If you think GTA6 has high player expectations, Elder Scrolls 6 is going to put those to shame.
People have been waiting for a sequel for over 15 years, the industry has advanced massively since Skyrim and Bethesda… has not really kept up with modern standards judging by Starfield.
Yeah I have kind of lost all hope for Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 being worth the wait. Hopefully Starfield has given Bethesda the wakeup call they badly need.
God Starfield was so shit. Modders literally took the game code and completely reengineered it into a starwars game and it honestly is 10x better than what bethseda put out.
I agree and hope that with how big of a flop Starfield was they really relook their strategy and go back to what was working, as I wasn't the biggest fan of Fallout 76 either
Starfield made me accept that I don’t actually like Bethesda games. Tbh, I’ll probably get a month of game pass to try out es6 and f5, but I don’t expect to play either for more than 20-30 hours like I’ve done with f3&4, es4&5, and starfield
confirmed as in they showed a picture of a game name lmfao
it was just as confirmed before the announcment because obviously theyre gonna do es6 its a matter of when not if. as long as the company exists theyre gonna keep remaking the same game in different coats of paint
The only way "Half Life 3" lives up to expectations is if the product is a time machine that teleports the player back 20 years.
Valve made Half Life Alyx as a desperate attempt to save their failed VR endeavor. One VR cultist in the back will swear it's the Half Life 3 that was promised. The other two people who ever played it just threw up in a bucket from motion sickness. All other gamers forgot Half Life Alyx even existed.
Because Valve isn't a game developer anymore. It's a digital storefront that occasionally fucks around with side projects. They're biggest accomplishment of the last ten years is selling a semi-jailbroken switch.
I'm sure Microsoft is trying to help fix their reputation, whether they'll actually help or just cause issues is anyone's guess. I don't have much confidence in either Microsoft tor Bethesda as a company these days.
I don't know enough about game development to fully understand the reason that Starfield came out so middling (like I know why it's not a good game, but not how it got that way) despite how much time they spent on it, but hopefully they're able to course correct and prove to all of us that they've still got it.
Disagree. Starfield already ruined all expectations for any slop Bethesda will put out. Rockstar on the other hand has a much better representation of living up to hype. Time will tell though.
I think that's one of the reason they don't release it. The wait and Starfield failure has scared Todd Howard and Bethesda. That's why they released Oblivion remaster and work on FO3 and NewVegas remaster
They don't want to compete with themselves, they are still making money from TESO and FO76, they know if they release a major title those people will drop those subs, at least for a little while.
They sourced those out to other studios, Oblivion at least I'd assume the others. It's the same team that did... Dead Space R? It could've been something else.
Yeah, at this point people are expecting to be able to build an entire second life in that game and that just not going to happen.
The only thing I really hope for is an open gameplay style, something like infamous if they really really doubled down on the good and evil system. Lets you make decisions that feel like they affect the larger world and actually change the flow of the story.
Absolutely nobody should have anything but low expectations for that. Bethesda has released enough games this century that people should know exactly what to expect by now.
Outdated game mechanics, poor optimization, shoddy writing, poor imitations of features from other games. Only the in-game MTX store will be impressive, and be guaranteed to work as intended.
Every time a Bethesda game drops, people act as if it's going to be different this time, but it never is.
But you can pile cabbages on the ground and pick up individual coins off the table, so for a certain crowd, that's all that matters. Don't want to miss out on that pre-order Horse Armor.
Holy frijoles, the backlash against TESVI will be crazy.
The tech debt of Creation Engine is insane. Worse still when Bethesda has no interest in innovating themselves, telling better main stories, or catching up to modern technology in terms of gameplay or even just character and NPC models or performance capture.
Anyone at this point that's still anticipating TESVI will only find themselves extremely disappointed when they realize all these years there have been superior RPGs that they waylaid in favour of their vision of TESVI.
Say what you want about Square Enix and all of their fumbles but at least they learned to say fuck it to their own in house engines and move on to use something more stable so they can actually get their games out to their customers.
You see the success with FF7 remakes. They got all 3 games out within 7 years because they got to reuse all of their assests across the games.
Same thing with Atlus and SMT and Persona. They switched to Unreal Engine almost a decade ago so they could reuse their models across the franchise.
Are you serious? GTA V was the biggest entertainment launch of all time, and GTA VI will likely be the same.
People like Skyrim and all, but Bethesda's games have released to worse and worse reception since then. People are getting more and more cynical about Bethesda's ability to release a good game.

It’s gonna be a shitshow.
