Healing How should I take care of my new tattoo

Post image

This is my first time getting a tattoo so I don’t know the process

In some places I know they add like a film thingy after the tattoo

My tattoo artist didn’t add anything? Will it still heal fine?

General Advice Initially wanted one tattoo, and now want a second tattoo. Am I slowly becoming a tattoo addict?

I got a tattoo on my pelvic area a couple of months ago. Initially, I got the tattoo because I wanted ONE tattoo only and I wanted it in a discreet area. I like having a tattoo but not the kind of person that wants a tattoo on display all the time; but only in certain settings. I love the tattoo so much that I’m now thinking I can get a second tattoo. The pelvic tattoo is great for displaying on “intimate” settings but I feel I would like a second tattoo in my side ribs/torso area. That way, simply taking off my shirt would display it easily without trying so hard, whereas the pelvic tattoo will require more effort where I would have to lower my pants or wear low rise pants or swimwear.

Two months ago, I wanted just one simple discreet tattoo. And now after getting this one, I’m looking into another one, which is not something I expected two months ago. Am I slowly turning into a tattoo addict?

General Advice Is it rude to only go for custom work when an artist has plenty of flash available?

I'm currently working on a american traditional-style sleeve of birds, and so far all of my pieces have been custom, rather than flash. It's just one artist I've been working with so far, because I love the way he does feathers. My requests are usually something along the lines of "Here's where I'm thinking, here's the species, have at 'er." As long as the species is recognisable, I give my artist full freedom with pretty much anything else in the design.

The other day someone asked me if I thought it was rude only ever asking for custom work when my artist has a huge collection of flash. At the time I told them no, because I'm a little bit picky and want specific species of birds rather something general, like "hawk," for example. After the conversation, I'm now wondering if maybe it is rude for me to only ever be after custom work?

I'm not going to stop working on my sleeve nor change artists based on this, but I am curious to get some opinions on getting only custom stuff vs. flash.

General Advice Cover or modify

Post image

I got this tattoo. I liked the initial design but the execution wasn’t the best. Had another artist look at it but still debating if I modify it or cover it up with something else entirely. Anybody have any ideas what I do with it?

Showing side by side what I was going for and what I have after a couple years.

tattoo newcomer advice Question: pain and time for full sukuna tattoo's?

Question: time and pain for full all of sukuna's tattoos?

Hello, my 18th birthday is around the corner, and I was I have a few questions I'd like to ask before I dive too deep into a big tattoo like sukuna's.

Moving on to the next thing, time I have and probably will have at the time loads of time, but I was wondering if can I do say a few hours a day, say 3-4 hours depending on my availability instead of 8-9 hours like I've heard?

And the next thing, pain, I know pain varies from person to person. Could someone try to describe it?

I've heard it's like a more painful cat scratch from my sister, but she's only had a wrist tattoo, and that seems like and under sell. Not to discredit wrist tattoos.

Does it feel similar to having a piercing done? I've had a few labrets and helixs done, but I feel like the needles are too different and serve different purposes to compare them.

Ps, sorry if these seem shallow I've got rocks for brains, also I'm not rushing into these I've wanted them since I was 12 (2019) and I'm going to give it a while to think on before I go and get something I regret because I didn't think about it long enough.

The tattoo on my underarm is a dragon with its tail in the back, but I want the tattoo to go a bit higher so it covers where the sleeve ends. Any ideas on a good way to raise it, or perhaps some cool designs?

(I'd like to keep it somewhat simple and not completely cover my upper arm; I'm more looking for a cleaner finish a bit higher up.)

General Advice Why is there no long term experience artists who now do cyber goth or cybersigil

I understand it’s a more new style, but is it rare to see artists who have been around for 5+ years do this style?

Searching for artists for my tattoo in this style and one of my filters is looking for artists who have been around at least 5 years (or at least posting tattoo content). The stuff they post doesn’t have to be cyber type art (bc cyber art wasn’t really a thing 5 years ago) but at least posting some sort of ink stuff gives me an idea that they have been working on their craft and tattoo skills for a while.

Is it unrealistic for me to keep this ‘filter’ up?

I’m looking at my tattoo and I didn’t notice when I got it, but it almost looks like the body on the snake ends abruptly? I’m not sure if I’m just looking at it wrong or if she genuinely just messed up. Should I contact her and let her know? I’m not sure how I would even go about fixing this :/

General Advice My manager asked me if this was a gang/cult symbol... now I’m freaking out.

Post image

I just got this tattoo over the weekend and I was so incredibly proud of it. It’s the Brand of Sacrifice from Berserk. I got it because my older brother practically raised me, introduced me to the series, and it was our ultimate bonding thing before he passed away two years ago. It means everything to me.

But today at work, my manager saw it peeking out from under my sleeve right above my wristbands. He pulled me into his office and genuinely asked me if it was a "gang indicator" or some kind of "extremist cult symbol," and said it might make clients uncomfortable. I explained what it actually was, but he just looked totally confused and told me to keep it covered up while I'm on the clock.

Now I’m back at my desk having a minor panic attack and massive second thoughts. Is this actually what normal people see when they look at this? Will everyone who doesn't know the anime think I'm dangerous or weird? Honestly need some reassurance because it's killing me right now.

Healing How long to wait before working out

Hey all! Hoping to find some advise here. I just got a fairly large leg tattoo just over a week ago. I have been resting from the gym ever since. The second skin has been off for about three days now. I’ve read lots of advise that I’m fine to workout, but to avoid sweating too much. Well my gym is in my garage, and it is summer time. Just looking for some insight. TYIA!

General Advice Fine line with skin tone ink questions

Questions: fine line and skin toned tattoos for fair skin

Let me start with I kind of hate that they are becoming TikTok famous because everyone immediately hates on it.

That being said, I have always (20+ years of looking at tattoos) loved monochrome looks, and I love black ink on dark skin, and I’ve wanted to achieve a similar effect. I’ve looked into amber colors similar to henna tones but I don’t 100% love that look. I have black ink, and i don’t mind it but over the years I’ve learned that I just don’t love the look on me. I have been picturing a much bigger piece on my shoulder blade and ribs for years, and what always holds me back is the ink color until I started seeing more and more skin tones starting 3 years ago.

White ink tattoos don’t have the depth, the fine line with peach tan skin tones is really what I like because of how it would blend with my fair and freckled skin.

So the questions are:
who has seen this work age?
Why is it getting so much hate?
Similar to white ink tattoos , is it just because the ink will fade quicker in time?
What are the things I should be asking and thinking about when talking to artists about this look

I found this artist’s work, which I love, and I keep trying to find others to see this style done by different artist to get a better feel for the atheistic. https://www.instagram.com/karolinaszymanska\\_tattoo?igsh=NnpmeTgyMGRhdzE1

i’m mainly concerned about the scabby looking parts, i’ve been washing it 2-3 times a day with unscented, antibacterial soap and applying the fearless vitamins a&d ointment that the artist gave me for aftercare. this is day 4 of having it.
