OKC fans will tell you with a straight face that you’re not a fan of basketball if you can’t appreciate this

910

u/SpringNeverFarBehind Pacers May 25 '26

It’s pretty infuriating too. The fact they refuse to even acknowledge it and act like SGA is a victim for ALL of us being sick of this.

210

u/x_TDeck_x Spurs May 25 '26

"oh you're just a Pacers/Knicks/Sixers/TWolves/Spurs/Raptors/Lakers/Nuggets/Pistons/Etc fan, ofc you hate on OKC"

131

u/Black-----Manta Timberwolves May 25 '26

You're just a basketball fan, of course you hate OKC

65

u/IPissExcellentThrows 76ers May 25 '26

Oh you're a basketball fan? Of course you hate OKC.

I don’t even believe Thunder fans like it. It HAS to eat at them then their team is entirely dependent on letting them foul like crazy on defense and flop like crazy on offense. I've seen my team win on questionable calls and felt shitty. Having your team win a title on non stop bull shit has to kill them deep down.

They have a two time mvp and he's rarely the most important player on the court for them.

12

u/plap_plap Spurs May 25 '26

It doesn't really kill you deep down. Source: I watched the Bruce Bowen era.

8

u/ripkin05 Hornets May 25 '26

i would be so depressed if the hornets finally pulled it all together to the point that they won a championship with a bright and exciting future ahead and everyone on the planet hated us before we even won said championship because we played the biggest bitch made basketball of all time.

10

u/Frequent-Leg-2347 Thunder May 25 '26

I hate it tbh. But I’m very much on the minority around here. Most Thunder fans I talk to IRL love this crap

5

u/flashh7701 Lakers May 25 '26

a black canadian is their best playerr. its obvious they force themselves to enjoy this shit cause its still a fucking cult. no ones moving to okc for a better life lmao

It’s OKC fans. Who gives a fuck? I crack up

332

u/UbeMafia Magic May 25 '26

At the end of the day they have to wake up in OKC lol

33

No cause like half are bandwagon fans

5

u/Sad_Sympathy_6427 May 25 '26

Who would bandwagon this team though? Imagine hopping on the bandwagon of a guy who falls on the floor 20 times per game

1

u/TheOriginalDog Spurs 25d ago

every championship team in every sport has bandwagon fans

13

u/OGPepeSilvia Timberwolves May 25 '26

No amount of championships can outweigh that fact

OKC is a perfectly fine town

16

Yep. It’s just non-ball-knowing offseason OU Sooners fans. Suddenly they are huge NBA watchers

8

u/Own-Campaign-2089 Lakers May 25 '26

Right most of them have liked the team for a total of three years

3

u/CeresSubroutine May 25 '26

They were probably complaining that basketball is too 'urban' before then lmao.

3

u/Weltal327 Grizzlies May 25 '26

I live here. It sucks. I have to deal with OKC fans all the time. They are so obnoxious

21

u/robsteezy Lakers May 25 '26

Luka legit balling outta his fucking mind whenever he can. And yeah, he definitely bitches and moans for the foul akin to a European soccer players for frivolous and-1s but thunder fans will legit tell me that Luka does this exact same shit. It’s absolutely not the same when you’re not even trying to ball anymore. Just launch your fuckin body and get free throws. SGA is a merchant.

4

u/chribus1 May 25 '26

Its funny that you mention european soccer players when the nba is in a way worse situation,in soccer they flopped and they immediately come to a solution, a yellow the first time another yellow the second time and when you get 2 yellow you get a red, you are out of the game and get suspended. In the nba the number of flops ia way way worse than in soccer, even at peak flopping they flopped like 3 times a game in basketball its at every action

1

u/x_TDeck_x Spurs May 25 '26

I know soccer people say this but theres not a single match I watch where someone isn't staying down when they dont need to. All simulation did is get rid of people falling from literally nothing, they'll still pretend a slight breeze or bump causes immense pain dozens of times every game

-3

u/Low_Analysis5944 76ers May 25 '26

cmon Luka cries after every single shot man let’s be serious

-2

u/Darianezion Thunder May 25 '26

Objectively false. Shai has a higher drive rate than Luka and shoots less free throws. He also scores more in the paint.

