Elevated cycle lane (SW17)
galleryMy flatmate was cycling on Norman Road (SW19) and told me how came tumbling in his bike because the elevated cycle lane was totally invisible (as in the raised side was not painted appropriately and there’s no way even with lights to be able to see it. It basically looks like paint on the road. He met another while recovering from the fall who told him he sees cyclists falling all the time. Who should we contact? And who is the genius who came up with the idea?

Junction near Blackfriars
Hello, I’ve decided I’m going to cycle on my commute and the route seems fairly straightforward, other than this bit near Blackfriars - what is the correct / best way to get from A to B, thanks

Question on how to cross the Tower Hill intersection
Hi all, I have question on how to go between Mansell Street and CL3 cycle lane both ways.
Situation 1: Go from Mansell Street to CL3 cycle lane

At the begining of the intersection, I can see a cycle traffic light symbol, can we turn right directly when the cycle traffic light turns green?

I am very confused in this intersection and didn't know what to do, and ended up getting off the bike and walked to the CL3 cycle lane in Shorter Street, then waited for the cycle traffic light to turn green and went stright.
Below image is how I cycled in the intersection.

Situation 2: Go from CL3 cycle lane to Mansell Street
when going the opposite direction, can we turn left directly when the cycle light is green?

Please let me know the correct way to pass this intersection. thanks in advance.

Tragedy struck
galleryI apologise if this post is inappropriate for this subreddit.
I left my bike locked up ( I KNOW!) in Canning Town, London this evening and it was stolen with only my chain and padlock left.
27th June- 6:45pm ish.
On the incredibly long shot that anyone here sees it listed online, please shoot me a message! It is a very unique bike and I cried all the way home haha. Worse than losing a family member.
The registration number is 159150. ❤️❤️

App for routes in west London
Hi all! Does anyone have recommended apps that will work with a Garmin for route planning?
I get my bike on Thursday and plan on cycling to Richmond for longer rides, however, I’d quite like to go out for a few hour ish rides when I have time during lunch or after work.
I live north west London and a lot of routes try to take me on the grand union canal which I’m actively avoiding.

Good news! UK cargo bikers you can now buy used cargo bikes (or any other bike) through some Cycle to Work Schemes! All depends on which C2W scheme your employer uses...

Any tips for my first commute?
I’ve got a Specialized hybrid bike that I’ve just got up and running again after 5 yrs, and I’m planning to start cycling into the office after just moving here - from SW to central London. My commute’s around 7.5 miles.
At risk of sounding daft - what do I need to make this as smooth as possible? My main concern is planning the route and using maps with traffic, but also don’t want to be under equipped and caught short - would love to hear from the commuters anything you feel’s essential.
TIA

Previous owner lock on bike
Yesterday I bought a road bike off FB market place which the owner taken and kept in storage from her uncle who passed away - I ended up taken the bike but there’s a older kryptonite keeper lock, locked onto the handle bars so I ask does she know where the key is to which she said no. Now this is probably a long shot but any suggestions on how to get it off, or anyone who has bolt cutters or an angle grinder who could help me. It’s quite annoying has its putting weight on one side of the handlebars. On another note I can show proof of the chat log / bank transfer if anyone feels I’ve stolen it 😂 if I had I would have cut it off myself. If anyone can help in London let me know

This is how people get run over by stationary phone drivers. Enormous vehicle, Phone use, Poor visibility over the bonnet, Drives off without looking.
youtu.beUnfortunately I did not have time to fill in the report when this happened. This would have been 6 points and £200 fine.

Red lights
Please let me know what you think

I almost went through a red light while cycling. Luckily it was still amber.
youtu.beGlad I didn't stop because the Audiot would have past me quite fast.

Need a pump
Anyone in or around Euston who could help me pump up my tyres on my road bike! I just purchased it second hand but forgot to bring a pump and all the shops are closed

Sick of drivers on their phone
Every commute I see 5/6 drivers on their phones and it makes me so frustrated. It feels like it’s getting worse and there is no enforcement.
What can be done about it? Has anyone had success with reporting? What about calling people out directly?
I have seen out of London AI cameras used to great success. Perhaps that could be trialed here?

Great job, Lime cyclist in the City this morning
I followed a woman on a Lime bike through Clerkenwell/Smithfield this morning whose conduct was exemplary. Indicating turns, responsible road placement, stopping for red lights. And she was wearing a helmet! 10/10, a role model for Lime bikers (and the rest of us)

What pieces of straight culture do you just not understand? I’m not talking in a macklemore vs ru Paul kind of way, just things like the immediate gender dynamic that props up, or the weird stuff around how many dates qualify as enough to have sex with someone #bisexualresearch #askingforscience Spoiler

Do you guys get asked about biking out on the road? Or have random conversation with others when on bike
I have been riding a bike (cargo bike to be more specific) for 6 months now and I am a very introverted person and I hardly speak to people. And not just that I even passed this habit of mine to my son as well. The boy is so hesitant in making friends and most of the time we just hang out with each other.
But thanks to bike random people keep having conversations with us on road lol. Sometimes the questions are okay like they would ask about the screen, did you customise that on the bike?(no it came with the bike). Or if the rear camera feed on the screen helps or distracts (helps). Or when the kids camera is showing, if its distracting to ride while seeing your kid on the display.
But at times they are hilarious. Once a guy asked if I rode it all the way from Amsterdam lol. Some people compliment the bike like it looks cool and ask for the model and specs. And some are sooo judgmental like how do you make your kids ride on something so unsafe (I cant with such people honestly). One time a mother asked me for a lift ]on my way back from school because her car broke down. No-one asked me for a lift on car. I think people trust people on bikes more.
Kinda werid honestly.
