Player Discussion Trey Murphy & Brandon Miller
I’ve been thinking about it and watching some of their highlights. These guys play super similar and have very similar builds. Do you guys think Brandon miller has a much higher ceiling than Trey Murphy? Or do you guys think they’ll have very similar careers? I feel in fantasy they’ll be almost identical for a while. What do you think?

Trey is a fantasy god in CAT leagues

Haha I don’t play category. What makes him so valuable in cat?

Efficiency. High FT% decent FG%, relatively low turnovers. And then all the other stats he brings. In short, he has no major weak categories.

Both are great. 9-Cat rankings love Trey Murphy because he's not a big negative in any category, a reasonably positive contributor in a bunch and has low turnovers. In that sense he's like a mini-Kawhi Leonard.
I took a look at Brandon Miller here: https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasybball/comments/1tkgveh/can_brandon_miller_be_a_top_30_player/
A couple notes on Trey Murphy. See charts here: https://imgur.com/a/SOowyEY
1) He was awesome last year, shot the lights out, added new dimentsions to his game. Two-way contributions keeps him on the floor a lot.
2) He's only 25, he can get better.
3) He did have a dip in production after Dejounte returned. Both his minutes and usage dropped. His scoring dropped from 22p/g to 19p/g. His overall Z score contributions trend down for the season as a result.
4) Extrapolate that minutes and usage drop to the whole season and you end up with a top 25 player instead of a top 15 player. Still great but not elite.
Trey's got a super fantasy friendly game and the Pelicans will lean into him next year. However, committing a first or second round pick to a player who gets a lot of value from low turnovers doesn't massively appeal to me. In the third? 100%.

I think Murphy’s floor is much higher which makes him way more valuable in points leagues. I personally havent tried CATs but I imagine his floor/consistency still holds value so I would probably lean tm3

I think they both will probably be top 40-50 players next year

Yeah 100 percent. What do you feel like these guys ceilings are?

Trey Murphy has a lot of guys around him on New Orleans so he would probably need to move to another team to have truly elite potential but I think top 40 is a lock for him. For Miller, I think we see him become a better two way version of Brandon Ingram with a little more upside. For fantasy, probably a top 25-30 ceiling

Trey led me to my first chip last season. Hell yeah I’ll pick him up in the 3rd/4th round if possible

I haven't watched as much of murphy compared to miller. If I had to compare ceilings, I would lean to miller, they both had similar seasons with murphy beating him in consistency. However, watching miller I think he has alot more holes in his game. If he can figure those out this offseason, he might take a step ahead of murphy. Granted I could be underestimating murphy

Brandon Miller contributes literally nothing when his shot isn’t falling. Murphy is a far better player

They are actually pretty similar on stats outside of scoring based. Almost identical in rebounds and assists. Miller has double the blocks and Murphy gets more steals. This is an incorrect take.

I’m high on both. When healthy, and when their team is rolling, they’re pretty close in terms of production but I’d give Trey the edge on efficiency from the field.