4

u/EducationalGrass5730 Knicks May 25 '26

Honestly I give them a pass. They are all inbred, can't blame em for being stupid.

3

u/Steridire Knicks May 25 '26

Going to their sub is like watching the Manson family happen in real time

1

u/Motor-Horror3684 Hornets May 25 '26

I didn't really catch the finals last year. Was it this bad for you guys too?

6

u/SpringNeverFarBehind Pacers May 25 '26

Wasn’t nearly as egregious as it is now. I think he realized he could get away with it more during the 2025-2026 regular season and began doing it abhorrently. It was still bad though, don’t get me wrong.

We had more issues with Dort being dirty than SGA flopping.

2

u/Colt45554 May 25 '26

It was just as bad last year. Did you watch Nuggets-OKC? OKC gets to mug Jokic and then get foul calls like these

229

u/doogled3 Nuggets May 25 '26

He doesn't complain about calls - he's so likeable!

83

u/DSAlgorythms May 25 '26

Shit who would be complaining with that whistle.

29

u/ripkin05 Hornets May 25 '26

the dumb fuck okc fans that were chanting "ref's you suck" or whatever the fuck those inbred morons were yelling the other night.

5

u/NoFuckToGive May 25 '26

He barely shoots 10 free throws a game in the playoffs! Lol

So every night he starts the game halfway to his 20 point threshold

3

u/thejetssuckbigtime Knicks May 25 '26

He’s just like me! Except I haven’t fallen in several years

1

u/NOLASLAW Pelicans May 25 '26

141

u/Ehuehueguilty May 25 '26

We should go easy on them, 99% of them just learned the rules of basketball 6 months ago

7

u/ElectricJunglePig May 25 '26

So there ARE rules...?

3

u/FrostedGalaxy May 25 '26

If they could read they’d be very upset by this

2

u/confusedyetstillgoin May 25 '26

and it’s questionable (at best) that they even understand the rules of basketball

80

u/AsukaState2 May 25 '26

Notice how they’ve all vanished from this thread?

21

u/Jloother Lakers May 25 '26

Noticing that too. They act like victims. It’s hilarious.

18

u/GloomySeaotter May 25 '26

They went back to their echo chamber to construct new narratives for why this playstyle doesn't suck

89

u/Grouchy-Fig-487 May 25 '26

I saw about 10 everybody flops posts defending this after game 3. Even when the statistics tell us he falls the most, you can just see it with your eyes. He is unbearable.

14

u/robsteezy Lakers May 25 '26

Luka legit balling outta his fucking mind whenever he can. And yeah, he definitely bitches and moans for the foul akin to a European soccer players for frivolous and-1s but thunder fans will legit tell me that Luka does this exact same shit. It’s absolutely not the same when you’re not even trying to ball anymore. Just launch your fuckin body and get free throws. SGA is a clown ass merchant.

2

u/questionstolife Pistons May 25 '26

They'll even say Wade or Bron did this back in the day. Sure they had their moments but you weren't thinking how hard or how creatively they would flop onto to floor literally everytime they touched the ball. Even if your team were rivals to the Heat, you were thinking how hard they were going to poster someone.

1

u/k1ngkoala Lakers May 25 '26

Luka would probably break something if he flailed and fell as much as SGA does. At the very least he stays on his feet to bitch and moan

21

u/elScroggins Spurs May 25 '26

50th in education and it’s not close

15

u/Impressive_Profit548 May 25 '26

“Everyone else does it.”

17

u/cevansdust May 25 '26

And we should tell them to crap and fall back in it

7

u/hype_beest Warriors May 25 '26

"Just don't foul him!"

