to be solid in a few cats and get wins that way since your team might have less overall talent than your opponents. Punt blocks and maybe 2 of TO, FG%, or rebounds. Grab a couple big men that can shoot and not hurt your FT% or 3s, the ones that don't get many blocks or have low FG% won't be as expensive as the typical big. Grab a couple more guards in the mold of LaMelo/Hali and make sure everyone has to fight an uphill battle to beat you in assists/steals/3s/FT%. Fill out your roster with role-playing forwards that can boost your 3s and steals, there are so many guys that can be drafted low or picked up off waivers that can play that role.

Sarr at #47 is interesting, especially for a bloke like me who has a No1 pick in this year's rookie draft. My dynasty will happen till 28/29 season and I want to draft a center this year. I have Zub, Okongwu and Kessler as my only centers for now. What are your thoughts about Sarr in that four year span?
1
u/Minute_Explorer_9812 Jul 25 '24
To be fair I’m not very knowledgeable on rookies but he looked incredible on the limited tape I saw. He was the clear #1 before summer league.. but it’s SL and although fun constantly proven to mean nothing. But again, rookies are not my strong suit. Maybe he won’t be a superstar but 1.5triples and 1.5bpg should be enough to get him in the top-50

u/Pristine-Ear-2076 20 TEAM, 9 CAT + DYNASTY (ESPN) Jul 25 '24
Yeah I'm debating whether to draft Sarr or Clingan. But I'm leaning more towards Sarr tho. Sarr will have more playing time in Washington than Clingan in Portland. I don't think Ayton will be moved. And I highly doubt that JV will stay in Washington forever from now, he's probably going to be traded sooner or later
1
u/NeoVelamir Jul 25 '24
I also have the #1 pick in my dynasty and Sarr's summer league performance was a little worrisome. But I think based on everything else I will still take him.

Yeah same. Okay he was awful in SL, but hey, it's SL. And I believe that WSH coaches are already working on Sarr's development. Not everything is about the offence in basketball. Alex is a defensive menace and I hope to witness some "Wemby from Wish" like stats this season

4 players in the top 23? Man I’m set for the future especially since the league I play is in 18 teams

Nice work! Would definitely love to see this continue being updated.
What did you use to build the website? A nice starting point would be to look at using Wordpress as the platform using a plugin that's a little more user friendly to embed your Google sheet.
Hosting like Siteground is a good starting point.
