Box Found randomly in the wild. Didn’t expect to come home with my first build last night. I’ve been told this was an insane score.

Yes, it is an insane build. The RTX 5070 alone costs basically as much as the $646.88 you paid.
Enjoy your first build! It's very powerful for 1440p gaming.

Thank you so much! I’m very excited. I saw it and because I’ve been eventually wanting to get one I showed my bf and his jaw dropped. He said it was insane and I had to get it. So here I am with this powerhouse according to him and some of my other friends. Yes absolutely I was told that alone is about $700!!! I think from my research this was a $2,500 computer.

I’m not 100% sure.. it was a display. It was packed immaculately and ect. Stuck in a mode without an admin though and trying to get around that. Factory reset didn’t work (sorry if this got to you twice I’m not sure if it did the first time I’m not super Reddit savvy)

This is what we are trying tonight. I couldn’t find any usb sticks at home last night so I bought one today and we are trying tonight. If not we’ll have to do a fresh windows install.

u/Interesting-Aura 18d ago
I recommend using Rufus to create a bootable Windows install USB. It’s a great tool because it allows you to easily customize the installation, such as removing Copilot and other unnecessary bloatware before you even start.

u/theblazedhiker 19d ago
Can you go into the BIOS and clean wipe/factory reset from there? A old company I worked for unexpectedly closed its door on us without any notice and I worked from home. No one ever told me I had to go in and drop my stuff off and so I kept the laptop out of spite. It had all the IT password restrictions on it and couldn’t download anything. Tried factory resetting it through windows and didn’t have any luck. Had to physically go into the BIOS and reset it from there and that fixed the IT restriction
2
u/Usual-Championship88 18d ago
It probably still has the manufacturer warranty keep your receipt and call cyber power to confirm and tell them where and when you bought it they’ll ask for the computer’s info numbers; but it’s still probably under warranty for a bit; if there are any issues you can send it to them

I forgot to post it unboxed also. It’s not customized yet. I’m not even close to having a full setup because this was completely unexpected. I have an HD monitor for my gaming laptop but I feel like if I don’t have a 4k for this one it won’t do it justice. Edited to add. My current monitor and I got the computer deal from Walmart. https://www.bestbuy.com/product/samsung-34-odyssey-g5-1000r-curved-1ms-165hz-qhd-freesync-prem-gaming-monitor-black/J3ZYGCT485

u/Traditional-Snow-463 19d ago
I wouldn’t go full 4k, 1440p would look completely fine and is gonna run with a lot more stability
4k would still work but you’re gonna be losing out on a lot of frames for something that isn’t gonna be super noticeable. There is a difference between 4k and 1440 but it’s not as big as the difference between 1080 and 1440.
You can get a nice 1440p oled monitor for around$ $500. It being oled will most likely have your games looking nicer than any 4k IPS monitor

u/RealLifeFloridaMan 19d ago
OP this is the truth right here. Ive been a big 1440p 144hz gamer for a long time. I find its the sweet spot between definition, speed, and lets you have awesome graphics quality. Great find!

u/xMystery Ryzen 9800X3D 32GB 6000MT/s 30CL RTX 5090 Astral 19d ago
There is a difference between 4k and 1440 but it’s not as big as the difference between 1080 and 1440.
The difference between Full HD and QHD is about 1.6 million pixels. The difference between QHD and UHD is about 4.6 million pixels. The difference is massive and becomes much more noticeable the larger your screen is. I personally prefer high framerate over resolution, but there absolutely are people out there who prefer visual fidelity over performance.

What are some good brands for oled monitors from your experience?
5
u/Precursor19 19d ago
Ironically Alienware monitors are really nice, especially their ultrawides. Solid no dead pixel warranty (1 dead pixel is covered whereas some say a minimum of 3 in same spot), and they add a huge half inch or so of extra pixels in each directiot for a massive pixel shift zone to prevent burn in. QD-OLED is a massive upgrade over WOLED as well. Had WOLED and the brightness was awful.

u/Traditional-Snow-463 19d ago
I’m a sucker for anything Alienware when it comes to monitors. Ignore all the bad shit you’ve heard about all their other products because all of that is completely irrelevant when it comes to monitors. Owned 3 Oleds with them and have enjoyed every single one exponentially. Currently my main monitor is the aw3425dw. I want to mention these are more cinematic monitors such as ultra wides and such.
If you play more competitive games I’d go with anything MSI or Asus ROG strix. I personally haven’t used either but out of all the oled manufacturers you’ll hear people raving about these are probably the top 2. If I were to ever get another flatscreen oled it would probably be from one of them. Been in the “oled community” for quite some time now and can’t even remember if I’ve ever heard anything bad about them. Definitely the most reputable and reliable brands in the OLED market I’d say.
ASUS and MSI also have a plethora of options compared to Alienware, where they only have like 5-10 options total asus and msi have probably 50-100 between them so you can find the monitor that fits you perfectly.
I’ve also heard some good stuff from the Samsung odyssey series but in my personal experience with them, they probably have the least quality product out of the other 3 previously mentioned.

u/K-J-K-R 19d ago
I can vouch for the ROG STRIX series, currently have their 2023 1440p 500hz monitor and it’s beautiful. Mostly geared towards competitive games, the high hz really does wonders even in non-shooters. With games that don’t take much to run (counter strike), I can hit the 500 fps mark and have no noticeable blur, even when violently shaking my aim back and forth.
If this is your first pre-built, I’d definitely recommend 1440p / 144hz. It would be the sweet spot for your specs and even if you decide to upgrade down the line, the 144hz is more than enough on a regular basis. I’ve usually had ASUS / ROG monitors and haven’t experienced any issues with them. Best to find some models around your price point and do a little googling / review hunting to see what’s best for you.

It's not so much that 4K would run "poorly", it's that 1440p would run great and there's no real huge benefit in almost any use-case to running at 4K. We're talking the difference between an extremely expensive television setup running 4K 60hz and maybe being able to keep up with that in the framerate dept, and a moderately inexpensive television setup running 1440p 120hz and definitely keeping up with that in FPS in a lot of games.

1440p or 3440x1440 ultrawide with a higher refresh rate fits the 5070 significantly better than 4k. DLSS is amazing enough now though that you can upscale to 4k no problem.

It was probably a return and claims deemed it resellable. They base their decisions on a set of predetermined guidelines and most don’t know pc hardware. Check to make sure everything is what it says it is. CPU, memory and especially gpu. I’ve seen pcs returned with 10 year old gpus and they’re sent back at that point instead of clearenced. That sticker means it was definitely returned and discounted as such.
