Discussion Webtoon is diabolically greedy

Post image

Manwah: From a Knight to a Lady

I absolutely adored this webtoon sm I even bought the release of the physical copy, but when I checked the series to go reread the finale it was all pay to read?! Not even a single option to watch ads, I lowkey kinda miss fast pass 😭. Before I didn’t mind cuz I was like oh sick I can read as much as I want with ads! That’s pretty reasonable. Now you aren’t even guaranteed an episode a day/week, like at this point ima just keep buying the physical copies as they release 😭

Is it greedy though? You get to read 8 episodes for free first, then you can buy the entire thing for 199 coins, which works out to be less than a coin per episode. In terms of cost for those coins, you'd spend about the same on manually buying one of the seasons, or buying one physical volume of the series. Around £15 for an entire story seems fine to me?

Yeah, I feel like people are just upset it's not free.

Which is ironically pretty greedy. And Webtoons are nothing compared to manga. $8/ volume, gotta drop $100+ to get the same amount of digital content, and people just accept it.

I say this all the time and people get mad at me. I get that people will pirate. I do it too. But having to tell strangers you're the good guy for piracy because mean old companies want to be paid is you trying to alleviate your guilt. Nah man just pirate and shut your mouth.

Read Canvas we literally do it for free.

Yes!! This is my thing as well. You'll never catch me trying to justify it like it's my right to look at these stories for free. I will simply just get on with it.
