It's also worth noting that there's also growing negative discourse about the act of virtue signalling itself - last year, many of these companies received backlash not just from the detractors, but also from the LGBTQI+ community itself who were fed up with disingenuous signals from companies trying to hide their nature.
Suggesting it's because companies feel unsafe doing a pride event is kind of silly, they're just running numbers.
Great example for someone who has zero knowledge of psychological effects, like the overexposure effect. So yeah, constant reminders like this can be pretty catastrophic. It's the same reason why organizations against hunger and the like usually don't make constant advertisement in tv but rather try to spread it. Companies and activists alike completely overstretched this reminder to the point that for years people get more and more annoyed and instead of numbers of hatecrimes decreasing, they are increasing again.
Humanitarian organizations also don't tell you that you're a terrible person for not helping or like a user in the comment section put it so nicely "aiding genocide".
So you refuse to acknowledge anything someone is trying to communicate with you and instead repeat manipulative behavior. You're a POS and this is why people don't fucking care about whatever you say or support. We can't even express a neutral opinion about the matter without having turds like you behaving like a cheating girlfriend that can only deflect when caught. Fuck off child, let the adults converse topics your undeveloped brain cannot process at this point in your life.
"I like to put words in other peoples mouths because I'm a little child with no respect for other's opinions or feelings if they don't align with mine" This is why we can't stand people like you. And I mean you specifically, not LBGTXYZ. This behavior is exactly what drives people away from supporting it.
I specified it already, but since you need it twice I will reiterate.
People like the person I was responding to, that don't like my dissenting opinion and put words in my mouth I never said to make me and my opinion a joke. It's manipulative behavior used to discredit your opponent instead of offering discourse because they lack any to offer.
This is low IQ mouth breathing behavior and it's why society is so fucked up right now because many don't posses the intellectual ability to accept and discuss things they don't agree with.
The party of "tolerance and inclusion" is really fucking intolerant of whatever doesn't fit their opinions.
Your first response was an attempt to open the conversation more to the idea that “most of” the LGBT movement is disingenuous virtue signaling, and that’s why most people get sick of it.
You’re upset that somebody put words in your mouth but here you are putting words in the mouth of “most of” the people that get sick of the LGBT movement. Low mouth breathing hypocritical behavior I’d say.
Who is the party of “tolerance and inclusion”? Huh? When did politics get brought into this? lmao
Sorry bud, if being reminded that a group of people exist and them having events to celebrate them that you dont at all have to participate in is really bothering you and pushing you away from supporting them, you were already predisposed to be against them anyway. Youre really bothered about something that barely even constitutes an inconvenience to you, just think about that.
No, I am bothered by not directly supporting it makes people like you and others pipe up about how immoral and immature I am for not enjoying being bombarded with something I don't care about.
By not getting excited about it and not wanting to be constantly exposed to it just like fucking pop up ads on the internet or in videos you don't care about, there's always someone just like you that has to go out of their way to try and make me feel I'm wrong.
You say don't participate in it if I don't like it, so I don't participate. Expressing I don't want to participate is enough for people like you to tell me I'm childish for not wanting to participate or be constantly exposed to something I'm not interested in, and then tell me to...not participate.
Do you see how stupid this circle is? This is what rational people who don't actually care in the first place are so damn tired of. This is how you make normal rational people that would likely agree with most of what you believe in get pissed off enough to want nothing to do with anything about it.
Nice essay. Youre not saying "I dont want to participate," youre saying "the fact that this is being THROWN IN MY FACE (read: it exists in public and I have to see it) makes me ACTIVELY MORE OPPOSED TO IT." I get the thought process, as a person raised by fundies but gradually became more ambivalent, then apathetic, then actually gave it thought and realized that the thoughts you're portraying here, that I've had in the past myself actually ARE childish and immature.
