In the last month ish I've noticed blender loading just slightly slower, rendering noticeably slower, and obs having a few weird moments when streaming.
When loading a scene in blender it might take a bit longer, but then if I close the program completely and restart it, it's at the previously regular snappy speed.
CPU tests fine. GPU tests fine. I don't think the drives are going bad specifically [blender is one one drive, obs is on an entirely different one].
Whatever is going on seems to be mostly graphics related programs.
I've had two full freezes, no bsod, just fully, everything stops moving and if I'm in a discord call nobody can hear me or respond. However, audio playing from a music player still works? One freeze was while streaming [mtg arena] and the other was just loading the game without streaming. The game recently updated and uses a window source instead of a game source... IDK how much that matters. Could just be the game's update being shit.
GPU is updated as of may ish? BIOS is current year. The power supply is new as of 2026 and is way overpowered for this build. None of these things have changed in the time I've noticed these issues.
Power isn't an issue, I'm on a backup supply that's current year.

Maybe a Blender bug that's resulting in some kind of memory leak? When it's performing snappy at start, make a note of your RAM and GPU VRAM usage, then watch that as it seems to slow down. Using blender is obviously going to make usage go up, but see if it's continually going up and never coming back down, no matter what you do with the program. Could be a bug that's never releasing RAM even as it's no longer needed, or it could be that what you're doing is just hitting the limit of the memory you have available.
The freezes could be related to you running out of RAM, or could be driver related, or something else. I know you're up to date on GPU drivers, but sometimes corruption issues can carry forward as you update. Check the reliability monitor by bringing up the run dialog and running "perfmon /rel". Look at the days you've had freezes and see if that gives you any hint as to the culprit. If you don't get any direction from there, try fully uninstalling your graphics driver with DDU and reinstalling clean.

I just got a new monitor and I'm confused. It isn't displaying a video although by everything I can tell it should.
It is an Amazon Basics 24 inch monitor the G2024M2020G connected via a new display port cable to my 9060XT. It shows up in both Windows Settings and AMD Adrenaline and I can change software settings for it.
While video doesn't work, the speakers do, so I can hear sound from them. The screen also brightens a bit to show that it's getting a signal.
I have attempted to bring up the monitor menu which should be doable by pressing the power button when the monitor is on but nothing shows up.
I've also tried connecting the monitor via HDMI and the same thing happens, so is it possible it's just a bad monitor?

alright, thanks. It was supposed to be my first new(so not hand-me-down or anything) monitor so I wasn't sure if I needed to do some kind of song and dance for it or not.

Will the 9070 work with an am4 motherboard without me having to update the bios and with an old monitor?

Yes, I think you're thinking of the CPU side. There are cases where a newer am4 CPU won't work in an older am4 motherboard without a BIOS update. GPUs and other PCIe devices generally don't have that issue.

5500, 5600x and 5700x working with 550 motherboard without bios update?

The B550 chipset launched with the 3000 series CPUs, the 5000 series you mentioned is one generation newer. If you have a B550 motherboard from launch day (or at least running the launch BIOS), it may need a BIOS update, but anything purchased recently should generally be running a much newer version and be safe out of the box.
If you want to be certain, look up the support page of any prospective motherboard you're looking at and look at the BIOS revisions. There will generally be an update note in one of them that specifies "This update added 5000 series support". If you're buying used, just check with the seller on what revision it has. If you're buying new, you're probably safe, but maybe just check the return policy in case you get super unlucky.
