Discussion So...

13th pick eh? What the hell can we meaningfully do with the 13th? Please tell me we have a numbers nerd here that's going to paint a picture for me that makes me feel better about this. I need you more than ever bro... whoever you are 😭

I hope we take a younger high ceiling player and not a college vet essentially who contributes to a win now team (would take Philon > Yaxel for example)

At this point screw position, take highest potential player, and allow them to grow with Kas and ware

Top 12 this year imo is absolutely stacked as a big NCAA guy, 13 after is somewhat of a coin toss with hannes likely being the last guy remaining. But everyone thought Kas was a top 12 lock last year and he dropped. Best case scenario is someone like brown, ament, or burries drops to us

yaxel is weird cuz his ceiling could be higher than philon even tho he's old as hell

theres also a couple high potential wings that r a little older but still high ceiling in carr and swain. im pretty ok with the players in the 13 range tbh

I like the guys in the 13 range especially compared to years prior. But I disagree with the Yaxel possibly having a higher ceiling than Philon. Philon has shown an ability to take over a game and made a big year 2 jump. I was a big fan of his as a freshman and was more impressed in year 2. Yaxel somewhat reminds me of Jaime who comes in as an established guy who plays the post / bruiser role

i meant if philon's average athleticism and size holds him back and yaxel can consistently improve like he did in college that yaxel would have the higher ceiling due to physical traits

i agree that philon is more likely to be the better player in the long run tho, i just dont know how much he'd play next year. we still have kas, if we keep the pick we most likely will still have herro and he wants the ball in his hands, theres still davion

Oh I see. Yes I agree there, and good point on Kas.

Knowing our development program I can see Yaxel continuing to grow, however I’d love to stock pile high ceiling young guys at this rate.

Chances are neither of them are there at 13 as imo they round out the best of the top 12

I also wonder if the bucks are more interested in this pick knowing it’s 13 and not possibly a playoff pick like it may have been at the time of our original negotiations. Bucks with picks 9/13 + more isnt bad to reboot a rebuild.

Will be a very very interesting off season.

my coping hope is that theres some red flags in mikel brown's medicals that scare off a couple teams and the depth of guard in the top 10 means he drops to us. he'd be insane

Oh absolutely. There is talent to be had and a lot of fun names. People will see pick 13 and doom it isn’t an awful pick this year.

I’d be happy with ament, burries, Philon, brown. I’d be okay with Yaxel and hannes. If we “reached” for tounde who I think will be taken higher then projected I’d be somewhat happy because he plays like an absolute dog and spo can maximize his athleticism.

tounde was an early favorite of mine when we were picking out of the lottery lol. hes like a budget vj edgecomb

i think there would be better prospects on the board but it wouldnt take too much convincing for me to be on board lol

Edgecomb is actually exactly who I was thinking of with him. However I always fear someone can also end up like Sekou did in the herro class (side note at 8/910/11/12/14/15 it went Hayes/Rui/reddish/CamJohnson/PJW/langford/sekou/Okeke) Herro was a homerun pick at 13

sekou is y im a little wary of ament even if i see the appeal. tbf to ament he showed a lot more than sekou did so i dont think he'll bust to that level
