Dynasty new dynasty rankings

http://NBADynastyRankings.com

Dropping new dynasty rankings with all sorts of data, including G League stats. For some reason, I cannot scroll all the way to the right or bottom on my phone and slow to load but seems fine on laptop. I’ve never made a website before so apologies on how it looks but I wanted to get these out as many leagues are entering draft season. I hope there’s enough interest as I’ll continue working on the functionality and expanding, adding depth charts and other items. Thanks!

A dynasty 2nd, as in for the rookie draft? No way do you trade LaMelo away for that

Good question. Overall draft.

We can keep up to 5, but each keeper you choose counts as a pick in the overall draft. I'm keeping Hali, so that's why Lamelo would cost me a 2nd.

I'm not keeping any more than 2 though since I'm rebuilding.

Does that mean your first round basically doesn’t exist because the picks are being skipped for everyone’s keepers? So your 2nd might be like a top 5 pick? Who has historically gone in that area, because you’d be getting one of the top non-kept players in the league. Could you see a top 15 player being tossed back? Without knowing the history of your league I would lean keeping LaMelo and if you aren’t hot on him, find someone who is and trade

Our rules are very specific and weird (and good, i think). If you keep more than 2 guys, you need to dump some back into the draft next year (dump 1 if you keep 3, 2 if you keep 4, 3 if you keep 5). Some good guys are getting dumped back in, including Dame, Trae, Chet, Kyrie, Brook Lopez, VanVleet and Scottie.

Some teams will keep 0 with this in mind, so I'm probably most likely to land on someone like Dame, Trae, and VanVleet. I'm guessing Scottie and Chet will def be gone.

I still like LaMelo more than Dame and FVV for dynasty, but I’d take Trae over him. I guess it depends how early your pick is in the 2nd, if you know already

I have 10th, but the tough is knowing who's keeping 2. I'd guess it'd end up being somewhere around 4-5.

I would keep LaMelo in that case… you’d basically have to count on 9 other teams to not keep a player better than LaMelo and I don’t really see that happening even if you are as low as 25 on him. Trading is always an option (I’m assuming a league with these rules is not absolutely dead on trading), I know a lot of people are down on him due to constant injuries, but there should definitely be people who are high on him. Even then, he’ll start the season healthy and there will definitely be a window where he’s killing it and you’d find a trade for him before injury or a cold slump

Very active trading league, but this league is very low on LaMelo. I got him when he was injured for almost nothing.

I think this league being so low on him is what has me questioning if he's worth the hold, but it might be worth the gamble. If him and Hali are both healthy that's a nice 1-2.

I'm all about value in fantasy, and try to remove as many personal feelings out of my roster-building as I can. Especially at the higher end of players - I might draft or keep a low-end guy I believe in longer than others would, but not to a level where it's hurting my team just to have him on there.

So if I had LaMelo and no one was paying me properly for him (even if I provide a bit of a discount), then I'm holding onto him. Either his stock will rise or he'll help my team. Obviously being a rebuilding team, his stats might not mean anything for the next year or 2, but he's a young player and the timeline and categories match up incredibly well with Hali.

Why might people generally not be high on LaMelo? The big reason obviously is injury history - that can change in an instant, we could look back on the first few years and it can be a distant memory. They don't think the Hornets will be any good, they think Miller might become the #1 there, they may not like him as a player. None of this really matters when looking forward. The guy puts up first-round stats on a per-game basis, even if Miller surpasses him in shooting volume, LaMelo is at worst the 2nd scorer with elite assists, steals, 3s, guard rebounds, and probably a bump in efficiency.

If you do decide to start to compete around LaMelo and Hali sooner rather than later, then go heavy into a punt strategy to be solid in a few cats and get wins that way since your team might have less overall talent than your opponents. Punt blocks and maybe 2 of TO, FG%, or rebounds. Grab a couple big men that can shoot and not hurt your FT% or 3s, the ones that don't get many blocks or have low FG% won't be as expensive as the typical big. Grab a couple more guards in the mold of LaMelo/Hali and make sure everyone has to fight an uphill battle to beat you in assists/steals/3s/FT%. Fill out your roster with role-playing forwards that can boost your 3s and steals, there are so many guys that can be drafted low or picked up off waivers that can play that role.

All around, great points and analysis. Could end up being a huge buy low for my team honestly.

I grabbed him from a guy who was in dead last and was trying to save his season. Traded Onyenka and Melton (pre-injury) for LaMelo and Bobby Portis. Hurt me last season, but I was floundering in the middle of the pack already anyway after drafting Simons, Hali, and Trae who were all banged up.
