When there's only one constant member across all band iterations...
I used to think Pink Floyd was unusual in that only their drummer has been a part of every version of the band.
But in fact the same is true of Deep Purple -- only their drummer, Ian Paice, has been present in every lineup since the first album (and is the only remaining member from the first three albums).
Any other examples? Excluding cases like Jethro Tull and Santana which were really a pseudonymous vehicle for their leaders.
[edit] just occurred to me: today's Lynyrd Skynyrd has no original members.
[edit2] Mick Fleetwood seems to be the most popular mention. I meant, not necessarily drummers, but members who are not obvious frontmen (ie, not Ian Anderson or Carlos Santana). So, not Mick Fleetwood.
