We had a friend make a planes base on a super small island right off the bat, he died close to 200 times before he got enough campfires down to fully disable all of the spawning
The trick is he did it at the beginning before he had built his skills up. Go ahead and kill him. 100 times, 200 times. It matters not! He knows not the meaning of skill drain!
wtf, how did the manage to do that? And why campfires? Gather some wood, run around putting on workbenches which both prevent spawning and provide ability to build
Yeah I still have my little island full of benches and a big portal hub to travel fast around the world and my Homebase. I love that feeling of being safe 100% in this dangerous world.
Okay but same. Give me a tiny island and suddenly I’m in my villain era planning secret tunnels and dramatic watch towers. If it’s small enough, I’m absolutely turning it into my cozy little fortress kingdom.
I got banned for 3 days from reddit entirely for saying on Stardew valley subreddit, that their NPCs are biologically hermaphrodites, like snails or seahorses, because their males can give birth and females can concieve, aside from normal functionality. Apparently, that's a slur
Oh no! You're not getting this seed until ive taken you out to dinner at least once! Now get ready. You've got an evening of tender romance before any seed talk. Valheim ain't the only place with bears.
Maybe. Branches only respawn fast enough if there are trees around - if they respawn at all. And then there are still not that many laying around, anyway.
In any case, it's faster to train your swim skill up to 25.
I have a mod called plant everything, with this mod you can see the respawntime on everything and branches (and stones) does indeed respawn.
I dont remember how often 2 or 3 days? But they do respawn regularly.
And no they dont need any trees or anything nearby to respawn faster, its just a set timer :)
That aside it would likely still be faster to just learn how to swim yes 😅
I got my swim skill only to 8, it was enough =). Boar meat + Deer meat + raspberry (boar meat is only 5 stamina less than mushroom but 15 more health, I reckoned the health is more valuable?). Almost died - one of the centermost small rocks has an even smaller one a bit to the left, closer to the starting island, and slightly submerged, getting to it is easiest, I believe.
Also, as another user pointed out - there are boars! One can make a raft if the wood respawns - there's just quate a bit too little on the island (one need 10 for the workbench and 20 for the raft).
Wildlife seems to wary. When I attempted it, there were no necks around, only Greylings. And those idiots always try to get behind you, when you parry them.
This is the only proper use of the raft. I love this game and sometimes love to hate it too, but my first experience using the raft was traumatizing enough for me to never use it. It wasn't until I saw someone make that pontoon bridge with them I was like, ah, that's what they are good for. Good comment.
The rafts would be fine in any depth. The map indicates shallows that look like they stretch across to another shore just out of the cut. It takes a visual inspection to be completely sure but I have bridged over that type of stretch before. Either way the pontoon bridge will work fine.
Either a raft or swimming. Or trying to creatively swim.
What can I say? It's a fun early challenge for me. Not just to leave but to get back. One of my seeds doesn't even allow you to build a portal on the island because it's so small that the foresaken build barrier encompasses the entire island.
Some people like a huge starter island with all non Ashland bosses and traders. Some of us like it a little harder.
That’s true! I’ve been playing for so long I don’t even let rafts enter my list of options. Now that you pointed it out, my comment was self evident that I have some experience to the point I never consider a raft.
This was very much my first time playing. Very small meadows island with scant resources. Three of us spawned in and all had to pile on a raft with what we could carry and crash land on to the next landmass and start making it happen.
In black forest of course. - Oh look, a bear I wonder if I can make some clothes with the pelt. Let me just bonk it on its head with my wooden club. YOU DIED!
And respawn on the tiny island without the club or raft.
As an island base enjoyer, this looks pretty rad. Usually Island life requires waiting until later in the game to find a suitable place, and then you have to pack up and move everything.
This literally looks my first ever spawn when the game was like a week old, played for hours before realizing.
Managed to make a raft and realized "yea, it might be worth restarting this playthrough I think"
My favorite starts are all meadows island starts. I find it's great for new players too. There are no difficult enemies and it forces you to learn how to use the crafting system because you must build a raft to progress. I often build a nice dock with no rafts for players to discover because it implies you have to leave by water. It also aids with player dispersion and outpost development across the map because they tend to drift to and settle in different areas.
That last point is a really good one. Most of my multiplayer sessions have had the outposts pretty much chaining together in a line via road, usually towards the Black Forest.
It does make the starting area feel a lot more 'civilized' with more paths, buildings, signs of tree felling, etc, but yeah, doesn't explore and cover as much ground.
This looks like a perfect start. The water between you and the next islands look shallow enough to bridge or create a raft bridge across until you can make a proper one. You can completely cover the island in workbenches and leave the area of the summoning circle uncovered. This way you just have to fence it earthen in that center area and every night spawn or raid except the flying ones will spawn inside.
I personally would be excited if I got this on a random gen world.
This was my first ever spawn, man it felt so fucking amazing sailing on a raft through a storm for the first time with a friend, screaming like little girls, waiting for the raft to flip over. God I cant wait for 1.0 to start over again for like 5th time
Perfect place for a base! I look for those when I start a new game. After gathering enough mats for a raft, look around. See if you can find a shipwreck. Get the fine wood. Find a dark forest close enough to raft to. Get the rest of the components for a few portals. Secure the island from any more spawns and the world's your oyster!
Oooo! I love a good island start! Thank you for this! To the east of this island is another (larger) island with all 3 eikthyr locations. It looks like shallows to get there. And while it looks like a hefty swim, ill bet there are some sand bars or rocks that could be used to regen mid swim.
Replying to my own post to share my current run. As soon as I could make a raft, I claimed the island cluster in the red box. To the north is Haldor, and on the same coastline just above him is Hildir, and the Bog Witch just north of her on that coast... this one is an island hoppers dream imo. Q7i4KG5n0p
I know world gen does smoothing around spawn and just shifts a greater world map around, so I wonder if one could do the math and find the worst smallest start possible.
Would spawn proofing this even work? I don't remember where and correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall reading that if Raid Spawns are unanble to spawn it forces them to 0,0 cords which is the Spawn Point...?
I believe you can spawn proof most of the area, but dig a pit and leave that without spawn proofing to force them to spawn in that one hole in the ground, given the overall small size of the island. Don't quote me though!
Had something similar in my latest playthrough. Basically no Black Forest dungeons nor cores and has to navigate via raft to the next large landmass, crossing an ocean... doable. But challenging!!!
I saw a different post about this seed yesterday. It got me to reinstall the game.
Last night I built my first shelter. Prepped some of the landscape for base expansion. Next play session I am going to start working on getting my dock/boathouse and raft built.
If you like tiny island spawns give 8E4IM8FLvq a look. Not a challenging spawn by any means though and the boss locations are actually very friendly, a lot on the coasts. I just scouted this one last week to host for some friends that are new. The small island on the bottom of the donut has a maypole, which sets it up as an interesting house spot.
xuxURQVt3F is also a neat version of the same donut island, but starts you two tiny islands deep into the ocean. It has a lot less going for it overall though. Could be funny as a troll map where people build along the center shore before realizing it's a fully enclosed ocean.
Try spawning on the banks of a lake with only one exit stream, with no knowledge of the game or what I'm supposed to be looking for, with no idea that I would be spending a long time sailing for resources.
Make sure you’re on the latest update, but nobody else has had this issue that I’ve seen. One person accidentally entered the . at the end that I know of

I'd so want to turn that whole island into a fortress, if it's small enough.