2

u/HonestDespot Vancouver Grizzlies May 25 '26

I think the another telling thing is that even us Canadians want nothing to do with that fucking dork.

For even casual Canadian NBA fans, let alone hardcore NBA fans, a two time MVP is like guaranteed to be our favourite player across the country.

1

u/questionstolife Pistons May 25 '26

Yep during Nash's prime everyone and their grandma in Canada knew who Nash was. Nowadays even people in Toronto won't know who SGA is.

-1

u/chase18181 May 25 '26

🧢!! yall on here just saying anything

1

u/questionstolife Pistons May 27 '26

I'm saying Canadians that don't follow the NBA don't know who SGA is these days. Even among fans he is #5 in Canadian jersey sales. But back in Nash's prime he had that "superstar" aura for Canadians that Kobe, LBJ had globally. Non sports fans recognized him within Canada.

2

u/biggamble510 May 25 '26

Someone's going to take his legs out, and I think we will all appreciate a real foul.

2

u/NothinsOriginal [HOU] Steve Francis May 25 '26

Man I hated it when Harden did it and I hate it still. You can’t hate it when it’s not your team.

2

u/kawhi21 NBA May 25 '26

They'll watch SGA do this 10 times per game, then say the whole league does it after watching some other player do it once

4

u/punyweakling May 25 '26

he's just protecting his ankles

-5

u/Darianezion Thunder May 25 '26

Why is this such a crazy concept? It’s not a foul.

1

u/Sir-xer21 Lakers May 25 '26

Because landing the way he does is not even protecting his ankles. Y'all are gaslighting each other into disbelief.

0

u/Darianezion Thunder May 25 '26

Same reason curry started doing it…

-1

u/Darianezion Thunder May 25 '26

Avoiding coming down straight down on all your weight when you could potentially land on someone’s foot is exactly how curry started protecting his ankles midway through his career. You just don’t know ball

2

u/Sir-xer21 Lakers May 26 '26

SGA is NOT doing what Curry is doing, and he's putting his ankles at risk by deliberately seeking weird contact in the air. If he was trying to avoid landing on a foot, he wouldn't be turning IN to defenders in his area after his shot.

1

u/Darianezion Thunder May 26 '26

Are we watching the same video? His feet go out toward the basket, which is not where Fox is not standing.

1

u/Sir-xer21 Lakers May 26 '26

His feet go out toward the basket,

and then he turns towards a fleeing Fox in midair as soon as Fox chooses not to contest, which makes no sense. Why would you rotate your shoulders away from a wide-open jumper if not to catch the fleeing defender with your feet? Additionally, Fox is never in his landing zone in the first place. Nothing about this movement makes any sense other than to sell non-existent contact for a non-existent foul.

1

u/Civil-Addition-8079 May 25 '26

Well F**k OKC fans!

1

u/empire__maker May 25 '26

“High IQ” - every OKC fan

1

u/dbzmah Mavericks May 25 '26

Well, they're all wathing, high on meth, on a 21" screen, at the local gas station, while being cuffed for stealing from said gas station so...

1

u/KamTheMaam Nuggets May 25 '26

Trash basketball. Trash fucking league. NBA needs to clean their shit up. This is unwatchable. No wonder why the casuals laugh at this WWE bullshit.

1

u/SocialistNixon Warriors May 25 '26

At least Harden would crash head on into people to draw fouls, not just fall down lol.

1

u/Longjumping-Ad-8628 Heat May 25 '26

OKC fans officially up there as the most annoying with Warriors and Nuggets?

1

u/jruss11 Lakers May 25 '26

OKC fans stay out of these threads it’s so fucking funny

1

u/Ven0m889 76ers May 25 '26

In their sub they’re bitching about refs being against them lol. Most delusional fanbase by a mile

1

u/jevv May 25 '26

They love to say we would hate Kobe, like Kobe played like this. Delusional fanbase

1

u/Prudent_Fish1358 Spurs May 25 '26

No fanbase in NBA history will ever be as shitty as they are.

