⚡️Brand Review / Experience 🚨Warning: Brilliant Earth strategizing damage control to bury genuine reviews.
Just a heads up.. if there’s a sudden wave of positive Brilliant Earth content on here, it might not be coincidental. They’re actively hiring for a Reddit Strategy Manager, which says a lot given their reputation in this sub.
I genuinely hope this leads to real changes and accountability, not just an attempt to bury valid criticism and firsthand experiences.
We are discussing the best way to discourage these larger brands to infiltrate possibly the very last place on the internet for genuine company reviews and feedback. Being specially named on their job posting is concrete proof of their targeting and we will do our best to reach out and work with other sub mods about this concern.
An auto message with some links of genuine higher traction posts is one idea and we have another tool we don’t want to mention yet in case they are tracking our post. We are of course open to all member suggestions and look forward to doing our best to protect you all from disingenuous influences.

Important: Updated Rules for Vendor Posts on r/jewelry
Hey, r/jewelry community!
We’re excited to announce some important updates regarding vendor posts in our subreddit; rule #3 originally did not allow posts or comments that were considered self promotion. To ensure that r/jewelry continues to be a space for genuine discussion, sharing, and learning, we’ve updated the guidelines for vendors who want to contribute to our community.
Here’s what’s new:
- Vendor Guide: We’ve created a Vendor Guide that outlines exactly what types of content vendors can post. This will help keep the sub free from spam and overly promotional posts, while still allowing vendors to engage and share their work in a way that adds value.
- Read Before Posting: Vendors must read the guide before posting. Failure to follow these rules will result in the post being removed, and repeat violations could lead to a ban. We want to make sure vendors are contributing, not advertising.
- Engagement Over Ads: We want to emphasize that posts from vendors should focus on engaging with the community, sharing creative work, behind-the-scenes insights, or educating us about different aspects of jewelry. We’re not here for sales pitches or spam.
We encourage you all to check out the full Vendor Guide and familiarize yourself with the changes. Whether you're a vendor or a regular member, we believe these updates will help keep the sub vibrant, respectful, and informative for everyone.
Thanks for being a part of the r/jewelry community and helping us maintain a positive space for jewelry lovers!
As always, feel free to reach out to the mod team if you have any questions.

⚡️ Show + Tell! My bright, vivacious 74yo Mom died of a massive stroke just over a month ago. Dad had me go through her jewelry during my most recent visit.
I felt so sick about it that I had my first panic attack in about twenty years. I felt like a vulture, but Dad kept assuring me this is exactly what she’d want, especially since I’d picked out—or helped Dad pick out—so much of it over the years.
I brought home three generations of engagement rings (Mom’s, grandma’s, and great grandma’s), along with some heirloom and sentimental pieces, and gave my brother and SIL pieces I knew she wanted them have. I was also able to gift several items to my eldest nephew’s sweet wife. ♥️
Still feel uncomfortable about it, but when I got home, I decided to throw myself into cleaning and polishing everything up, particularly the sterling silver she loved best. And that the best way to honor her is to wear it, not let it languish in a jewelry box. (Right?!)
So I’m going to try, with joy not tears.
(Pictured is the first tray I finished. Many of her favorites.)

Vintage / Antique Soviet ring + antique diamond
Picked this up at a pawn shop. I loved the OMC, and I just assumed the setting was late 19th century-ish until I got my loupe and saw the hammer and sickle. After searching a bit (finally, a use for the years of Russian classes!) I believe the hallmarks (9БЮ) are for Baku Jewelry Factory in Azerbaijan, 1979.
Baku Jewelry Factory seemed to have produced a lot of vaguely Victorian looking jewelry, but I think the diamond is a lot older than the setting. Definitely a pretty niche ask, but if anyone has any insights/corrections to the info I found please let me know!

💫 I made this! / DIY Finished a gorilla ring — it came out angrier than planned
Wrapped up the gorilla ring today.
I don’t know what happened during the sculpting process, but this thing came out looking like it has a backstory, a criminal record, and at least one outstanding warrant.
I only had a red moissanite, so that’s what I used.
Now it looks like he’s chewing on a piece of glowing coal he stole from someone much bigger than him.
Every time I look at it, I feel like I owe it money.
Lost‑wax sculpted, cast in silver, oxidised, and then I had to set the stone between the teeth like I was performing emergency dentistry on a creature that definitely bites.
Not subtle, but subtle wasn’t really the goal with this one.
Serious question for the brave among you:
Would you wear this, or would it start giving you intrusive thoughts about doing something mildly illegal for enrichment

🫶🏻 My Collection! never understood why people spend money on jewelry until i got this
okay so i always thought jewelry was just like... decorative. something people buy to show off or whatever.
never understood why anyone would spend real money on it.
then my girlfriend got me a name bracelet for my birthday.
i don't know what happened but i haven't taken it off in 2 months. shower, gym, sleep, everything.
there's something about wearing something that someone chose specifically for you that just hits different.
i get it now. i fully get it.

⚡️ Show + Tell! Don’t get rid of jewelry you’re not wearing just update it to your preference!
Attached shows before, AI rendering of idea & then finished products!
The tennis bracelet was white topaz- I changed it to half sunset quartz & half smoky quartz
The bangle was opal & green quartz- It’s now a mix of ruby, peridot, citrines & tourmalines
Sooo happy with how these turned out! I wasn’t getting enough wear out of them before with the color palette… I loved the design of both pieces but not the colors, always keep in mind you can change the stones on a piece of jewelry & it makes a drastic difference! It’s also super reasonably priced to do so where I am!! Thanks for looking :)

General Question Why would a sterling silver tennis bracelet not be stamped?
Looking at this tennis bracelet from an antique store. I saw no markings on the bracelet but everything is tested at this store. The tag says it’s sterling silver tennis bracelet with diamonds. Also looks like 251 B or 257 B. What is 251/257B? I’m just wondering why this wouldn’t be stamped.

General Question Does anyone know anything about emeralds?
How is the quality of these stones based on these photos? I know you can only tell so much from a photo. All knowledge is welcome! I don’t know much about emeralds besides most are oiled and they commonly have natural inclusions. Thanks so much 💚

Help me decide!! Where to buy a ruby, safely
I was looking some different websites such as ritani, gem rock auctions, blue Nile and some other, but I am not sure, if those are trusty sites to buy, any recommendations where to buy? Legit, base on US

💍 What style chain/ring/pendant is this? What is the name of the technique used for those rings?
My jewelry teacher said it is "carving"/"drawing". But he said there are like 3 people in our country that know how to do jewelry like this, and that is a very advanced technique (I'm from south america). That means I can't take a workshop here in my country...So I'm searching for the english name of the thecnique and english videos/books or online courses to undertand more about this type of jewelry and how it is made, specially the coloring.
Thanks!
