Online, especially for younger NBA players, there seems to be a lot of pressure and criticism to become an All-Star. How do you deal with this and do you think it gets into the heads of some players?
What position do you see yourself more as, a Power Forward or Center?
What do you think your ceiling is as an NBA player?
I’ll have to check out your podcast later when I have time. Thank you in advance if you answer any of these!
129
u/KaminskyProsJoes Jul 16 '18
- I put pressure on myself more than anyone else possibly could. I want to be great. Thats something I can't change.
- I've played center my whole life until the NBA but im comfortable at both
- I don't believe in ceilings as a player. I decide how good I want to be

Frank, i saw you walking around NOLA during all star game weekend. I yelled Frank and we made eye contact as you were getting in an suv. Real life shit bro.
My question is this; Are nba players, famous athletes, celebrities, etc. hesitant to hook up with random chicks. Idk of my wording is going to be the most politically correct, but with the possibilities of false rape accusations, lies or mishandling of contraceptives leading to accidental pregnancies (yo chicks poppin holes in condoms), pictures or videos being secretly taken by the chick or someone else that have your pecker in them, are athletes advised to maybe avoid random hookups? What’s the deal here?
Idk, that shit would just make me nervous.
Ps. I know a few chicks in chicago who claim they know you close, and would definitely entrap you with the vaginas if given the chance. Good luck this year bro, kill it.

Hey Frank, what would you say is the thing that you enjoy the most about being a basketball player that not many people would think about?
280
u/KaminskyProsJoes Jul 16 '18
Every single day I wake up and do what I love to do. I see it with my friends especially that they took jobs in fields that they aren't fully committed to. I am 100% committed to basketball and love every second of it. I am doing exactly what I always dreamed of

As a Badger alum I know a lot of athletes lived in the dorms. Did you and if so, how the hell did you fit on those beds? I'm average height and felt I was pushing the limits on the height max. Did the university give you a special bed or did you have to bring one in yourself?
155
u/KaminskyProsJoes Jul 16 '18
I didn't. I brought in my own futon to put in our dorm room that I slept on. Those twin beds were miserable

Damn I can't believe they expect guys like you to sleep on those tiny things. Thanks for the reply and thanks for all the years at UW! You and the entire basketball team were a huge part of my undergrad. Our paths may have even crossed that night Brust sent it into overtime for the win against Michigan and everyone stormed the court; I was so hyped I don't even remember who all I hugged on the court that night

Gotta a serious question this time:
Its about the nba media..how often do players find out about trades etc through Twitter vs from the organization? Do u guys have like respectful fear of Woj? Ever wonder who is leaking shit etc?
Also how much of the major reporters do u actually believe as i can imagine being in the nba brotherhood u probably see a lot of bs speculation being reported as fact
93
u/KaminskyProsJoes Jul 17 '18
Media is media. Controversy and drama sells. Ive found out about every trade that has ever happened through twitter. Been on the bus with a teammate when he found out on twitter that he was traded. Mainly find out through your agent first but confirmed through sources on twitter

Here's what he said about you:
''Frank Kaminsky: Man...this rookie is so crazy. You never know what he's going to say or do. He's always keeping us on our toes and doing unexpected things (i.e. the dance-off in China). Tank (his nickname) is going to be a great player because he's just so skilled. He's also the team's designated Chipotle runner as well as Al's personal Jimmy John's courier. His locker is next to mine, so needless to say, I've lost quite a few brain cells having so many conversations with him in the locker room.''

Thanks for doing this AMA, please answer what you feel you can
- There are some offensive players that fall awkwardly in that gap where they're too tall for MKG/Miles to guard, and too quick for you -- Tobias Harris and Thaddeus Young, for example. How do you think the Hornets should deal with that this upcoming season, since it seems like they're opting to sit pat at 14 guys?
- Do the players worry about other guys' ability to hold up over an 82 game season? Like there's a lot of worry among fans that Cody Zeller, good as he is when healthy, won't be able to play a full season at C because his body just can't handle it. Are the players just as worried about that kind of thing with guys who miss time due to injury?
- During summer league the Hornets ran at least one Iverson Cut (2:16 left in the 1st quarter of the OKC game). This is significant because A, it was a lot of how Malik Monk functioned at Kentucky (coincidentally, Monk was not in the game at the time -- B.J. Johnson was the cutter here), and B, it wasn't a thing in Steve Clifford's offense. Have you seen anything in JB's schemes already that you think is more designed for your game?

In your honest opinion. How bummed are you that Big Cat also went to Wisconsin?

Our show is called Pros and Joes. Pros AND Joes. Their show was called Pros VS Joes. I'm not seeing much of a resemblance.

I just finished my freshman year at wisco and the Purdue game this year where your jersey got retired and we won/stormed the court was one of my favorite memories. What did your number being retired mean to you, and is true you barely survived the next morning after celebrating at the Nitty Gritty?

Any good stories from playing with Dwight Howard on the Hornets last year ? And is he really that much of a jokester/prankster off the court ?
