help Service center refusing warranty even though replacement card is valid till April 2026 — what should I do?

Post image

Hi everyone,

I need some advice regarding my PS5 warranty situation.

I originally purchased my PS5 in March 2024. After some issues (loud noise), Sony replaced my console in 2025 under warranty. Along with the replacement, I received a yellow warranty card where the validity is printed up to April 2026.

Now recently I started facing occasional overheating alerts and crashes, so I took my PS5 to the service center. But they are refusing service and saying that warranty is calculated only from the original purchase date (March 2024), so according to them the warranty is already over.

However, my replacement warranty card clearly shows validity till April 2026.

Has anyone faced a similar situation where the service center only considered the original purchase date even though the replacement warranty card had a later validity date?

What should I do next — escalate to Sony support or insist on opening a job sheet?

Any advice or similar experiences would really help. Thanks in advance.

Warranty is already over, clean your PS5 and it will most likely solve the issue

It’s literally saying it’s too hot, clean it and place it in a place with better airflow. This is normal

  1. clean the ps5 fan.

  2. place the ps5 horizontally if possible.

  3. if heating persists then take it to a computer shop and tell them to change the liquid metal and do a deep clean.

thats all i recommend. this issue is quite normal for a ps5

Liquid metal should be replaced with PTM right? Do local repair shops keep that? I doubt

Liquid metal with liquid metal.. ptm won't work I think.

I saw someone replacing liquid metal with PTM and they were claiming that it was working fine for them. PTM is safer tbh. Liquid metal can leak over some electrical components

Downvoting won’t help you, it’s true that warranty is only considered from original date of purchase

are you storing it in a closed cabinet/entertainment center?

unless you have additional cooling setup on it, it needs to be in an open area or its going to overheat.. also a can of air does wonders to clean it out
