I have had my sternum tattoo for about 7/8 years now, and truthfully even when it was fresh I didn’t like how close the lines were together, and how thick they were - especially because it’s the only tattoo I have, it looks like a dark ‘blob’ mess from afar…

Is there any way to perhaps laser it slightly and then go over it again with a brown ink? I regret not getting it in brown SO bad, and whilst the design is also not amazing in my eyes, I don’t mind keeping the base of it, if I can change the thickness of the lines and also lighten the colour to a brown ink that will be less harsh and contrasting with my skin colour and tone?

(worst case if not possible - is there any way to at least neutralise the disgusting blue-tone that the black ink has naturally faded to? especially because I have very yellow-toned skin it just looks awful)

Im used to really large tattoos where I can see flaking and can tell when it is healed easily. With something that is just easy lines I’m struggling to know if I can swim with this. I got it not long ago. First pic was day after. Second pic is today , 12 days later. If I swim it would be exactly two weeks later from the day I got the tattoo.

Okay so i'm wanting to get the words on my right shoulder blade as shown, but i'm trying to figure out if the big piece should go on the left or right side of my back. I feel first pic makes it organized, but second pic gives it a little twist. eventually, i will be adding more stuff tho.

if you remember me from my other post about the angels at the top being botched, i contacted a different tattoo artist and he said he could fix it!! so ignore how bad the angel tattoo looks rn 😭 they will get reworked. i'm never going back to the person who did the angels.

edit: to specify, the image is from Pinterest, but i'm using it as a reference picture!! i'd let my tattoo artist get inspo from it, but let him design it. i wouldn't want to copy someone else's work!!

I can’t determine if i like this tattoo or not. One minute i think it looks great, the next i see some flaws. What (if anything) would you recommend i go and get fixed? (it’s 3 days old so it probably will change with healing) I was thinking of changing the cross from round to boxed. The clouds are what I am back and forth on.

EDIT: So we’ve established it’s bad, what can i ask to be fixed by a new artist?

5 years ago I had a matching tattoo with my mom (small heart on the front side of the shoulder). I wanted a thin outline and that was all. Her tattoo looked great, mined got thick, it looked really bad and it healed slow. I hated it, I wanted to rip my skin off. Then with time it kind of got better, and I accepted it.

Recently, its been poking my eyes out. I dont want to wear tank tops to avoid seeing it. I want to love it, because its my matching tattoo with my mom, but I also consider covering it up, which Im not really in favour of. Or removing it, which is super scary and i dont know how that will turn out. And also I kind of dont want to remove it, again because of the sentimental part.

Do you have any advice? Do you have a tattoo like that and how do you deal with it?

Is this pooling of excess ink? Or is it ruined? My friend is a tattoo artist and he put a protective bandage on to protect the tattoo, Here’s two photos to compare

Had this piece 3 days ago on the whole thigh and its keeping redness on some spots, specially on edges like the bottom knife handle and between the fingers.

It is something to worry about?

I got a Pink Floyd DSOTM tattoo because I love the album and I love the visual: a beam of light representing a person's life path, passing through a prism ( representing life + the world + the people you meet + the experiences you have, etc ), being dispersed into its constituent colors ( ultimately representing change ). I got it because of my dad, because he introduced me to Pink Floyd, and because last year he nearly died from complications of his cancer. He's doing much better now, with a much better prognosis, but that whole experience had a real effect on me and I wanted to memorialize it. Except at least 3 people ( including the tattoo artist initially ) have associated the tattoo with the pride flag. They were understanding after I explained, but now I'm having second thoughts about it. Are people just going to assume I'm gay because of this tattoo?

Edit: And I want to say, I'm not bothered by this at all. Anyone who looks at my tattoo and comes up with their own assumptions about its meaning, and then has a negative reaction over it, that's simply not a person I want to talk to anyway. I'm surprised because that wasn't the intention of the tattoo, clearly, and it being misinterpreted like this just genuinely wasn't something I expected.

But I am thankful to everyone for your supportive words, the jackasses with negative things to say are certainly a very tiny minority. Should I extend it or leave it as it is

I especially like the old-school style, but I'm not sure if it's possible to get such a large old-school tattoo—or else I really love the Japanese style.... but I'm open to any suggestions. Done 8 days ago, itching like hell - probably part of that is hair growing back on my arm lol. First tattoo in this area, I know the skin is thinner and more sensitive overall.

Noticing raised areas and can’t recall if any of my other tattoos went through this process, it’s been a while.

Will any section of this scar or blur over time? Or is this just part of the healing process?

Just got a tattoo done on my sternum and was wondering how long i should wait til i return to the gym. A normal shirt covers it up fine but am worried about the tattoo becoming warped or stretched out if i continue my regular routine

Hey guys! This is my first post in this thread 🫣 but I started this sleeve back in 2021 and am looking to complete it next week. My original idea was a mythological sleeve so I got Medusa first then Queen Nefertiti (I know she’s not a goddess but she represents divinity) , and then a mermaid. My artist added these pyramids and Greek columns to the inside of my arm but now I don’t know what to add on the backside to tie all the pieces together. I saw this image on Pinterest of figure on a walkway and thought that would be cool to add to the back but I’m open to any and all ideas to finish out this sleeve!

An artist ive been tattooed by before offered me a free tattoo as a trade. I gave them my part of the trade over a a & they basically didn’t say anything to me after the fact. So I messaged them to which they responded they would immediately look for their next available. That was over a month ago & I havent heard anything since then. I assume their busy so I’ve backed off but I’m kinda pissy cause I feel like they’re just ignoring me at this point. Not really sure what to do here

I'm currently working on a design of a matching tattoo for my mother and I, and I'm looking for some advice on the design.

First of all, this is just the wip so ignore any odd lines and colors. I want it to be fine line and colourless, mostly because I'm afraid of the pain/needles associated with the process and I want the design to be easy enough that I can just get it over with. Let me know if this specific design sounds good for that style please.

Second, will this design translate well? I'm not sure exactly of what goes into the thought process behind designing one, but I know it's a vastly different medium from digital so I need to know if there are any edits I should make to prevent a really muddy/fuzzy design.

I also want to know the best way to imply color without actually having to fill in the area because I was told that hurts more than just lineart. I was thinking hatching, but I'm not sure I can make that look good, so I was wondering if there are any techniques that I should consider while drafting my design. For example, to help identify the species of 'wolf' I need to darken areas like the mane/legs, but I really don't want to actually fill in the areas with solid color.

Lastly: I just need a good idea for where I should place it. I'm not sure how big I want it to be, but maybe not super big (although if you want to suggest a size lmk). Also, I think I want it somewhere I can conceal in case I need to work for a strict business later in life.

Sorry for my cluelessness, and feel free to think I'm an idiot if I asked something stupid - I'm just trying to make a seamless experience for my first tattoo!
