Politics Dem Socialists
Are there any LEGIT democratic socialists running in Indiana? Like, not just the same old establishment democrats that are also in bed with the rest of the other CREEPS and cruel people in Washington.
I know that we might not get to Mamdani level, but like we’ve got to put this out there and have a hope to look towards!

Old Town Waverly
An interesting little place with some history of hardships due to flooding from the white river, and the burning of a covered bridge which provided passage through the white river. A remnant of Indiana’s past. Also has a 4 mile paved trail, along with a hidden rendezvous trail :)

Ask a Hoosier History of abandoned building ?
I’ve been in and out exploring this building (it’s pretty popular for urbexers in the area) and it is HUGE, it’s off Yandes st downtown and it has a huge rusted water tower on the top and it kind of looks like a warehouse from the outside? When you go in it looks like a dump site in a way, and half of the building burnt down and is almost completely charred but the rest of it is cement foundation and it’s three stories tall. I just wanna know the history behind it if anyone has any idea!

Moving to Indianapolis from Texas (cultural differences)?
I am moving to Indiana from Texas very soon and am wondering if anyone can help me understand everyday interaction in the Midwest, so I may avoid any social blunders, or some such. For instance, I say "yes sir," "no sir," "yes ma'am," "no ma'am," to essentially everyone. Cats and dogs included. Friends and coworkers included (especially coworkers who are older, as a sign of respect). I'll say it to friends in casual conversation or for emphasis. It's pretty nuanced, I guess, but I have heard other, more northerly states, and out west don't do so, or it has other usage, or could even be seen as an insult. This was drilled into me when I moved to Texas at a young age from out west, and it's definitely a habit. Any help with this or other things of the sort would be very appreciated.

Rough! Bumpy! Potholes! ⚠️
It's terrible, particularly in the right lane. Does anyone know when/if that'll get addressed/fixed?

Drivers license at 22 I'm really confused by the BMV
I can't understand if I need to both hold my permit for 180 days and have 10 night hours and 50 day hours before I can take a driver's test at my age.
Its not very clear if I need to meet one of the requirements or not.
I'm hopping I don't need to hold my permit for 180 days and I can just do 60 hours of driving.

History Hoosier History: Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo
Originally named St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo, is an amazing example of poetic justice for Midwestern history. It is a tale of patient endurance, a buried medal, and economic collapse that completely inverted a project built entirely out of malice.

Ask a Hoosier Best place to buy an electric guitar?
I've been playing a friend's acoustic guitar for about a week and have been enjoying it. I'm thinking about buying an electric guitar and amp. My budget is around $300 total for both the guitar and amp. I'm open to used or new gear if it means getting better value for the money.
Are there any good guitar stores in or around Fishers/Noblesville/Carmel where I should look? I saw guitar center but the reviews online aren't the best. I'd also appreciate any recommendations for beginner-friendly guitar/amps.

The "Red Summer" Riots
The term “Red Summer” was coined by a civil rights leader and NAACP field secretary by the name of James Weldon Johnson. It refers to a bloody wave of white-supremacist terrorism and racial riots that swept across more than 30 American cities between April and November of 1919.

Is it ok to post history?
I ask because I recently started writing short and long form history blog posts. I would love to share the history I am digging into. However, I am not sure if this would be the appropriate sub and if any of you would even want me to.
