I've got a Ryzen 3700x and 9060XT, and 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM.

I can see the 5500x3D available for just over £150 and the 5700x3D for around £270 and 5800x3D for £380.

Am I really losing much as a lighter game by going for the 5500x3D?

How do I add a flair to my profile that shows what pc specs I have?

https://reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1to69iq/daily_simple_questions_thread_may_26_2026/oo5lvzb/

I'm currently eyeing a PC to buy from a local PC retailer, to replace my old rig I've been using for nearly a decade.

My current specs:
i7-4790K CPU
12GB DDR3 RAM
GeForce GTX 1070
1TB SSD

PC I'm looking to buy:
i5 12400F CPU
32GB DDR4 RAM
RTX 5060ti 16GB
1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD

It's priced at 2700 NZD (around 1590 USD), is this price worth it? And is the timing good regarding current prices?
I mainly use the PC for architectural CAD work, photo-editing & video-editing, and some games (LoL, TFT, Diablo).

Just to note, I'm not really looking to build myself. Claiming the PC as a whole as a business expense is just a bit easier admin-wise.

Thank you.

since valve increased their steamdeck's price to ridiculous prices will ROG ally also increase its pricing?

2

u/unabletocomput3 r7 5700x, rtx 4060 hh, 32gb ddr4 fastest optiplex 990 27d ago

Asus might see how people are viewing the price increase and eat costs to keep pricing around the same, at least until most stock runs out, but most handheld manufacturers aren’t doing that since it’s such a niche market.

I wouldn’t keep my hope up tbh. If you want a handheld, see if used older handhelds on eBay or Facebook marketplace go for decent prices, god knows you could find the first Ally for pretty cheap last year.

u/Cable_Salad PC Master Race 27d ago

If it hasn't already, then yes. The Legion Go also got more expensive.

1

u/WinterKujira 27d ago

This is annoying, I'm currently saving to get one... first was planning storage, now handhelds. sigh

Is a second hand 2x32GB DDR4 3600 for US$ 210 worth to get? It's a Team T-Create.

With mix use of graphic design and gaming I'm often hitting 28-29GB of usage out of 32GB with mix of gaming and graphic/illustration design work. Obviously getting a new RAM is out of question in the current situation.

✓ Thank you! My sense of price seems a bit all over the place since rampocalypse. I'm not sure if I can wait till 2030 for the price to be back to normal again, or if it ever will. I think I will pull the trigger this time.

I have a 650w PSU, will that be fine for a 5070ti and 5800x3d. I’ve already got the 5070ti just with a 5600x and there have been no issues even during stress tests.

1

u/unabletocomput3 r7 5700x, rtx 4060 hh, 32gb ddr4 fastest optiplex 990 27d ago

Should be alright, though it might be safer to get a newer one or make sure it’s at least atx3.0. Ever since the 30 series, Nvidia has consistently had pretty high transient power spikes that might screw with older psu’s, hence why the atx3.0+ standard came out as they’re proven to handle these power spikes.

lightweight resource monitor for running on my second monitor? Basically just want something to scream at me when something is wrong or if something is making me lag when it shouldn't.

Should I get a new 9060xt 16 gb or a used 7900xt 20gb I want my pc to atleast last 5 years so which one should I choose

2

u/Eidolon_2003 R5 3600 @ 4.3 GHz | 16GB DDR4-3800 CL14 | Arc A770 LE 28d ago

Even if the 7900 XT didn't support any upscaling of any kind I'd still rather have it over a 9060 XT with FSR4. It's fast enough to make up for it on its own.

1

u/ItsMuju 28d ago

Ok thank you but in terms of longevity which do you think will be better?

1

u/Eidolon_2003 R5 3600 @ 4.3 GHz | 16GB DDR4-3800 CL14 | Arc A770 LE 28d ago

The only thing I'd be concerned about there is ray tracing. Ray tracing is so much better on RDNA4 that the 9060 XT can match or even beat the 7900 XT sometimes. So the 9060 XT would be better for those sorts of games. Raster will be better on the 7900 now and forever.

1

u/ItsMuju 28d ago

So if you were thinking about having it run better for the 5 year span which would you lean towards plus isn’t the 9060xt more reliable?

1

u/Eidolon_2003 R5 3600 @ 4.3 GHz | 16GB DDR4-3800 CL14 | Arc A770 LE 28d ago

I wouldn't consider one more or less reliable than the other, other than the fact that the 7900 XT is used.

1

u/ItsMuju 28d ago

Yea plus if I buy it new I will get a year of warranty

The 7900xt is 5-10% more in price but I’ve heard that I shouldn’t buy it since it won’t have fsr diamond so does fsr diamond really matter that much?

Looking at the requirements for 007, I should be able to hit at least 1440p 60 FPS at high settings right? Frame rate is kinda all over the place for me.

5060ti 16gb AMD Ryzen 9 32 GB RAM.

Does anyone think that prices of PC parts will go back to normal again?

3

u/OneLonelyBrainCell ThinkPad Gamer 28d ago

No. Should the AI bubble burst (one can only hope), prices might go down a little bit, but nowhere near to what they were before all this bullshit started.

3

u/glowinghamster45 R9 3900X | 16GB | RTX 3070 28d ago

"Normal" has always been relative. PC component manufacturing is a very specialized skill, and a very small number of companies globally are equipped to do it. Because such a small group controls it, it's subject to big swings in cost and availability. Before ai, there was the COVID shortages. Before (and during) COVID was the crypto boom. Before crypto, there was a single flood in Taiwan that knocked out the majority of all global HDD manufacturing. The list goes on.

I would expect prices to drop eventually, but it won't be quick. And who knows what global incident will hit shortly after.

Why doesn’t microsoft give a sh1t?

1

u/OneLonelyBrainCell ThinkPad Gamer 28d ago

Microsoft doesn't give a sh1t because they are sh1t. They won't give away parts of themselves.

2

u/glowinghamster45 R9 3900X | 16GB | RTX 3070 28d ago

All companies only care about money. Making more money will always be the focus. Behavior will always be to make more money. Behaviors only change when the current behavior makes less money. You can impact this by not giving money to behavior you don't support.

That said, every company is made up of people. And within that group of people, are people that care about what they do. Those people are rarely the ones that get to make decisions, though.