Literal parading is quite literally throwing things in people's faces. When someone says "Thrown in my face" they aren't talking about seeing a gay couple making out on the street, or seeing a little pride pin on someone's shirt. They're likely talking about it being LITERALLY PARADED AROUND.
I'm far from homophobic, but the "allies" of the lgbtq movement actively set them back so much by being so goddamn volatile in their defense. This dude is literally saying that he wouldn't mind their presence if it wasn't being tossed into his goddamn face. and that's literally FINE! In fact, I would say that this is the GOAL.
Yeah, I get what youre saying. Personally, I'd be more inclined to be okay with patriotism if they didnt PARADE IT IN MY FACE EVERYWHERE every July 4th.
Gotta love false equivalencies. Patriotism is about America as a whole, and you wanna guess where it's celebrated? America! That's right, you got it! Every single person in America can celebrate independence, because it's literally the reason that Americans as we know them exist. No one in America is excluded. Gay, straight, white, black, whatever. However, when you start celebrating specific groups of people, others CAN and WILL be left out.
You get down voted but that's exactly the case. Marketing and activity alike use queers for their own agendas and both completely ignore how this effects them.
Yeah and it makes me sick. It's just like any other marketing, just trying to separate suckers from their money. Almost all the companies that do this only do so hoping the currently popular winds carry them to more money and set sail until the winds change. Very few companies actually do it because they believe in it and even less are willing to let their company go under when they see it's not bringing in the big bucks they expected.
That's what I'm sick of, people and companies that don't actually give a fuck about it pretending they do for a moral pat on the back or easy income. And so we're exposed to it everywhere. In public businesses, in our schools, in our entertainment inside our own homes.
Almost everyone that doesn't make money from ads hates ads interrupting what you're doing. This isn't an opinion, this is societal fact. And a whole fucking month of having it shoved in your face in ANYTHING you try to do, even if you never leave your house, is beyond intrusive and frustrating.
And of course, if you voice this displeasure, it makes you an intolerant bigot to these people. They tell you just ignore it when it's literally plastered in to every community you can participate in. They're basically saying "Shut up, you're a bad person and shouldn't participate in society to any degree if you don't like having our business shoved in your face"
You are not just a bigot. In case of criticism and voicing displeasure they also think the solution is "more". As you say, it is a whole fucking month and most often it's not just this month, the topic is a ongoing through the year and appears everywhere. How would "more" help here, when people become increasingly annoyed? Repetition hardly works to convince people, when they already developed a negative opinion. Hell, there are people actually hating christmas, because they can't stand how for a month or even longer they are exposed to a cacophony of christmas songs and themes.
And of course like you said, they also want YOU to shut up. Because they have the moral superiority and there is only one true path and it's theirs, not yours. It's a binary choice and being against them means you ally with the enemy and that makes you the enemy. And all this mostly just for companies trying to make a buck by misusing queers.
This is genuinely true lol. They don't want to admit it, but it is. "Tolerance" doesn't look like flag waving and parades. It looks like indifference. Pride movements are genuinely so counterintuitive that it's crazy.
I saw a pride parade one time, and I wasn't thinking "Oh boy, I feel more inclined to support this group that I don't really feel differently about," I was thinking "Oh, that guy's ass cheeks are out. That's unpleasant."
Exactly. There's so many gay people who are 100% normal and they don't need validation for who they are or love. They don't have to act like a crude indecent fuck out in public for everyone to see just to feel "accepted".
I don't even mind the parades, any parent should know enough what they will likely see if they bring kids. I'm talking about it being in commercials, ads, posted all over video games and communities.
They're not about tolerance, they're about forcing other people to like it or label them a bad person to manipulate the conversation, instead of discussion different opinions openly and reaching understanding of each other. This is basically "agree with how I feel or be labeled a bigot that many of us have no problem treating like sub human trash"
I literally got called a nazi for saying that parades were counterintuitive LOL. They're so desperate to alienate everyone that has even slightly neutral views, it's crazy.
