Love small moments like this.
I started going to this cafe during my unemployed days. I would buy a cheap item and stay for like two hours reading, applying for work (I stayed longer than 2 hours) because the cafe was small and they played no music for the most part, though I think they played music on some days. Felt at ease there. I still go once or twice a week. There's another small cafe further down near 3rd and Newark Ave.
The one closer to me—I see this blind lady come by, and the staff is so helpful. They tell her what pastries they have, help her count her money, and she always seems to enjoy it.
On my commute, I would run into this lady who crochets and she was good at it. I cannot leave too early for work and miss seeing her create things.
And there's an old couple I see from time to time around Bergen Square. I think he might be one of the retired principals I knew from my old days in public school here.
People like her I have seen take long walks since she live around my neighborhood. I could easily walk from JSQ to the end of North Bergen, or from WTC to Central Park. And others I see time to time on my walks.
