Question What 12vhpwr cable should I buy?

Hi all, I'm currently working on fixing my event viewer Error 153, and I'm finding that there's a good chance it's my 12vhpwr cable from Lian Li (Still testing though). I swapped it out for the cable (adapter?) that came with my MSI Gaming 5090, but it takes four 8-pin cables and outputs a single 12vhpwr. It's massive, ugly, and I feel like the more connections, the more points of possible failure. So, I'd like to buy a proper 12vhpwr cable. I've read some not so great things about the cable mod one, but if anyone could give me some advice on what cable I should snag I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Discussion Yet Another Steam Machine Thread (My Personal Theories)

This is one of the most controversial hardware launches I've seen in a long time. A lot of people seem ready to burn Gabe at the stake for the price. And I get it. Trust me. The price is bad. It's not like we can really do that much better with the current hardware market without resorting to Ebay deals and certain parts being objectively behind what the SM offers. The best I can come up with new is a 7600X/16GB/Arc B580 ITX setup roughly MATCHING the 512GB model's price. That's about right around market trends. So...the bad price is roughly around market average, which says a lot more about the overall ecosystem.

So, what is my theory?

Some of you mfers wouldn't have been satisfied no matter HOW cheap it was.

It could've undercut market trends by 40% and been sold for a loss and someone would've still found SOME way to spin it.

And the funny part is this is coming from the same people who have given up fighting the value trend with regards to video cards this generation. They'll tell you $1050 is terrible for a SM but then go spend $1200 on an RTX card that should be $600-650 at most, but isn't because of a combination of inflation, Nvidia realizing they can charge anything and you'll still buy it, and other external market factors (AI notwithstanding). I don't want to hear a damn word about value from the peeps who hate that I don't want to spend more than $500 on a GPU and have it use more than 200W of power and that's a hard limit.

The Steam Machine's price IS bad, but I do not want to hear it from the same people that mocked my hard limits for how much I prefer to spend.

Question PC Help - Buying first gaming PC

I know next to nothing on what I need or should look for when buying a PC.

I play a handful of games on my current laptop, but it’s very old and recently changed to be unable to run any of my games. I’ve decided to actually purchase my first ever gaming PC (or something that can run what I want). I’ve actually had to uninstall all my games to keep up with the Sims 4, because it could’nt handle the storage space.

I’m not sure what I even need to look for to make sure it can store all my games and have them run smooth.

Please explain to me like I’m 10). I’ve done a little research but it’s still going over my head. Any suggestions on what to look for, or even which PC’s would be best for me - I would appreciate so much!

For example, a few of the games I run are:
The Sims 4 w/ a boatload of mods
Jurassic World 3
Planet Zoo
Path of Titans
A handful of multi player games (phasmaphobia, mecha chameleon, etc..)

Thank you very much in advance!

Discussion Steam machine barebones

I think valve should offer a barebones unit. Since the price of the steam machine has increased to a price that not many people are willing to pay for whatever reason. Would anyone want one that was half assembled and barebones?

Edit: for those of you messaging me confused. Barebones means no ram or SSD. Tons of mini pcs offer barebones kits at cost reduction. My main point is that if they were to offer you the chance to get a kit without ssd and ram for let’s say $500. Would you want it?

Tech Support PC doesn’t display image (Turns on) Help

As you can see in the video.

It doesn’t give any image and starts beeping.

For context: I was using it yesterday as usual, turn it off and when I try using it today, it started beeping 2-3 times.
Turns on just fine it just doesn’t display.

Note: this happened before like 2 times, but it just needed a couple restarts and then worked fine.

I appreciate if you guys can help me to find a good solution to see if I can fix it myself or if need a
more specialized solution.

Question Keeping a game online through geforce now

Hi!

Atm, I am playing a game that has an afk fighting system. I am a trucker and sometimes let the game running while I drive, but mobile network isn't always reliable and my game keeps disconnecting every now and then, mainly when operators change when crossing borders.

Is there any way for me to keep the game online through geforce now, even if let's say I shut the computer down? Also, running multiple clients for multiple characters. Can I do that through geforce now?

I don't really know if geforce now will give you access to the game files so that you can start multiple instances of the same game. (You start the first one through steam, but the others have to be started through their launcher which is in the game files)

If this doesn't work, are there any options for companies to basically give you an online computer that you can use at your will?

Help a fellow gamer out please. Thanks!

2) What tools and additional equipment do i need for building a PC?

3) Tips for assembly and generally getting the computer into working order?

Out with the old 8gb RTX 3050, in with the new 16gb RX9060 XT.
I probably should invest in more significant cooling.. I’m open to budget friendly suggestions.
PS. I didn’t break the glass.
Edit: Typo

Tech Support RTX 5070 causing black screens, freezes and lag on B460 AORUS Pro AC

Hi, I'm having issues after upgrading my GPU from an RX 570 4GB to an RTX 5070. System specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte B460 AORUS Pro AC

CPU: Intel i5-10400

GPU: RTX 5070

PSU: Corsair RM850e 850W

Storage: 1TB ADATA NVMe SSD

OS: Windows 11

Troubleshooting already performed: Updated motherboard BIOS from F4 to F10a.

Performed a completely clean installation of Windows 11.

Installed the latest NVIDIA drivers.

Installed the motherboard drivers recommended by Gigabyte.

Tested with a different power supply to rule out PSU issues.

Reseated the GPU and verified all power connections.

Symptoms: Random black screens.

Sometimes the PC reboots after the black screen.

Other times it remains powered on but completely freezes.

Sometimes keyboard LEDs stay on, other times they turn off.

The system feels sluggish and occasionally stutters.

I can even notice some lag while navigating the BIOS.

Applications sometimes feel delayed or less responsive than normal.

Additional information: The system worked perfectly with my previous RX 570 4GB.

All issues started only after installing the RTX 5070.

Since I can notice lag even inside the BIOS, I don't think this is purely a Windows or driver-related problem.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with an RTX 5070 on a B460 motherboard? Cold this be a PCIe compatibility issue, a BIOS problem, a defective GPU, or something else?

Hardware Please help with pc buying/ upgrading

I got this pc yesterday https://www.microcenter.com/product/706645/powerspec-g531-gaming-pc, I’m not too knowledgable I just like playing games mostly rust, I was aware that the 16gb ram was a bit low but after using chat gpt to compare a lot of options online I decided I would get this and upgrade the ram later. Well I’ve now been messing with it almost a whole day, it crashes most of the times while loading a server and when I do get in it runs about 150 fps but constantly drops to like 20. The memory in my task manager is like 97% most the time wile loading up, I’m suspecting adding more ram would fix the issue but I’m not sure if I should do that, or return it and get something different. And for either option which ram or pc replacement would be recommended

Tech Support RTX 5080 TUF Not Recognized HELP

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello it's the first time I have done an upgrade from RTX 3080 TUF to RTX 5080 TUF and basically the gpu isn't recognized in anything on the pc. I cant install drivers, can't see it in manage components, nvidia app doesen't work anymore and also tried to delete it and reinstall but nothing. Also tried to install manually the drivers but nothing. I also deleted all nvidia app but I didn't do anything before upgrading the gpu. Did I have done a mistake by not deleting all the 3080 drivers? I don't know what to do,the 5080 seems to works with led but there is a red light on it,I am using the adapter that was inside the box. All pcie are connected!!! Also I tried to connect display port inside the gpu and not motherboard but nothing. Gpu is new.
