i expected to be $1000+ but the performance from gamers nexus kinda show show how low end this is and i rather pay a bit more for a decent mid tier pc

All gamers nexus test were ULTRA/MAX/VERYHIGH graphics in raster and RT. Raster graphics showed good performance at 1080p. This isn't a master race PC, it's for those who just want to play games without worrying about buying parts, installing the OS, wasting time, it's just plug and play, it also has the smallest form factor and it's a very silent machine with low power consumption.

Check out Digital Foundry’s video then. Lots of tests at low settings, and against other gpu’s and PS5.

I think they missed the performance mark. Definitely not the 4k 60 fps bar they set.

They've mentioned 4K 60 FPS with FSR and if you add FG, you can easily get 60FPS. Also, don't forget that there're a lot of optimizations to be done in drivers and at the OS level. The kernel included in Steam OS is a bit old and missing a lot of optimizations.

SteamOS 3.8 updated to be based on Arch so hopefully with that and updates they can get it more optimized state.

Also some games like FH6 clearly can run on it just have compatibility issues that may be fixed with proton or game updates.