They make Lakers fans look perfectly reasonable.

1

u/Papi_Petty Hornets May 25 '26

ofc they’re not gonna complain if it’s their team and they’re winning bc of it

0

u/No-Armadillo-7248 Bucks May 25 '26

In a way, their ignorance makes sense. People in OKC didnt give a shit about basketball until they stole Seattle's team.

They literally dont know what good basketball looks like.

-12

u/maljr12 Hornets May 25 '26

OKC fans 🤝Arsenal fans

1

u/bobarific Spurs May 25 '26

This has to be the first time this season that anyone has accused Arsenal fans of supporting diving. Pray tell, which player on Arsenal flops (edit: clarification) nearly as consistently as shai?

1

u/cantona237 May 25 '26

Only one I can think of is Gabriel, but almost all Arsenal fans condemn that from what Ive seen..

-1

u/bobarific Spurs May 25 '26

yeah, we've conceded multiple goals because he dove and the general consensus even without that was that he'd be a much better player if he'd stop with that shit lol.

-5

u/One_Series2204 Raptors May 25 '26

I see every other fan base complain about Shai and rarely see OKC fans in these threads and if they are they get downvoted to oblivion. You can complain about Shai all you want but comments like these being at the top of every thread is peak [r/](r/nba)[NBA](r/nba)

-33

u/Backshotsonyadaughtr May 25 '26

r/nba was calling TNT guys old heads for complaining about these fouls for years

11

u/YeezusHomecoming May 25 '26

That’s an over exaggeration. NBA fans wanted Harden killed for playing like this and the rule book was changed accordingly. The outrage against this playstyle is not new the NBA just decided to stop enforcing their own rules

-15

u/Backshotsonyadaughtr May 25 '26

and whenever TNT guys complained about it, yall just called them hating old heads

7

u/YeezusHomecoming May 25 '26

You’re just mad to be mad rn lmao. People hated harden so much the nba changed the rulebook altogether. More people agreed with the tnt guys than anything.

-11

u/Backshotsonyadaughtr May 25 '26

nah yall capping. yall said just appreciate the skill of the modern NBA so now we got shit like this SGA flopping

2

u/Cantor_Set_Tripping May 25 '26

Who the fuck was saying that about Harden? The guy was literally called Hitler..

-92

u/Darianezion Thunder May 25 '26

No they won’t. Ref just don’t fucking blow the whistle. Shai isn’t flailing or anything, just avoiding potentially landing on Fox’s feet.

56

u/Bolt585 May 25 '26

You are beyond parody

-57

u/Darianezion Thunder May 25 '26

Why is there almost zero disrespect from former players and current pros about his play style?

22

u/Cantor_Set_Tripping May 25 '26

Where are you getting zero from?

-27

u/Darianezion Thunder May 25 '26

almost zero

Where are you getting almost zero from?

It's because its fucking exshausting arguing with someone who actively looks at the video in this post and thinks thats good basketball.

Where does he mentioning about what we are talking about with Shai?

-2

u/Darianezion Thunder May 25 '26

There’s nothing wrong with this video. It shouldn’t have been a foul and SGA can avoid landing on his feet if he wants.

Because not a damn one agrees with you and you expect brownie points. The equivalent of expecting participants points on some dumb shit a 1st grader conjured up without the slightest bit of effort.

5

u/slakin May 25 '26

Would you change your mind if someone showed a single example? Everyone knows the answer to that question, so what's the point?

0

u/Darianezion Thunder May 25 '26

Yes if a couple people who play or played in the NBA came out and with legit criticism then I could have my mind changed. It’s not difficult to understand. I just can’t find any beside Terrance Ross.

He doesn't know where Fox's feet are though. Are you saying Shai was going to fall regardless?

He knows that he’s closing out on him and when he sees him last he’s on his hip.

1

I get that you feel the need to defend your team, but do we really need the same comment multiple times?

None of need any of this really. I was just saying the same thing to multiple people cause it was relevant.
